Guild Wars 2

Well, I’m about to leave for 2 years and I won’t have access to video-games, t.v, or much technology at all for that matter. I honestly don’t know if I’m going to come back to Guild Wars 2 after the 2 years are done, or even if the game will still exist once I get back, so I’m going to say: Happy gaming, and have a Merry Christmas! I hope you guys enjoy the rest of GW2 and have fun with it!

If the game does still exist and is thriving when I return, I will log in and see everything that’s changed. I honestly wonder what is going to change in the 2 years that I’m gone, and I hope the changes improve the game and polish it off. Anyway: Have fun, and happy gaming!

Many places on earth that has no technology. He can be going into a monastery or a temple. Aiding help in Africa or Asia. Around the world trip… endless of possibilities… maybe even space :O

Haha, I actually don’t know where I’m going yet. It’s for church business so I could be sent anywhere in the world. And the technology I mentioned is because the church has strict rules on when/where/why I can use technology. I’m hoping I’ll be sent to Africa or somewhere in Europe.

It would probably be about 2 years and 4-5 months. But then again, a lot of stuff can be added in a couple years that I might really enjoy doing. I hope that’s the case.

I have to say it really was a defining moment and the greatest two years of my life. I would never trade it lol and I got assigned Houston Texas

I don’t think the church he represents is saying technology is evil in fact tech wise they are probably one of the most advanced. It is more rules of the mission to help maintain focus. It is a refining experience.

You both discerned the reason behind the limiting of “technology” from your bias. Clearly the intention behind the restriction of “technology” (in this context entertainment items and the like) is to maintain productivity and retain focus on the various endeavours in which he’s to be involved. Religion has very little opposition to the broad term “science” and has in many cases sponsored it. If it didn’t contravene any of its tenets, why would it?

It’s saddening to hear that your life would be “miserable” without this artificial presence too, Chase.

Our neighbours are Mormons from Austrailia. Always 2 “young men” for 6 months, then the next come. What do they sofar all have in common? They like to listen to loud music and TV

And there are good reasons to miss out on technology. I know it doesn’t always do me well and if I look around and see all those faces dug into their smartphones I can think of plenty reasons why technology could be prohibited.

Even now I’m spending time on a forum when I could actually be reading something of value to my or somebody elses life.

Anyway enjoy the next 2 years, it will most likely be an experience you won’t forget.

Such ignorance. The guy says he’s going on church business and that technology use will be restricted—and you automatically assume it’s because “oh religious people think technology is evil”
Technology is restricted because he’s supposed to be doing productive things, instead of playing computer games and wasting time on the interwebs—DUH!
It’s the same as cell phones being banned in a classroom—it’s meant to help him avoid distractions.
And if you think spending 2 years helping and doing service for other people—instead of gaming—is a miserable waste of time… I suggest you check your own priorities.

the game kind of has to stay relevant though….though i guess if the game tanks and they get desperate for gem shop purchases, they’ll jack the gold you get from gems regardless just so you can buy anything you want in the game
