Well considering people have spent gold/gems to get unlimited gathering tools, it wouldn’t be fair to just make them free at a certain point

I would totally buy pre order if I could get a gift like this.

This bonus has been distributed for 1 year and 8 months. It started on the first anniversary when the regular edition was changed to the Heroic Edition. It is common to add something to a product to entice buyers.

Sorry you bought the game, and experienced all the first year had to offer, before the change.

I still don’t think it’s a good idea to make a skin free when older players have bought them in the gem store, and would still have to pay for it even when it’s free for every new player from now on.

I wouldn’t care as much if it was a dungeon armor set skin, or crafted set or anything besides a gem store set tbh.

It’s like complaing about a car you bought and year later it’s sold with additional spoiler.

Then you will be unhappy to know they also receive 10 Experience Boosters, and an 18-slot Mithril Box. Ack!

The idea is likely these gifts help make up (in a very small way) all the Gold and one-time experiences (among other items) late-joiners missed out on.

Truly, it is no different than buying the DDE for 15 dollars today, when I spent 90 dollars on it pre-launch. I, personally, don’t feel the need to be up-in-arms about the cost discrepancy, because I would not trade the 2 and a half years of participation for the difference in cost.

So you would rather they got a set people have to work for in-game for free, then an item that people have to buy with gems, which basically requires no work?

This is how everything works.
Some time after release games releases a GotY edition or something like that, which include bonus stuff that was not with the original game release.

This isn’t new. I bought GW2 2 sales ago and got the Krytan set.

I can see how it’d be annoying for older players, but then you got to experience LS season 1 and don’t have to pay gems to play season 2.

I’m pretty sure they have always cost 500 gems, right from launch.

2. open beta,
3. pre launch,
4. enjoyed LS1, LS2
5. 6000+ hours played , 950+ days and counting
6. did wvw: got Silver rank
7. have all dyes unlocked, well allmost 8 left…
8. have recipes now unavailable
9. have unlocked the mining nodes (sprocket/candy corn/quartz crystals) but also x-mastree/skillpoint in my home
10. got mawdrey I and II, emperyal star
11. bladeshard backs, zephyrite back, dwayna, grenth and so on.
12. got 1000+ skins easily….
13. got 140+ bag slots on 14 of 15 chars
14. 100 tomes of knowledge 400 skill scrolls 200+ writs
15. fully unlocked traits on all my mains
16. multiple worldcompletions
17. completely unlocked crafting 500*6, 400*2
18. a good base of mats in bank
19. guild bank (deep cave included)
20. 35 armors on 15 chars (at least) 2 completely ascneded
21. ascended weapons on 13 of 15 chars
22. 20-25 complete sets of ascneded trinkets (at least)
23. 17k AP….
24. have 2 legendaries
25. 15k gold spent, if not more?

And I should worry about 1 armor set, 1 mithril box and some xp boosters??

The current deal (legacy armor, mithril box, etc.) on Heroic and Digital Deluxe editions has been around for at least a year now.

I’d rather have my old exclusive living world skins and have bought skins for super cheap (like the desert rose i got for 7g, or the light of dwayna/shadow of grenth recipes i got for a couple gold a piece) than have a gemstore armor set for free ;P

I think the choice to give players those skins was in response to people complaining about low-level skins being boring. now lower levels can have an over-the-top armor set when they start the game too.
