Thought we would be able to use the lfg tool on tuesday but NOPE. We have to wait some more. Couldn’t you have had a beta before you announce its release? everyones hopes just got crushed. Bad advertising for your game, just saying.

It’s obvious there will always be people complaining about everything (like for the wallet), but please try to discern better them from us.
Plus I suppose we are quite more numerous.

Tues we’ll see threads of everyone complaining that teq is too hard now, or is unfair (bugs and glitches warrented, i can see people getting stuck in undertow). Then itll get nerfed, become to easy, people will complain, anet doesnt know what their doing, yadda yadda yadda…

But hey! According to some people, the game is dyin and barely anyone plays! So your chance to be in the beta are pretty good!

It’s something else to whine about a new feature coming out and just a few days before its release they announce it’s going to be in beta and only for a limited amount of players, while they have advertised this new LFG Tool to release with the update 17 september. Players will be coming back for this update, a lot and they can’t use the LFG Tool. Not a very good strategy.

Agreed but they probably couldnt get it to run smooth as they hoped. Even if it was “smoothed” by Anet’s standards, probably will be buggy for the players since we will be using it on a account much higher than Anet can test.

Jesus Christ, are you a child? This isnt an insult, its an actual question. There are plenty of valid complaints about this game but this? They’re polishing one of the most requested features and you throw a tantrum because you’ll have to wait a bit longer?

Product is bought and paid for, and according to the law concerning ToS, they can make changes and withdraw the product at anytime…

Probably runs smooth in internal testing, but as we know and seen, that never translates well to live all the time.

Is this kind of a…lets be blunt….kitten move? Yes. I was never for a lfg tool in the first place, as i am haunted by other games lfgs. But i can give this a chance. At least it LOOKS different and pretty much functions like gw2lfg.com.

I can wait. If it means a better and more polished system, good enough for me.

Because you can’t tell what happens when hundreds of thousands of people are all using something at the same time, so they want to avoid what happened with the trading post at launch.

By slowing increasing the numbers, they can control it if it becomes unstable. It’s actually smart to do this.

Just imagine how bad it would be if they opened it up to everyone and it just started crashing all over the place.

Considering most dungeon masters are pretty bad, restricting to Fractal 48-only is probably best since by then hopefully you haven’t been carried all the way to the even level cap.

How do you get selected in the ‘beta crew’. I’m afraid it’s the same team that tests everything (seems like family/friends of devs, called ‘Alpha team’). I’m afraid it’s gonna give them again an advantage.

What advantage? A slight convenience in organizing a group to run a dungeon? It’s not like people waiting their turn during the week will be denied dungeon access.

For all we know it’s random, or it’s assigned by how many dungeons you have run this month (since logically they want testers who want to be in dungeons). But even if it is for people they “favor” for some reason, unlikely as that is, there’s no “advantage” in terms of giving some players better game rewards.

I waited one year, so 2 months (or less) is nothing for me.

Quality assurance is a must. Referring to another thread, would you rather have them make sure this thing is bug/glitchy free that the lucky few can find and report or just roll out new features and content with minimal quality assurance to the masses?

If they start by activating it to only 5% of the active game population that is still likely 100x more players than are in the closed beta. It is a LFG tool, you need lots of people LFG to test it properly.

In the end for me is just a way to join and get booted by more teams faster for not running with “1337 zerker gear”.

Just like with gw2lfg, you can pick and choose the groups you want to join. They get to put a tag with what they are looking for. So if you want to avoid the zerker only groups, dont join the ‘speed run’ description.

Make the LFG Beta access only acquirable via Black Lion’s Chest.

I really hope the people complaining about the released delay isn’t the same people who complain about buggy releases.

OP brings out an interesting question. If you’re going to release it as a beta, why not announce it as such in the original reveal? Why announce the release of the LFG tool first, then later say that it’s going to be a beta?

The code’s probably not as ready as they anticipated.

Agreed. They should have saved the big announcement for when it went live to everyone.

Still, I’m glad they’re taking the time to test as they implement.

Then maybe you should stop using the gear you’re currently using and get some berserker gear. I don’t really understand what’s so leet about it either, it’s just gear that happens to be better than any others, you don’t see zerkers condescending about PVT gear sarcastically referring to it as 1337.

This is just PR speak for “hey, it’s going to suck and be poorly optimized/laggy because we didn’t have a good amount of people to test it”

it is basically saying ‘expect the worst’ so when things go better than expected you’re happy about it.. when it should be good from the beginning.

It’s not just for dungeons. Also for events. Like right now if I want to gather a group to take one of the temples.

You’re right OP, they are not releasing a beta, buggy feature to everyone immediately with the risk of screwing up everyone, what a bad company.
You should definitely freeze your subscription.

Assuming the tool has such a feature. Also is it team looking to fill or player asking for a team? We’ll see.

It’ll be on live as “beta” (remember when just about everything other than search on Google was in a state of “beta”) because they want to make sure it works in the real worlds without crippling the game. I’m sure if it prove stable after a day they will start ratcheting up available of the tool. Likely by the weekend, if nothing catches on fire while testing, it’ll be available to all.

Just consider yourself as a tester for the NLFG tool.

If it gets gradually turned on for the rest of the players throughout the week, fine whatever. If this ‘beta’ lasts for months…kitten .
