Anet, you had a perfectly good chance to change some of the most frustrating and downright evil aspects of acquiring a legendary with the new Laurel system, so why didn’t you?
I think players would have rather used laurels and have a guaranteed way to get them, if drawn out than a RNG money sink which most casual and legit players are screwed over.
Think they’d have to change the name from Gift of Fortune then. Also I don’t agree, it should stay luck based.
RNG money sink for something that doesn’t require any money to get.
Mystic Coins from daily/monthly
Obsidian Shards from Karma, Fractals, Jewelry boxes or Laurels
Ecto’s obtainable from salvaging 70+ rares
Crystals or Philosopher’s Stones for skill points
The materials required are easily obtainable by any casual playing the game in any fashion, not everything should be purchasable via laurels and if they were to put them up for laurels it would have to be in my opinion multiple per, at least 3-5 and that would make it not worth it over the current way to get them.
I think legendaries for a casual player should take a year or more to get and you know, so what? I don’t have my legendary yet, and I play every day…but I don’t grind or farm. I’ll get it. Until I get it, I have other weapons I’m using. Not having a legendary tomorrow isn’t affecting my gameplay.
I don’t get why everyone has to have everything today or tomorrow. If you keep chipping away at stuff eventually you’ll get it.
The RNG for mystic clovers is really not that bad…also, the you get mats usable for gift of magic and gift of might. Just make sure you do the 1 clover recipe and not the 10 clover one.
