Seriously, there is hardly any skimpy male clothing. Females seem to get most of the revealing tops – why not Guys? It’s sexist. One of the more revealing male tops is probably the feathered top (but even then, the male feathered top has NOTHING on the bloobs that female zodiac tops have), yet it has long sleeves that really ruin it.

And while we’re at it, there should be a ‘Lord Faren’s Underwear’ skin. Seriously, I’d pay gems for that! Why hasn’t Anet made this already? It would sell like hotcakes. I’m sure many players would want skimpy beach-themed armor skins.

There should also be red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple/pink flesh colored skins in the gemstore too (sylvari shouldn’t get ALL the skin colors, it’s extremely racist).

Edit: I’ve included a ton of pics below for comparison. My point is the amount of skin showing, or lack thereof, for the males.

I’ve also included a photoshopped version of my elementalist with a blue flesh skin (also wearing the zodiac top) and Lord Faren’s underwear – because I want a ‘Dr. Manhattan’ (From the Watchmen comic series) outfit for him one day. If only his underwear skin were available…

Sure, I’d support more skimpy options for male characters too. Male hetero gamer here, but why can’t female/gay gamers get some appealing choices as well?

I’d probably be willing to drop some gems on more appealing underwear/swimwear for my characters too. Those bright yellow bra/panties make me cringe.

Not supported for the rainbow colored skin tones for every race though; I feel that’s part of what makes the Sylvari unique.

Yeah my boxer/briefs/whatever they are make me cringe too.

Perhaps the Lord Faren’s underwear skin and Kasmeer’s bikini skin could come with the next Southsun living story or something, I don’t know. All I know is I want Lord Faren’s underwear as a skin :-(

Culturally speaking, women are much more acceptable half naked than men are. There’s also that problem with people who get offended by their own masculinity by seeing other men exposed or wearing that armor itself. It just causes more problems than you think.

Its the exact same reason why you see far more naked women than men in mature content… its just how our culture works.

You can always influence how your culture works and the more we see naked men around, the more normal it becomes. I don’t really remember anyone complaining about the more skin-showing male outfits we currently have after 1+ years of playing, so I think the community is ready for more. On the contrary I hear often on this game and elsewhere about the gender inequality and how silly it is that men DON’T have lesser clothed armor. In a way GW2 (among few other mmo’s) is very much left behind on what is socially acceptable (inequality about male/female armor).

I think it’s just a popular belief that most people don’t want more showing male armor and it’s the sheep that scream the loudest from shock when the social norm is broken to show how well they follow those norms in fear of being labeled as a weird person.

But it’s OK, once it become more normal, they’ll become more used to it and they’ll have no problems with it eventually. It’s not like they get all disgusted when they see males in swimsuits at the beach. They just don’t have any real reasons to not want naked male skin in the game.

I personally wouldn’t care if there were ‘skimpy’ armor for males. I simply wouldn’t wear them because I personally as an individual think it would not look good, but that’s just me. I’ll wear the plain old armor we have now. If folks want to wear more revealing clothes on their male characters, go right on ahead. If anything, it will be more accurate to the Spartans from 300, and everyone loves that movie! Actually… if we had the exact same armor as the 300 Spartans from the movie (but the broom-helm would be a must, and that awesome crimson cape) I would totally wear that.

I agree. For one thing it seriously limits the variety in the male armor. They’re all basically the same shape with different patterns on top. Different amounts and areas of coverage would give a lot more variety.

It’s also nice for showing off norn tattoos, sylvari glow and charr fur patterns. (Although humans and asura should have the same options too of course.)

As I’ve said before in various topics I think every race/gender/profession combination should have a full selection to choose from – everything from barely enough to maintain the game’s content rating to full head to toe coverage in multiple layers.

(I almost typed covered in multiple players but that would be something quite different, and almost certainly affect the content rating.)

I used to play Age of Conan. I made a chap who looked like that, and not completely out of place in that setting (the armours there were, for the most part, about equal in what they reveal, plus we had the actual armour tab and then a vanity tab so we could look different, which was a great touch).

I’ve tried to make a chap in GW2 that suits what I want to stare at when I’m playing, but it’s not really achievable (although it’s fun from behind). It would be nice if it were possible. I should say, I don’t need the full 300, I just want a lower rise trouser style- the belt should just be optional. Also the sleeves and lowered feathered section on the feathered light armour to be optional.

Yeah guys run around topless all over the place and no one thinks of it as unusual/unacceptable. o.O

My Sylvari jus’ needs some pants and something simple on top like a vest or chest piece that’s semi-shirtless like mr. leopard here. .-. (most OP character in suikoden)

or they can just give us Luxon armor back, which’d be a nice start.

This is one of those subjects I have a million things to say about so I’ll keep it brief instead.
If they added more skimpy male armor, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.
Would forum posts by the dozens arise both for and against it? Yes
Women should enjoy looking at their characters as well.
Calling it “sexist” really aggravates me but I won’t get in to it. Just choose your wording carefully when using such a powerful statement.

Also, for those who would like to do this now instead of when, if ever, ANet were to add more revealing male armors; You can craft yourself a full set of ascended armor, unequip the chest, hide the shoulders, gauntlets and helm and you’ve got a sexy topless barbarian right there. You still have a full set of stats minus your chest piece, and with full ascended you wouldn’t have much less stats than someone in full exotic chest included. Try it out. You might be losing out on a bit of defense/offense, but I don’t think the difference would be very noticeable.

From my perspective, the only thing that is realistic is that it is sexist to have one gender blatantly more skimpy than the other. It’s the same thing as going to a beach and finding it perfectly ok for guys to be shirtless, but not girls (but hey, I’m not complaining about that :-P #eyecandy), but the fact is it’s a double standard – at least in gaming anyway… (It certainly may not be true in real life because, like you say, guys don’t tend to wear skimpy clothing IRL – ok maybe the odd tight shirt or jeans, but that doesn’t really count).

That double standard is sadly reality though. This is what I’m hoping Anet changes.

Male light armor has the worst “skimpy” clothe.

Seriously? That feathered tunic is repulsive.

I say give us the Tribal set sitting in the PVP locker, not because I’m obsessed with it like some people are in the forums, but because it is as close as we can get to the GW1 Necromancer / Monk scar pattern/tattoo armor.

I had a monk (male, and male monks were a rarity in GW1 lol) with labyrinth chest, Kurzick pants & shoes, Chaos gloves (or any gloves really…)

It was “skimpy” but very “manly” at the same time.

I have a big problem with a thing.Saying that because in GW2 there are not skimpy armors for males but for females are,is sexist.
This is the same with League of Legends, before they had Lucian players were saying Riot games is racist because they don’t have a black champion.

So if i don’t have a black friend that makes me racist?
If i don’t date a guy that makes me homophobe?

Being sexist, racist, homophobe means you do/say something against those groups not that you don’t do/say anything at all.

I say YES for more armor variety but not skimpy male or female armor.

It’s very limited.
Light has 2 options, Heavy has 3. Medium has 0.

Anet was so proud of the heavy one during beta and said they wanted armor to be diverse and have gender equality where guys can have skimpy versions of stuff to mix in~ yet this MMO has the most massive style differences between gender I ever seen where the same armor on different genders looks like a totally different set all together.
