Hello,

I’m making my billion’d set of ascended armor currently i posses a few sets (Berserker, Celestial and some other pieces which are mixed ).

Every time i go and craft these armor/weapon pieces i always come across the same problem, i have all my materials or money to buy everything i need.
All the time it ends in the same problem waiting for my laurels to pop in the daily rewards (the laurels are needed to buy the recipe’s).

I’m completely OK with spending money for the recipe but spending all this time waiting for the laurels to pop just so i can get my armor pieces that i have worked for to get is really frustrating.

Please remove the laurel cost from the recipe and just increase the amount of gold needed it’s a way better gold sink then the laurels considering you can only get t6 mats from the laurels which at max go for 60s.
I’m quite sure people would rather spend a bit more gold then waiting for the laurels.
It’s even more healthy for the game because gold sinks yay!

You do not need to use laurels anymore to unlock ascended recipe’s after the 1st set is unlocked (for each weight).

you can craft any other sets just by using your old recipe’s and paying a few spirit shards and 5 ecto and your exotic insignia to change stats It will save you the wait,.

Making armor for when you come to fight alongside Whiteside once again?

you only need laurels from the recipe 1x then you can craft that armor as often as you want…

it is not that hard i think

the laurels are not part of the recipe itsself just needed to buy the recipe so it is a 1 time investment

I thought about it, but the fundamental problem with that armor set is it requires charged quartz, which is time gated. At least you can have six pieces in six days, but if you want to deck an elementalist out in full ascended celestial you’ll need to put that on hold.

So basically: You don’t want this system, but you also refuse to use the other ways available to bypass it?

HoT release and raiding would be a good time to make this kind of change. IMO, if they were to remove the laurel cost off of the recipes, they should keep the gold part where it is and consider it a minor nerf to what’s in the way of making ascended gear.

you only need charged quartz to make charged ambrite, and you can BUY the charged ambrite for about 1g 40s right now, so for charged ambrite at least, there is no time gate

or in other words:

buy the 6 charged ambrite from the TP

buy the intricate sinister insignia recipe and verata’s sinister insignia recipe from the silverwastes (1k crests total)

buy the recipes for verata’s sinister armor from the TP

make verata’s sinister armor.

buy the celestial intricate gossamer insignia recipe from the TP

make 6 gossamer insignias (this is the worst part, since it takes 30 days to get all the charged quartz)

throw them in the forge with the armor, an anthology of heroes, and 5 ecto.

voila! a set of celestial ascended armor with no laurel cost and no extra time-gating besides the charged quartz for the insignias (which is unavoidable anyway)

Charged Quartz is directly a part of the Celestial Insignia, which is account bound upon creation. Unfortunately, there’s no way to bypass the time-gating for the Celestial set.

I thought this was an interesting suggestion, so I decided to look at what the process would be like:

5 laurels + 3 gold for a typical Ascended Light Helm recipe.

~3 gold (sell) to 1.5 gold (buy) for Recipe: Verata’s Masque. (I’m comparing this one piece of headgear throughout, but the numbers can vary between 4.5g and 0.2s for the recipe, depending on the recipe and whether you buy right away or place an order.)

Changing stats takes 5 ectos (~2g,) an Anthology of Heroes (10 spirit shards,) and the exotic insignia for the stats you want to make. (5g—6g for beserker, do your own math for anything else.) So, you’re look at an additional cost of 9.5g (2 for ectos, 5.5 for end-insignia, 2 for Verata’s recipe) and 10 shards for each piece, instead of 5 laurels and 3 gold. OP pegged laurels as being worth at most 0.6g, so that’s 9.5g and 10 shards, versus 6g, per piece. If you have enough shards and gold, you can certainly speed up the process.

If you’re making Verata’s gear instead of what you want, you’ll be using Charged Ambrite as the material, so you should probably take that into account. Charged Ambrite (~1.4g/insignia) is cheaper than, say, Powerful Blood (~3g/insignia, for Beserker.) Since you’re paying 3.5 g to convert to the stats you want, you’re probably going to lose some gold on the conversion, as well as 10 shards.

SHORT VERSION:
For every piece you want to skip the laurel-gate on, it’ll cost you 10 shards and (very roughly) 3 gold. If you have a ton of shards handy, great, if not, you’re gated by shards instead of laurels.

He basically said the current system frustrates him (not frustrates the community, frustrates him) and requested a simple change, so that it would be less frustrating for him.

Some people proposed existing solutions to his problem and he said he doesn’t want to go that route. That should be end of story. Instead, people are getting kitteny with him because he won’t use their solutions?? Give me a break.

Nice I thought about this, I want to make Valk armor but I have over 3k badges . I do have Laurels but i want to save them. I can make ascended Sinister then flip it over in the MF.

The difference here, of course, is I was explaining why other posters were frustrated by OP, in a direct response to someone who was getting frustrated that those other posters were getting frustrated.

I’m also not complaining about being frustrated, so there is no problem requiring your suggested solution.

I’m basically annoyed by all the time-gated stuff in the game there should be a better solution for making these items hard/harder to get Time gating is not the solution its just an annoyance. Some people like me also have work and rather spend there free time on stuff they find fun and not waiting around to have my fun (i need more agony on different armor classes hence why i want to make more pieces)

I don’t think people are getting this, i think its quite stupid you have to do a very annoying work around which cost even more time ( I don’t feel like getting the bandit crest i’m a wvw roamer/pvper i don’t enjoy pve that much besides fractals and CoE).

I agree time gating is silly. Even the bloodlust/dragonite/emperyl/ eaters are time gated :s

Only charged queartz is timgated, for most other materials it’s a tiny bit more expensive to pass the timegate, then actually frustring yourself .

Charged quartz is time gated, making vision crystals is time gated, making damask is time gated it’s highly annoying.
