Lack of official merchandise- Ideas?
I love to see the HoT tshirts in the store as a promotional item. I’d love to have one.
And maybe a GW2 logo hoodie.

Lol, ikr?!
I’m essentially offering to walk around with free advertising…
pretty sure those HoT t-shirts (or similar ones) will be give aways at all the cons this summer. I got a few GW2 shirts at PAX before release. The shirt alone (if green enough) might be enough to get me back to PAX this year.
Xyleia Luxuria / Sweet Little Agony / Morning Glory Wine / Precious Illusionz /
Near Fanstastica /Ocean at the End / Blue Eyed Hexe / Andro Queen / Indie Cindee . . .
More Lore books and just think of all the cuddly toys they could do – the game is a treasure trove of them.
The only clothing merch I’ve seen (GW2 bandanna when game first released, HoT Rytlock Shirt, HoT lanyard) were all given away for promotions at cons (PAX).
Problem with RW game merch is that not company wants to be stuck with inventory. Which is why they might have shirts at launch but choose not to restock once supplies are gone.
RIP City of Heroes

Better than that (from ANet’s perspective): you are willing to pay them cash for the privilege of advertising for them.
They could make some cookbooks.
Something like “100 ways to eat a quaggan”, “Sylvari salads”, “For a tender Tengu”.

I’ve seen Points of Interest mention a culinary artist a few times- they recreated craftable food from the game in real life. It would be neat to see a cookbook featuring the most famous dishes in-game. I’m not sure what kind of audience this would cater for/how popular it would be, though.
+1 for the cookbook idea.
trehearne vodoo doll.
plush risen abomination
priory focus skin keychain
engi turret mailbox
firey greatsword shovel
or best thing ever:
dinky pull-cord-with-quotes doll
From GW1, I would love a Gwen-chan plush.

And yet they don’t luv us enough to give us these things
Gaile had a thread asking for our ideas, but that seems to have vanished. I think at the time there were comments about legalities and licensing issues. That said, here are a few ideas:
TShirts, especially the grey/black logo one they showed in a Facebook poll around game launch.
Cell phone covers
Jewelery
Keychains
Plushies
Soundtracks
Replica weapons, possibly in latex form
Towels (terry not velour please ), bath mats
etc etc etc
Go to the Think Geek page and look at all the game/TV-related merchandise and tweak to GW2 stuff.

thats a very big downside, i live in louisiana, and the likely hood of having video game conventions here..is 1/100. the closest it ever was, was texas, and thats still more than a day of travel for me XD
Hey, this is great. Can you please keep the good ideas coming!? I’ll ask the team to give this a peek from time to time — we love to hear your thoughts.

ArenaNet
Quggan back packs filled with plush griphons!!!!!!
Kasmeer’s bikini.
Faren’s speedo.
a gw2 logo phone case, and animal collar would be nice too :P. I have 2 cats, and their collars are sports teams. and to be honest..I don’t watch sports LMFAO. i would rather decorate them with my hobby
Would buy: Car window stickers, keychains, hoodies, and t-shirts (including girl-fitting t-shirts. I think the style is called “baby doll”).
You can always go to a print shop and have shirts made. I don’t think that’s illegal as long as you are personally using it and not selling them.
I’m waiting to see if there comes a GW2: HoT collector edition, I always love buy a new art book of Guild Wars. And I wonder if my Rytlock figure will can join with a partner or no. (¿Perhaps a figure of Caithe for this expansion?).
I like the phone case idea. Would be awesome to see maybe an OtterBox for my S6 with the GW2 logo lol.
Keychain charms might be nice. Could be a logo, could be a profession or skill symbol. Lot of options there.
Obviously tshirts and hoodies with logos are something several of us have asked for. Profession tshirts would be cool too, but maybe that’s just me.
Logo armbands (like the kind that hold an mp3 player, people wear them when they jog or work out out) might be an idea too
- GW2 or HoT t-shirts – Either logos (I’d love one of the HoT ones from the conventions but haven’t been able to go to one yet) or something more elaborate. Some of the concept art would look amazing on a t-shirt.
- Plushies – Quaggan, kodan, skritt, karka etc.
- Action figures/models – All the playable races, dragons, kodan, hylek, centaurs, quaggan etc.
- Novelty practical items – I know that sounds like an oxymoron but I’m thinking things like an actual backpack themed around an invisible pack. Obviously not invisible but one that looks like the icon.
It would be really cool if we could order models of our actual characters. Obviously it’d be expensive but it would be a great thing to have. But I suspect that would have to be out-sourced to another company since each one would be a custom job. (Unless Josh Foreman wants to do it, he did an amazing job modelling the Jungle Wurm, even in jelly form.)

