I just started playing and You get a choice of 3 armors. After picking one i thought best would fit my color scheme based on the chest, I’m told I can’t even wear it in my class. WTF?
I feel that if this sort of thing is going to exist, I need to be notified before permanently wasting my decision.

There are 3 armor types: Heavy, Medium and Light.

Guardians and Warriors can only wear heavy.
Thieves, Rangers and Engineers can only wear medium.
Elementalists, mesmers and necromancers can only wear light.

What profession do you use and what armor did you pick?

Yes, thank you I realized that. My point, is that I WAS NOT NOTIFIED before i was asked to select, and unknowingly selected a worthless set because of it. Is there a way to fix that and get something usable?

Every mmo has different armor classes, it’s pretty much common knowledge. Unfortunately I don’t know how to fix it.

You can always make another character that can wear the armor you picked.

You are missing the point. I was given 3 names, and 3 different chest colors and was told “Pick one” Nothing suggesting which was which weight class, and which my class would use. I’d like to have the set of legacy armor my elementalist can use.

hmm. I don’t have the heroic edition so I don’t exactly know how this picking a free armor works and how it is displayed. But from the sound of it you were indeed not notified.

Maybe someone else with the Heroic edition (or a dev) can shed more light on the subject.

Well, I’ll probably submit a ticket. I’ll gladly have them take this armor back so I can pick one I can use

I believe each chest does have a description when mousing over it.

Profane Armor Chest

‘For Elementalist, Mesmer, and Necromancer professions. Contains a light helm, coat, legs, boots, shoulders, and gloves, and a Profane armor skin.’

Krytan Armor Chest

‘For Engineer, Ranger, and Thief professions. Contains a medium helm, coat, legs, boots, shoulders, and gloves, and a Krytan armor skin.’

Primeval Armor Chest

‘For Guardian and Warrior professions. Contains a heavy helm, coat, legs, boots, shoulders, and gloves, and a Primeval armor skin.’

Regardless, if you contact CS, they may replace your armor providing you destroy the other, as they are usually helpful to new players. Good luck and welcome to Tyria!
