The main reason I left WoW not because of contents, they still pumping out good contents but because I was forced to be a Paladin. I hate Paladin I want to be a Hunter and a Rogue but raids don’t welcome those classes. I switch to GW2 because I thought things would be different….

Why am I being punished for being a Ranger and a Thief? Everytime I log into dungeons groups they always ask if I have a warrior or a guardian or not, if I don’t they would kick me out. Sometimes there some really nice people welcome me but most of the times they just want to clear the dungeon faster instead with another warrior

I tried WvW and they always make fun of my thief, always making me scout in towers for hours while everyone fighting on the battle field. When I ask them why they just said it’s the meta, Thiefs and Rangers aren’t very good. Most commanders told me in TS that either roam and take supply camp or control the siege, don’t follow Zerg you will just be easy rally. Said scouting as a thief is very good you don’t have a lot if action but it is important and thief are good at scouting. But I want I follow Zerg

Why am I being forced to roll a warrior just to play the game?

It sucks :/

You’re not forced to do anything.

You can start your own dungeon groups and announce theyare open to any class, they will fill up in seconds.

As to the WvW part, who is it that “orders” you to not do anything? Just roam around yourself and kill stragglers if there is no group/zerg to run with.

Only noob groups wouldn’t accept a thief. In a warrior party, thief does more damage than a warrior. Warriors are still needed for banners though.

Huh, maybe its just me, but I’ve never been in a group where we’ve kicked someone for their class. Like someone else stated, you can create your own group.

I know you are really asking Anet why. Idk why but Ill just throw this out there. My family and I comprised of two rangers and two thieves just four manned CM path 1 and path 3. Those are supposed to be easy as kitten and indeed they were. Stop pulling guard duty on those towers and get out there and play the way you want.

It sounds like the people you’ve opted to play with simply suck, OP. Play what you like, there are plenty of people that will accept you for however you want to play.

Thief is well loved in WvW.
[Spirit] Rangers are ran commonly in sPvP
Dungeons can be done by anyone, just avoid the narrow minded haters.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Two months ago you seem to have said you wanted to be a warrior. Not sure if I can take this serious.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I agree with you there about rangers. they are a disappointment in this game in pve. Thiefs are alright, if they know what to do instead of just auto/dps. like stealth your members to make the runs more smooth.

about wvw, I honestly don’t see any commanders (at least on bg) to order anyone to scout if they do not agree to it. hell, my guild even got a mesmer scout cos no one want to do it.

Though you have to admit, some groups do indeed prefer the 1337 Zerker warriors and 1 Zerker mesmer groups.

Those aren’t 1337 groups because thief dmg > warrior damage. You still need 2 or 3 warriors for banners, but yes, thief does more raw damage in a scenario where your party already has warriors.

Plus considering people love to skip 75% of the mobs in dungeons having a thief is pretty handy for stealth running. And while I don’t WvW that much, thief roamers are a pain because they can almost always just stealth and disengage.

I say just play what you think is fun, who cares what other people think. If people are going to kick you from a party just because you are X class, then I don’t think running with them would have been fun to start with.

You need to roll a warrior

down a hill after you stab him several times =p

Anyways, I have a thief and a necromancer, and I just don’t join parties that say “Lvl 80 only, Mesmer/Guard/Warrior only, Speed run, zerker gear only, or Pro only” If I don’t see any group that I match the criteria of, I simply put in “level 35 Necromancer ( or theif) looking for [Dungeon]” and I end up getting groups and we complete the dungeon just fine.

The problem with WvW is that if you run with a zerg with a hardcore/dedicated leader, he/she wants a solid core of professions. Rangers, Thieves, and Engineers are not part of their strategy because they bring little to these large zerg fights; whereas, the 4 main profession are just easier to manage, stack and have the best synergy.

This is a no win situation because Anet is not to blame mainly but the hardcore zerg leaders that want to win fights.

i’ve never seen anyone get singled out/called out in WvW that didn’t have to do with supply or being enemy server scouts. I find it highly unlikely you got called out for being a thief.

Wow. You’re pretty delusional if you think WoW has less grind than Gw2.

Especially during the early patches of the current Xpac.

Man imagine if Shadow refuge had no limitaitons on how many it could stealth and heal. That would make thief a truely ambush-making class in WvWvW, and I think a way to counter mass stealth would be something like the Wow hunter class skill “Flare” which reveals all enemy stealthed players/mobs in the targeted area.
The “Flare” skill would ofcourse belong to ranger.

There is balancing issues with every MMO, those professions you play are accepted if you don’t camp range, which 99% of rangers and thieves do. It’s a problem for you that you don’t understand the meta in this game. And btw a LFG tool group asking for heavies only doesn’t mean they “kicked” you.

If you want to play bearbow/SB then make your own group. If I want people who contribute on the same level as me, I have the right to make a group asking for high DPS players. There are enough people on each side of this debate so you can party with the people that agree with you.

Silly topic, “forced” issues combined with WoW comparison … please. We are not talking about a thought here, we are talking about a gaming identity crisis (edit: class wise, not people wise).

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Thief damage is higher than warrior. Hell, someone said guard’s DPS is higher than warrior. It’s not the class that got you kicked.

In my experience, warrior tend to have the higher chance of going full zerker because of their innate defense (in PuGs). This is just a PuG perception, but most often than not it’s correct. So ask yourself, can you be just as useful as a warrior who is probably wearing zerkers in PuGs? Check your gear and skills :P

In the end, you can start your own party with “any class welcome” or just say “LFM P1” etc…
