Anything man. Anything. If it moves, it will most likely miss. Rush has been broken since the beta. Every leap in this game is a gamble to land if it is a moving target or over mild terrain.
I agree with the OP. I might not have phrased it that way, but leaps leave a lot to be desired.
Many is the time I have a targeted creature, use my 3 skill, and end up jumping off a cliff, instead of toward my target.

Then I can almost guarantee that what you thought you had targeted is not really what you had targeted, or it changed targets just before using the skill(I’ve had this happen to me, and only realized it after thinking the skill wasn’t working properly and watching which creature I had targeted, it’s also possible that this is a hit or miss bug and hard to track down).

Not even close. I had a boss targeted in SE on more than one occassion and got propelled off the edge…and there was no target over the edge and the boss was the only guy there.
The second time it happened I was watching who I had targeted (which was after all the called target, and I hit T).
Agreed, leap have been broken for a while, but seems after a patch many months ago, got worse. Sometimes I test how bad it can be with targets near edge, cliffs and almost 7/10 the leap goes wrong. Not to mention when the leap is canceled one second before hitting the target. For the warrior leap, sometimes they leap to the ground or even, I saw only twice tho, backwards.
Uncategorized Fractal is a ‘funny’ place to test that out and see our character leap off.
My last tragedy with the leap was in WvW, inside Garrison. Inner SW gate an archer started to snipe our omega so, since I was using a guardian and a bit far from the archer, I hit #3 to leap to get close and blind the archer but, instead, my character fell down, landing outside the keep. Since we were a small party, we had to abort the mission because I’d have to run all the way up to NW gate…

Maybe it’s because I have an average ping of 100~200ms, but any attack with a movement component to it is useless unless I use it at point blank range; if I use it at, say, range 300 or more the attack either drops me short (I’ll move, like, a foot and just drop back to the ground) or overshoot just enough for me to miss (I’ll wind up standing on the other side of the target, facing the wrong way).
The exception to this are teleportation attacks like the guardian’s flashing blade and thief’s steal, but not the mesmer’s illusionary blade (which just does nothing sometimes).

My biggest problem is – sometimes I use these skills to move around fast or run through waves of enemies. To do that I have to scroll my camera to the point I can only see my character so it won’t auto target every mob on the map. That’s fine, that’s my choice, but it doesn’t always work. Even though my camera view is clear, my character still ends up targeting mobs that aren’t in it. I’ve died plenty of times because of that.
Heheee… funny thread. Never had problems with any leap outside of missing the final hit with rush.
You autotarget enemies when using a leap? Turn of autotarget in the options.
You jump of a cliff instead towards your enemy? Can only happen with ranger sword AA #justrangerthings
You miss your Rush as warrior? That’s beause the hit-detection only occurs after the whole animation is done. Could be fixed but that problem is probably deep inside the code.
ok, idk if you guys notice or not, there is still a can not move bug after you leap, this is breaking my game experience, i got is some times in spvp, which cuas me lose fights

My autotarget is always off. It still screws up for me. It might be, as some suggested, a latency type issue. That is who I’m seeing targeted on my screen isn’t actually there anymore on the server…but I haven’t caught up yet.
using auto target always lands a hit with a leap for me (if the enemy is within the range of the leap)
this however prevents me from turning my camera away from the enemy and leaping away from him in another direction…
Yes.
Yes they are.
Actually no they aren’t on Engineers, we still have animation issues for Rifles.
