I just got 5 Laruels today, and i was looking at the X gear boxes that say,
“Contains a rare or exotic piece of level 78-80 gear for X. Double-click to open”
Has anyone opened one of these yet? Im particularly interested in whether or not the exotics are bound, and how a Thieves chests differs from say a Rangers. Will the rangers have a more “Rangery” look or a typical stat for them, and will thieves have a higher chance of beserkers? Any1 have any idea?

Not sure yet, I’ve only seen one guy open it, he just was given level 78 stuff that looked like basic gear, not really good for anything but salvaging for ectos. I wish ANet would just tell us if there are new armor sets in those boxes or not, and what pools it randomly draws from. I understand the whole ‘discovery’ thing, but this isn’t exploration this is shopping, and people just want a clear answer on what they are buying.

did he at least mention if they are bound? even the worst exotics generally sell for 1g which would make it more profitible then the 10 dyes.

He didn’t, sorry. I already bought dyes though, opened them, made three gold from the rare ones.

Well i tried it out and got two lv 80 rares a shortbow and a pistol. So i suppose the difference between the classes is based on weapons. Idk why but i assumed it would be all armor. They weren’t bound however and did turn out 5 ectos. So all’s well that ends well.
