I would first like to express that I love playing this game, But up until recently i have suddenly had less and less to do it’s not that there isn’t enough in game(i don’t enjoy pvp or WVW) its just the player base of the guilds I rep with seems to be waning which means I cant do dungeons with with my guilds or fractuls and yes I could group with normal payers but I don’t enjoy that especially being grouped with a team that dont speak english. The fact is after months and month of living world updates I’m missing that calling to go do something. I’m working on legendarys and backpieces etc but cant stand grinding and not having anything else to work towards i’ve done silverwastes to death and hardly anyone seems to do dry top which means most of the time the best I can expect is Tier 3 rewards, and i have completed living world season 2 4 times. If we are going to wait approx 6 – 8 months for an expansion which again i am very much excited and looking forward too surely there should be more to do than just wait…… Dragon ball was great like 3 runs but I’m bored now. The question is this, Where is Living world season 1 ? its wasn’t great as far as living world content goes but id still like to play it again and then there is the big question on everyone’s lips, where is super adventure box ? that would keep my occupied for a good couple of months as I never played it the first time round but would love to play something different and challenging and finally get my hands on the Super weapon skins. I’m not one to complain I’m quite easy going but I want something to keep me in game and the herald of the test game and beta versions does not capture me. I will not be taking place in the Beta testing not because I don’t want to aid the developers but just because it ruins the experience and I want to play it with my friends for the first time in awe rather than know all the mechanics before it even comes out. Anyway how does everyone else feel about lack of PVE content at the moment?

None of them say it but it happens in just about all of them…even WoW has huge downturns between major content releases.

You know, it’s horrible for me to repeat, but us ‘Living Story Lovers’ warned about this very thing. No content, real content, between expansions.

Yet, the expansion crowd didn’t care. They wanted it all at once as opposed to piecemeal via the updates.

Now, here we are. Bored out of our minds and happy for the little bits (Lunar Festival) we get.

ArenaNet really can’t win.

This is true i just wish it wasn’t an update every 2 weeks with a new item on the Black lion store shouldn’t they be taking this time to perform balance changes and update patches before the expansion comes out or maybe just some random encounters in the world with those dragons torching towns. The world is still in the wake of mordremoths corruption Hell all the dragons corruption ! we could see these things happening slowly. You cant tell me mordremoth is sitting in maguma planning his next move, Dragons Act there could even be a few dynamic events added.

The plus side is we know the updates will return after the expansion is released. So, even more content with Living Story afterwards. But, unfortunately, we’re in a circle and wait mode because the next ‘story’ update is Heart of Thorns.

Everything, right now, is more or less on pause until then.

Focusing on balance would be the most useless thing, prior to the expansion. Whatever balance was achieved would be instantly thrown away by the addition of a new class and all the new specialisations.

That’s ridiculous. It takes a year and a half to make an expansion. If the expansion comes out in six months time, they’ve been working on it for at least a year.

What they said before was they were working on big projects in the background and they weren’t sure how they were going to deliver them. What, you think they started the expansion six months ago?

I think that this expansion taking all their time, with tiny ‘festivals’ of no real content, pretty much answers your question, don’t you?

Not even close. I can’t even imagine you’re making this assumption. I’m sure they said somewhere they’ve been working on it for a longer period of time, but I can’t remember the specific quote.

But saying that Anet was working on larger projects in the background and they weren’t sure how to deliver them is a direct quote from Colin during one of his old Pax interviews. He said they were more than a year ago.

Well no, they said they had a living story team and they had other teams working on stuff in the background. Look up the interview if you don’t believe it.

At any rate, just look at how long basic updates take, what we have so far. This update has new technology. Skills have different ways to work. The UI is animated differently. There are different ways skills and even the camera can be used.

Surely this isn’t something they rushed out a few months ago.

They developed new tech to make the new skills. Of course, the easiest thing to do would be to ask Gaile rather than assuming.

@Vayne.8563 Jip, the Expansion was worked on by separate teams and I honestly doubt Living world was incorporated. I am also quite sure that after HoT we will get Season 3 Living world or similar.

Vayne, Living Story is dead in the water now. There are no content updates until the expansion. None. That’s the point of this thread. And ask Gaile? No disrespect to her or you, but the last time we went that route, we heard deafening silence for a specific reason.

Anet suggested that a couple of times already for people who burned out. They have no sub fee, so people can take a break.

I think the point i was trying to make is surly putting something like super adventure box back in is just a case of flicking a switch they do it all the time with the Halloween update which to be fair is pretty much the same instance every year bar very few changes. The Chinese new year stuff was sub par at best. It just makes it look like im going to have to go not bother for the next 6 months until something tangible comes into play that will keep me entertained.

Just give me SAB and I’m happy :d

WOW is a mega casual game that only adds content every expansion and charges $50 for expansions :^)

Wow has heaps… HEAPS more content, but then running so long it would do.. I don’t think what they charge is a problem considering what you get.. I personally don’t play enough to warrant paying it which is their downturn imo.

As for GW2, when I started playing I couldn’t stop complimenting it, it is a great game sure, but both me and my guild feel the PVE is neglected to the point it’s alienating. Our guild is mainly PVE and every week do the same thing over and over, there is no wonder less and less people log in. GW has always been about PVP and I get that but seeing as it released with Dungeons then.. why not make more? Maybe time to consider giving this side of the game more love. And more rewards to work towards that are not the difference between a 4g Exotic and a 3000g legendary which is not really anything special..

