Left out
Join a guild and all of those problems go away. Play with other people, make friends and go out of your way to make groups that will do the content with you. There are other people like you, you just need to reach out to them instead of expecting them to just come to you.
Why would being in guild change anyones motivations? Friends and guilds still have priorities for their time. There is no incentive for them to go grind 30+ runs of CM (for example) if they need no tokens from there.
I fail to see how you can’t enjoy PvE. If you are exploring the world at large, you don’t need the best gear.
Actually, given that guilds and friends are give and take, I think you’re wrong. My current guild has run a ton of TA runs with me even though a lot of the people didn’t need the tokens. And I ran AC with them back so that they could get the tokens they needed. I mean, even if not guilds, friends should. If you have friends who are completely unwilling to do something you want to do unless they benefit from it themselves… Not really friends.
It’s all give and take. If you find a guild that just won’t run anything they don’t want to run, then it’s most likely not a good guild to be in for you.
It saddeness me to write this, but inside two months you ve managed to kill the game for anyone that doesnt stick by it everyday for hours.
I ve dedicated quite a lot of time in august and september to the game, then played occasionally in october. I come back and start playing more in november, but there are barriers that are unpassable by me.
I cannot complete some dungeons – there is noone playing anything but fractals. By extension i cannot get any dungeon armor or weapons. Again by extension i cannot do monthly achievement. Which puts me at a disadvantage to a group that can making me even poorer by comparison.
I cannot participate in pvp – without tournament group all i can do is mindlessly grind glory. Which maybe i should do, because nobody will believe me that i reached rank 20+ solely through tournaments. PLaying tournies without a group is an excerise in futility. I d rather waste time watching paint dry then have 150+ points each game, only for the rest of my team to have 10,10,10 and 0. So by extension – no monthly pvp achievement.
I play a mesmer, which means i have zero or next to zero tagging capabilities – no dynamic or world events for me. At the same time, anyone being able to generate gold is getting ahead of me more and more – if not by directly generting gold, then by flipping.
So all in all, I cannot enjoy pve, cannot participate in pvp, and in general, im left out of everything. All because of silly design choices like: reward seperation between different dungeons in pve or no separation between premades and randoms in pvp.
Come to Isle of Janthir and join my guild and my small guild and I would gladly do dungeons with you!

:) See?
I’m not sure why any of the changes over the past couple of months make the game unplayable. I’ve got a total of 9 chars, one of each, including a Mesmer, that I cycle through, depending on the mood I’m in, and none of them are even level 40. I’ve been able to solo everything for map completions except a few a of the skill point challenges, and there are usually folks around trying to do it at the same time, so it still gets done. I haven’t tried dungeons yet, but since none of the dungeon armor or weapons blow me away, I’m not really worried about getting them done. I don’t feel like I’m being left behind by anyone or for not having comparable gear to anyone else and I never viewed it as a race of who can get to 80 the fastest or who has the biggest exotic/legendary/etc. … I think it’s just straight out fun … and if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be logging in every night for a couple of hours. Perhaps you’re looking at it from the wrong perspective?

This is the same thing I’ve been trying to say in various places, but I don’t think that people play the same way that folks like you and I do. We tend to just enjoy the PvE aspect, don’t worry too much about dungeons and what-not, and have fun in the environment. Somehow, it boggles some people’s minds that we could be okay with that, but there you go.
Exactly! I explained it to a few folks I used to play GW1 with who haven’t made the switch yet … fell like missions? Go fill a few hearts … feel like hunting/gathering? Go mine/gather mats … feeling industrious? Go craft for awhile … feeling like taking in the scenery? Go check out the vistas … Need some excitement? There’s usually a few different DEs going on … and on almost every map i wander to, there’s someone asking for a hand in the chat, so it certainly never feels empty like i’ve seen some folks describing on other threads … i can be as active or as laid back as i want to on any given night …

I was told in another thread that because I only do these things, I essentially do “nothing” in the game. Whatever that means. The whole game is end game…remember that? I’m living the end game, and loving it.
don’t like how mesmer can’t tag?, make another character for that. don’t like fotm?, make a group for the dungeon of you choice (i have no troubles). can’t participate in pvp? make a forum post, network, talk to people, join a guild…
noone can handhold you to make the game enjoyable, you sound overly emotion and unambitious.
Some of the responses here made me laugh.
FE, mesmer being unable to tag – reroll. Seriously? Also I am not saying the game is unplayable or boring, as some of you seem to think.
I am saying that the game is structured and designed in such a way, that majority of its content is not accessible for ‘an average joe’ (like me), and that those who already have play through it, have no incentive to go back.
Sure you can say that friends alliviate this problem. Then again, friends would help you out with mawing the lawn if they were friends and you were hard pressed. Argument that you can access content by having a group of people that does what you want is silly – its a truism. And it doesnt change the fact that nobody really wants to do fe CM, or that is nearly impossible to participate in tournaments as a solo player.

yeah… just get curb stomped in wvwvw without having decent gear. why should you care? getting rolled in every fight is really enjoyable!
