Once I finally noticed the LFG Tool was active on my account, I was excited to say the least. FINALLY could I with ease find groups to participate in dungeons with. Within 60 seconds I had found a group and had begun. It was smooth, accessible and clear. But of course the first experience was a horribly abusive player and frankly :

I’m sick to death of it Anet and its ruining the gaming experience. My first experience was an individual who referred to the rest of the party as " brain lacking" and " egotistical kitten". ( Of which I have screen shots of)

Now, I am a thick skinned person I can’t understand why everytime I ‘report’ a person for verbal abuse NOTHING is done about it- Frankly its putting me off playing the game altogether.

So whats the point of having the button ? Allowing people to go unpunished especially making such inappropriate comments -I know Anet wouldn’t support these views but clearly aren’t about banning players who abuse it.

I saw a tweet from the GW2 team saying to report anyone selling paths.

As for consequences of reporting, thats for the support team to decide, You would have to ask them directly about that.

I was sharing my first experience of the lfg tool which yielded a less than savory individual. I rarely post and admittedly meant to make another paragraph.

OP, reports aren’t instantly reviewed, so what action could you expect to be done that quickly? The Report button isn’t an Insta-Kick or Insta-Ban button; it’s just there to let you report them to the proper people so that they can act.

clearly the coherence of my first post hasn’t gone as well as planned :P.

Players who I have been victim of verbal abuse to in the past I still see ‘online’ on blocked list etc. Anyone on FoW server will understand what we went through with ’ Blue Perception’

Do we have the ability to put people on ignore? If they intend on releasing the LFG tool, at least give us a way to shield ourselves from abusive people.

Preferably, make it an account wide ignore.

Actually would really like this idea. I genuinely am ‘pro’ the LFG Tool and I think its been done really well . But that certainly would make a difference for me

There is a Block function, yes, but it only blocks that person from Whispering you and such. And the Block list is account-wide.

Ciaran: You could put in a support ticket to ask them about it. https://en.support.guildwars2.com/

No, no you aren’t. You came onto the forums to inform us about your unpleasant experience and wanting to report the player in question.

In your opinion. But your telling me that as a player I should just put up with being called an “egotistical f**”

The suspensions start off at 72 hours for abusive language and additional time is added for additional reports until, with enough reports, a permanent ban is reached. So if you report someone and he does his 72 hours then of course you will see him online at a later time. So just because you see someone online later does not mean he did not get a suspension.

If you don’t believe people get suspensions for language, read the Account Issues forum. People post there whining because they only said “one bad word” and got suspended for 72 hours.

Anyways just report, block, and move on. This is not worth making a thread.

And? Someone can have a thick skin, and still have a sense of right and wrong (and act on it). You can report a person because you were emotionally distressed, and you can report a person because they can’t seem to behave without some form of “encouragement”. The former is thin-skinned, the latter is someone with a sense of right and wrong, and acts on it.

OP clearly isn’t thick skinned if he makes a post about this on the forums.

Yeh abuse sucks but it comes with the territory. Also there are two sides to every story. For example, someone running magic find gear before the change would be very obnoxious and selfish and leeching. There are all sorts of leeches and trolls online. Abuse dudes are just 1 such type, and sometimes the other types trigger them so it isnt all their fault.

Character: Henry rank million/Duke Henry
Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.

Yes you can block people

But it doesn’t block them from ending up in another group with you.

I dunno, I am probably not the best person to talk to about this since I literally never block anyone. If someone for whatever reason decides to talk trash in a private message for example I just agree with whatever they are saying and they usually stop once they realize you literally could care less what their opinion is heh. I just don’t see a need to have all these tools for blocking/ignoring/avoiding what have you. Admittedly I have met people in other games that like to grief encounters and do stuff like intentionally get people killed so I guess it could be useful in that situation to be able to avoid those players, but really other than that…what do I care what some random says or thinks.

wait, so they have a ‘report for abusive behavior’ button, but if you use it, you still have to put up with them? why doesn’t reporting also perma-block everything that person ever says in any way from you seeing (including emotes, whispers, party chat, map chat, and turn their toon into the generic animation). If I report someone for being abusive, I want them gone from my life instantly and Anet can sort out their punishment later.

Basically, report people that are selling spots through the LFG tool. Selling spots isn’t against the rules, but this would be abusing the tool to use it as an ad service.

Such behaviour is not allowed on these forums; why are they in the game?

Though this problem has little to do with the lfg tool as it was happening long before it………….you do have the option to kick. If they’re being that way, simply kick them. Don’t say anything to them, just kick and block, use the fancy new lfg tool to refill the spot. Done.