I’ve exhausted all of the PvE content as I’m sure most have that have been playing since early release. I now spend my time AP hunting (which I find quite enjoyable) or helping guild members complete the PvE content they haven’t done (dungeon master, fractal achievements, LS2 achievements, JPs, etc.)

I guess I started playing at a good time then. As one of the people who jumped on the pre expansion band wagon, I have lots to do right now, and for the forseeable future. I could see things feeling pretty stagnant if you’ve been playing for a long time and have done all of the story and such.

There’s always a content lul before a new expansion but I think ANet will put more out between now and then. I haven’t seen anything indicating they’re not going to release anything during that time frame.

They’ve said HoT takes place immediately after the events of LS2. So it’s unlikely there will be any additional story content between now and the release.

I anticipate the release in the August/September range.

While I do expect some festivals and other things, the “content” to tide us over will be HoT previews and maybe an open beta. Buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride…

there is plenty to do, it’s just that when you rush trough everything it becomes to boring to fast.
i have plenty to do, simply because i don’t rush through everything.
the same with GW1, so many ppl complain about not having anything to do after 2 months already, even after almost 10 years i still have stuff to do.

don’t get through stuff ASAP, take your time, let the “i need to be first” kids have their glory but don’t let them ruin your fun.

I’ve recently noticed that Diablo 3 is now cheaper than the gems cost to transfer off my last place Dead WvW server……

Even though there might not be more content, I’m not on the airship to certain doom yet.

I like to go and sit down for a moment, DEAD-END BAR? (with kas, marjory, braham, rox and taimi) and share memories of living stories, (say 2 seasons worth like chapterized and all) so I can relive it ingame.

Instead having to point people to youtube to show them why things are as they are ingame, oh… Stories unlocked should be those of season 1 and all locked or completed season 2….. not unlocked uncompleted. Oh and I’d like somthing more then just some outfits and refurbished old content parts.

I want to play the game. These 1 hour shows saying stuff that can be summarized in a post less length off an ingame message are not content. They are ads.. And I stopped watching TV due to ads… So be mindfull in saying your shows are something

I watch dvd boxes now, no more annoyance or tv on demand…. or digital video. I will see it 1 day later but I save myself a lot of time, For your shows I use the dulfy backup… Thank you dulfy, and that_shaman precognition; thank you as well…

And BTW, I do not mind the bartender having the best selection of brews and firewater in the whole of Tyria and it’s allied regions…

I just wish they would come out and say to not expect not much until the expansion. When I realized what was going on (mostly by gauging the attitude of the community….increased standing around doing nothing, increased trolling/griefing, stuff you see in other games like that)…I listened to the advice of “well, make the best of it”

So…went chasing after achievements. Ok, I’ll create a prof I’ve never played (mesmer). Do map completion. Get each collection item in each zone. Try to earn each trait in each zone. Even made an Excel file to organize all this.

Now here’s the reality and why I just uninstalled. Kill the blood ooze for a trait in Bloodtide? It rotates with a champ spider…and no one is there to help with either one. Impossible to solo. Ok, so I just buy that trait…whatever. Not long after this, I try to escort the scholar to get the Orrian Relic collection piece. Again, impossible to solo so I come back later to see if anyone is around…oh, there’s people around…people griefing over too few people to do Triple Trouble…which, guess what….just happens to spawn right next to the scholar who would love to sell that collection piece! Now, that’s just poor game design…unless it was assumed that there would be several hundred people on the map, or even a handful interested in the escort for the relic.

That’s my rant…straw that broke the camel’s back in thinking that I could “create” something fun to do during this lull.

They were bleeding players, so they are frantically trying to get an expansion out now, so it seems we won’t get any more updates until then.

Anet has never really excelled at planning. They just do random things and hope one of them works. Most MMO’s have one team working on expansions, while one team works on normal content. WoW for example has a major patch every 2-3 months, with expansions every 1.5-2 years. Of course their expansions are significantly larger than a GW2 expansion, but they also have more revenue from a monthly fee.

LS failed as everyone but Anet knew it would. Now they are trying an expansion with absolutely no other content in between… which will also fail. Eventually they will end up with the WoW model of major expansion every 2 years with patches every 1-3 months. They players unfortunately had to suffer through 3 years of them figuring this out before they get there.

I suspect in another month or so they will realize they are losing all their players and will announce that a major patch is coming to hold people over until the expansion.

This is obviously ridiculous to say. During LS Season 1, there were FOUR teams working simultaneously on different patches. During LS Season 2, there seems to be one main team while there were several background teams working on feature patches and expansion content.

Just because they don’t come out and list the different teams and what they’re working on does not mean they don’t exist.

Eh it happens to the best MMOs. It’s like complaining there’s nothing to watch when your favourite shows are on break. It’s a valid complaint but just part of the reality of content like this.

I’m just tying to get gold and legendary mats in prep for the expansion, and playing other games like Majora’s Mask 3D.

How do you define failing here. Because I’ve especially enjoyed LS2. Good story, fun challenges, new maps, enemies, skins, bosses. I mean, for non-expansion content I’d say it was quite successful.

LPT: In general discussion don’t use universal terms like everyone, no one, always, or never. It detracts from the point you are trying to make because typically someone can point out instances when it is not true and unfairly turns your comment into exaggeration or hyperbole when you really meant “a lot of people” or “a majority of people”.
