I mean there’s not that much. Comparatively speaking, even swords, bows shortbows, torches, and others seem to have more.

The few that axe does have, suck outside of frostfang, and even then frosfang is the only one with an animation really outside of the pink phantasm one.

One way i measure this is by “animations” soemthing akin to “glowing” “on fire” “particles” etc. There are a few subjective skins which people could like, like the fire axe one, however, the other versions are typically on fire and the axe one isnt

As with any skin discussion opinions are going to vary. I happen to like the legionnaire axes for my charr warrior, but I use the warden’s on my sylvari ranger.

Also by decent, i clairifed axe skins with animations(subjectively)

There plenty of swords, geatswords, staves, and other weps with actual animations to the skin itself, but next to none for axes

Not to be negative, but I think a lot of that might come from some in company bias towards the greatsword.

Theyre all pretty good, better than Frostfang i’d argue. And a couple more are decent. So i really dont have a problem with Axe skins.

Yeah i mean theres like 4 legendary GS skins, several more with animations, and far more “different” designs that actually look like effort was put into them. Most of the axe skins set aside maybe 3-5 look like poop

I think when thrown all of them revert to the default iron (or whichever axe ranger used to start with.).

Staff, axe…there are a few weapons that have always had few decent skins.

I think axe is extra hampered because there is no “2 handed axe” and the small axe just doesn’t inspire artistic creativity. Axes, to me and, I imagine, to most players, suggest big, awesome, super powerful cleavers…..and that’s not what we have in the game.

A bit like maces and 2 handed hammers. The game artists clearly find the bigger version to be easier to work with. Even there though it was a common complaint that many 2 handed hammers just didn’t feel heavy enough. Eventually, decent hammers like Genesis and the purple version turned up to correct that.

I`d go as far as to say that the weapon artists and designers have improved and developed as the game has matured. This is one of the reasons that I think the new legendaries will be something rather special. It will be highly informative to compare them with the originals.

I think i’d be ok with some of the current ones if they added some small effects, like maybe fire to the lava axe one, or glowing to another since there is less skins overall for them.

Kinda makes an axe/axe build feel lackluster , at least IMO

I believe Dulfy commented that Marjory’s axe keeps the skin and had a video showing that. I have yet to apply mine as it hasn’t suited any character but one, and she already has the Warden axe.

My opinion is opposite of the OP’s, as I can do without a ton of particle effects and animations. I am particularly fond of the knotwork axes such as .. I think the name is Truth? .. they look like real weapons to me but have some artistry to them. Same with the Aureate axe.

So for me there are plenty of decent axe skins!

Yeah, maybe im so used to using 2hers in a lot of games, and its common that they get “flashier” attention so i am probably biases towards that. Ill check those out and see if im partial to them, thanks for the tip. I had checked out a video but didn’t see anything other than a glow.

I know in that set the dagger looks much better(actually has a “snake” snimation), while it feels like the axe got more neglected

100% agree.
None of them are flashy, compared to other weapon counterparts
Warhorns and torches are also not very good.
I keep hoping that the ones you get with BlackLion tickets will be good, but instead they seem to focus on Swords and Staves and not on warhorns, torches, or axes.

Only legendaries have their attacks modified, Most “animated” weapons have effects only when drawn, so do not check weapons stowed but wielded when previewing them, lastly Ech time I check up on these threads I wonder: why do people all want a 10 gold legendary…

I’m glad we do not have to numbercrunch 120 different weapon sets in WVW or world bosses for even MORE effects. I can’t see then anyways in the blur-spaghetti of particle effects, only my vidocard moans…

Suggestion: Wintersday Axe. even though the effect is minute it is there. I think it’s nice, also like the torch and the bows, the swords… well sword is ok, GS is ugly like almost all greatswords… I’m a true legendary greatsword hater…

Maybe when you’re lucky when HOT arrives you’ll get a nice axe…Maybe… or just doublecheck them… in previewusing wielded….

Here is an example of what Marjory’s Axe does, it changes the projectile skin from the default axe to Marjory’s Axe. This also applies to the dagger.

Edit: And here is another example with a ranger instead.

Also, is tp server based? Im on darkhaven

EDIT: found it just by searching DT, however when i do a normal search it never shows up. Idk if skins only are in a different section or what. The entire dreamthistle set is just kitten, but expensive as hell. AS someone who started 3 weeks ago i only have 50g to my name

TP is worldwide.

I think the Dreamthistle weapons were removed from the black lion trader a while
ago, and so there is no way to get them anymore beside some skins that other
players have horded.

I think that, in general, FX added to weapon skins actually reduce the aesthetic appeal of the skin itself. Its the equivalent of adding more ’splosions to a movie as a distraction rather than making a better movie. In this sense fewer FX for axes improves the category.
