Laurel Merchant: Jewelry No Purchase Warning
I just want state that I ran into these situations “below” after the purchase and am wondering if anything can be done about it so that i don’t have to farm for another month to acquire another.
You can either infuse one of them to make it different from the other or you can make a ticket and ask support to give you the earring with the same stats but with a different infusion slot.
ANet may give it to you.
Thanks Just A Flesh Wound for your reply. So i tried using an Infusion on one of the earrings which works however I am still unable to wield both earrings simultaneously.
I’ll try to ask Anet if i can get an exchange.
In the future, do try to heed the ‘Unique’ identifier. In this game, Unique signifies that only one can be equipped.
Using an Infusion is not the same as ‘infusing’ an item. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infused_equipment
Good luck.

It’s been some time, but I’m pretty sure it’s agony infusion that you have to use the mystic forge to add, and it’s expensive, or so I read. Unless you’re going to infuse for high level fractals you’re probably better off getting a swap.

Do it quick. I had buyer’s remorse on a piece and I waited a couple of weeks to ask for a do over. They denied it because it had been too long.

You can’t infuse accessories, only rings and backpacks, so this isn’t going to work for the OP anyway.
I’ve sent a ticket, just gotta wait. I think it should be ok now but this is still an issue though… I understand “now” that the item is “unique” but there still wasn’t an actual warning for the purchase itself.
Another example that i would like to provide is that Ascended weapons, armor, earring, rings, and amulets benefit is that you’re able to cross wield them with other characters. This earring/ring issue is the complete opposite; well not entirely…., of that philosophy.
For example if I had two Sylvari heavy classes and used transmutation charges on ascended armor to convert it into cultural armor they would be able to wield the transmuted armor. Now I can understand if I couldn’t equip the armor to a Norn because it’s a completely different race. An earring and a ring however isn’t the case considering that we’re able to wield two of the same exotic jewelry and the same goes for weapons if the class is capable of wielding them.

This has been requested for a very long time…i think about as long as(ascended) gear has been in game and purchasable. I agree though(again, though its about the billionth time ive seen this kinda thread).
Yeah the ascended “unique” confusion has popped up many times for as long as I have been following the forums. It isn’t something “unique” to you. So don’t feel bad and the good news is customer support has shown they can easily resolve the issue.
Is the reason for the jewelry being unique because of certain quest, or is required to obtain a legendary weapon etc for future updates etc?

Ah. Ok. Never done it myself so fuzzy on the details… (and the restrictions seem kind of arbitrary)

No. They’re bought from laurel merchants and as far is I can tell it’s there for [reasons]. The difference between what you can select is the offensive/defensive infusion slots. Pretty minor.

I think the difference used to be the offensive/defensive infusion slots. I think they did away with those when implementing the new infusions/whatever they are now.
Wait but if they did away with the infusion system then why keep the “unique” function?
Often, it’s a lot more work to go back and change a whole underlying system than to tweak some of its features. Keep in mind, it’s not only trinkets that have the ‘Unique’ identifier. Also, they didn’t ‘get rid of’ the infusion system, they removed offensive/defensive infusions. This helped the ‘unique’ function, as now one can easily equip 2 trinkets that are identical, save for the name/icon (one used to be defensive/one used to be offensive).
It’s only a guess; you’d have to get the absolute answer from the Devs.
Good luck.

That’s correct.
Although i thought they fixed the unique nature of the items. Might be an oversight or a system issue they weren’t able to fix.
