i dont see why this would be bannable but you’re really screwing a guy over if hes super low and gets 1 shot by everything . that doesn’t really teach them anything about how to play the game . Nor is there really a reason to rush a guy to high end areas in GW 2 .

Still doesn’t make any sense. The super low guy should have enough common sense to NOT follow the person into a higher level area, especially if he knows that hes a low level.

It’s fine to rush a low-level through a high-level zone.

See terms of use here.

I’ve seen some guilds do it for a guild activity. Run a no armor L2 to the far end of the map race not using waypoints and sometimes designated routes that make it more difficult.

Would it get you banned? I don’t see how unless you were using some exploit to get them there. As far as I know there are no minimum level rules for entering different zones.

What is and isn’t a bannable offense depends on how the GMs feel that day. If they decide after the fact that something allowable by current game mechanics is ‘game breaking’ they expect players to have the foresight not to do such activity regardless of how rewarding or easy it is. One day they will declare said activity as game breaking, then proceed to ban every player who ever engaged in it. It’s their fault, you see, since they lacked the foresight not to forsee that said activity would get them banned. Keep in mind I’m not talking about glitches or hacks or anything like that. I’m talking about game mechanics working as intended. The player will be punished for the devs design flaws. Thats how things work here.

Rule of thumb; if its profitable, don’t do it. You might get banned.

I have never heard that this is a bannable offense and I pretty much doubt it. What exactly is the low level guy doing with those unlocked WPs? Score grazing hits for no loot and no xp in events, get horribly mutilated in one hit solo? I call BS, that is simply not true.

There are no rules against being in a zone above your level. In fact, the online manual encourages it….up to a point. Anything 15 (or is it 10?) levels above your own gives you no ability to hit a foe nor any ability to gain xp. You might as well be unarmed and naked. Do these people want to be run to higher levels to access certain merchants? For soulbound items found there? People were run to Drok’s in GW1 for armor, it was even profitable to do so. I haven’t heard of anyone doing it here, but it certainly wouldn’t be against the rules; though why anyone would want to buy armor they can’t wear until they level up would be confusing. Is there some other soulbound item merchants have a low-level character would desire? I am at a loss why anyone would desire to be ‘run’ to a high-level zone.

To sum it up, this wouldn’t be a bannable offense; what other possible offenses were you interested in discussing?

It’s just a relic of the powergamer MMO mindset: “Must… reach… endgame… as… soon… as… possible!”

Once they get there they realize they just rushed through the endgame to get to the endgame.

Yes but in GW 1 there was no level requirement to wear armor so a level 1 could put on Citadel or Grotto armor if you could get there . Now Level reqs exist so even getting to an armor or weapon merchant wont help . All it does now is get you some exploration XP

@Adine. Exactly. Thus, my question: What would be the purpose of being run to a high level?

Mostly just to say you did it, I used to belong to a guild that did role play “pilgrimages”. All were invited and the challenge was for the higher levels to escort the lower levels without them dying. This became amazingly challenging in Orr heh.

Well, there was a case of low levels being planted at the rich ori location in Southsun when it still existed, that logged in just to harvest and logout. Maybe there are other such places still.

I know I helped a lowish person get to a kite so he could get the achieve. I’m quite sure that was in the spirit and letter of the rules, as it was helpful. He died a few times, a guardian can only do so much!

And when the Mad King’s Tome needed travel to Sparkfly Fen, quite a few low levels got there thanks to kind assistance.

Okay. Fair enough. I can see helping a lower-level get some Living Story achievements. Or other achievements. Just not a lot of use being 10 or 15 levels below the zone requirement, and looking to stay there and play. But, if someone wants to die a lot, or something, lol, they certainly are welcome to. Again, though, the point is that it isn’t a bannable offense, no matter what the reason.

Guild Wars 2 is not a sequel to the original Guild Wars but merely an alternative story setting.

I’ve run my low level rangers (level 7-8ish) through 30+ zones to get pets. Solo. It’s much faster when a level 80 guildmate helps me do that.

There are some zones that are 10-15 levels higher that have hearts that can be done without killing mobs. Those tend to fill up the exp bar quickly, but the tradeoff is that you do not have that heart to fill in when it is appropriately at level later.

We’ve also helped lower level guildmates get through their some high end stories in higher level zone. We have taken some guildmates through the storymode dungeons earlier than when they can get the chest rewards (5-10 levels lower).

“PL’ing” if you want to call it that, is not an exploit. There are risks involved, and the mobs can kill the lower level player easily. There are mobs the lower level player will only get glancing blows on, if that.

There are no guarantees. And there are trade-offs. Sometimes not always positive.

BG: 52 alts, 29 lvl 80’s. They all look good, so I am done with the game: Oct 2014