and alot of more possible thigns xD
I would like to see t-shirts, hoodies and coffee/tea mugs! I would especially like merchandise that is linked to a specific character, for example a hoodie designed in the style of Eir Stegalkin (so, earthy colours, maybe a fuzzy interior for cold weather) or a wallet inspired by Marjory DeLaqua that’s made in black leather with metal details. Oh and of course character statues! I love character statues and I’m sure limited print editions would sell very well. Also… Quaggan plushies. Pleeeeeease?
I think the character specific stuff is probably a bit too complicated to pull off, but the basic items like t-shirts and mugs would be a great start. I mean, there’s a Guild Wars 2 toaster… Where am I supposed to drink my tea from?
Gummy Wurms!
You know you want to.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
WvW map wall poster (36×24 or 48×36) with all of the maps on it: EBG, Alpine BG, Desert BG, EOTM.
Life sized Zoja plush doll.
How about Halloween masks? Quality full rubber ones of characters and monsters, feather masks such as the Jubilee one, etc.
Hey guys,
Thought I would post a picture of some of the merchandise that already exists out there (all be it pretty rare)
Gw2 T shirt, Bandana and Shattered Figurine. I also have all the art books but those are nothing new. I would love to see a white Hoodie with the red GW2 logo on it or maybe a beanie.
[vT] Violent Tendencies
Awesome ideas guys So pleased that the thread has gotten so much love!
@Orpheal: Holy moly that is one comprehensive list!
-What about having GW2 themed stationary/pencil cases? An embossed tin pencil case would be really neat as well as having a standard soft-fabric one.
-I know that tote bags can be quite cheaply made and printed, so there’s another suggestion.
-GW2 themed computer accessories/peripherals would be neat. I know mice/mouse-mats/headphones have already been available as competition prizes, I think.
-I’m sure that if SAB returns, having SAB themed everything would sell really well. SAB is almost as popular as GW2 itself; this paired with its iconic 8-bit design makes it a winner.
-I’d love to see a good range of necklaces, perhaps in a unisex brushed-steel style. I can imagine a whole range of necklace pendants/keychains based upon the profession icons. Having a miniature replica of one of the legendary weapons would be neat, hanging from my neck of course.
-GW2 chess set with themed pieces? (Almost like polymock?!)
-RC golemite
Ya know… I could maybe go for a Black Tee with the Guild Wars 2 logo too. Great idea OP… Gold star and extra points.
…and Lucente – Love the kitty
Kasmeer’s bikini.
Faren’s speedo.
I actually lol’d
I also second the t-shirts (including babydoll tees and tank tops, both men and women’s styles), phone cases, and window decals with the GW2 logo would be great. And a plush quaggan backpack. Kthxloveyouforever.

Yeah they do have some merchandise. But not stuff that most people can buy (except the charr toy and the books), which makes it pretty irrelevant. If I’m looking to buy merchandise the fact that 3 years ago they did a limited edition t-shirt at a convention doesn’t factor into it. (Unless I want to spend enough time researching what they look like to tell the real ones apart from 3rd party knock-offs on ebay.)

I’m sure this is about the third or forth time a thread like this has come up. I would buy the T-shirt and Baseball Cap. And maybe a nice leather biker jacket.

Yes!

I’d absolutely love one of the lamps that an ANet employee got for christmas, I believe it was modelled after the great jungle wurm.
Would buy that in an instant.
But yeah, Quaggan plushies, scale models of characters from the personal/living story, mugs, keyrings, bobble heads (duh) all that sort of stuff.
Especially the Quaggan plushies
Game peripherals.
A new mousemat would be nice. :>
Giganticus Lupicus action figure (also a plushie).
Yes, sell gw2 t-shirts.
Anet can create a whole line of bags using backpacks. They should make this real.
Plush Mursaat and Infused Hoodie to hug it in.

What if real items came with a code to also get a gem store item? Like a keychain gets you a ring of BL chest keys (5 pack? I would even take one if the keychain was cheap), a clothing item gets you a related in-game skin (doesn’t have to be an identical looking item), and the Steel Series gaming peripherals (your tools) each came with one of the permanent gathering tools. Would be neat.
If you do key rings please make the graphics on some the guardian symbols and necro marks. Would be subtle and very cool looking.

This is an awesome idea!
Of course, cost of the in-game item would have to be factored into the price of the real-life item. I also think that the in-game item shouldn’t be too exclusive, or if it was exclusive it can’t be attached to a real-life item that is too expensive.
In a perfect world, I imagine it like this:
X weapon skin is in the gemstore for 600 gems. ( $7.50 if exchanged in the gem-store in-game)
There is a replica pendant of X weapon available in the shop, which includes a 1-time code to unlock the X weapon skin in-game. It could cost $20 in the shop, so effectively you get the necklace for $12.50 if you wanted the skin anyway, and if somebody recognises you with the necklace, they know that you have that cool skin in-game.
Lifesize cutout of Magister Sieran… because reasons…
But seriously, quaggan hats, quaggan backpacks, plush quaggans, quaggan-themed bedsheets and pyjamas set, quaggan costumes and genetically engineered quaggans would be nice.
