I play on a laptop, i5 cpu and a gt540m gpu.
Typically I keep the settings at lower medium and get a range of 20-40 FPS depending on what’s around me. Since the latest patch I’m running on high, getting a consistent 30+ FPS even in WvW. Good job team!

I’ve noticed an improvement in at least a couple areas. Most notably in the bandit cavern on the west side of Queensdale. I had noticed a while ago (probably sometime in October) that my frame rate tanked in the cave. I was getting 15-20 fps inside it, but 75+ fps outside of the cave, where before there was not a huge difference. This was without a driver update or other changes to my PC. It persisted over a couple driver updates, including one just last week, but today’s game update seems to have returned normal game performance inside the Bandithaunt Caverns.

I suspect its less to do with any graphical optimization and more to do with some bugged events being fixed that used to be stuck cycling into eternity..

The games very cpu dependent so any stuck events that are running are just wasting processing space. Im not seeing much difference on the desktop but going to the laptop there does seem to be a good improvement.. I can even turn on some of the PP now and still get the same fps (though PP is so overdone and horrid I’ll keep the extra fps)

They do perform performance tweaks. There was an intresting video showing how they took performance metrics for players at different locations to build up a “framerate map” if certain areas perform badly they then look at ways to tone it down a bit.

I am on a 4 or 5 year old laptop which can barely even run Team Fortress 2, and I run it on minimum settings to keep it playable. Can’t wait until I get a new computer.
the new update did fix a lot of irritating issues. It is good that Arena net is keeping up with the bugs and is actively fixing them.

I bet the bandits in the cave caused the lag with their skills. Someone “fixed” the skills and now all bandits have no cooldowns on their skills! Just browse the game bugs forum if you don’t know what I mean ;-)

Oh yes, I’ve been having fun with the “enhanced” bandits. They are pretty amusing for a level 80, but not so much for the low levels trying to deal with them at zone-appropriate level. Checking on the bandits in the cave is actually how I discovered the improved performance there. Those particular bandits don’t seem to be effected by the bugs, though. At least in the first chamber near the level 5 heart, they only have Steal listed as their ability, and aren’t spamming high damage or CC skills.

I seem to be getting worse FPS and processing wise… Players not rendering, objects not rendering, and enemies invisible as soon as I get to them ( I DID NOT EVEN WALK 5 STEPS!).

I used not to lag to pure freezing/full stop on the game at huge world bosses (includes dragons) Now I do. I’d used to slow down a bit though previously and may get the woooo woooo woooo sound bug thing now I just come to a halt unable to move or have the game respond.
