The Walkers and the Whispers, ANVIL ROCK
I was going through the wiki page on Legendaries, and holy kitten is THAT going to take awhile to obtain the necessary mats and everything else … but then I checked out the various legendaries and while they ARE cool, there only appears to be one of each weapon type … the lore of the game is vast and deep, so in Tyria’s entire history, only one weapon of each type was so singular it acchieved that status?
And, my point in this — what happens if you don’t LIKE the one that’s available?
For example, the char I have closest to 80 is a dual-sword warrior … and while Bolt does look awesome and the effects sound equally awesome, what if wandering around with lightning crackling around me just ain’t my thang? (not to mention, for it to be symmetrical, I’d need two of them)
I know the easiest answer to this “if you don’t like it, then don’t get it”, but I wouldn’t mind laying my hands on a legendary at some point. I was just curious if anyone had heard whether or not other legendaries are out there/will be coming/etc.
There are 3 Greatswords: Sunrise, Twilight and Eternity.
Check requirements for Eternity though…
As for the rest: i agree, however Devs didn;t anticipate them being obtained as quickly as they were anyway. Maybe they will add more, and maybe their designs will not be immersion-breaking this time.
I think they said they are designing more legendaries but I’m not 100% sure of that…There are 3 GS (2 different models), I think there should be 1-3 choices to chose from for each weapon time.
Bolt looks good when it’s alone, but the lightning around your body really frustrates me as well.
I have come across this in the process of setting intermediate targets for future legendary. While the weapon type legendaries i use are flashy, they really are not in keeping with the look(s) i have created in item sets or the stats of the items condusive to the builds i made.
This prior to lost shore wasn’t an issue as they were optional fluff of prestige value. But now that they are always best in slot items, then it makes logical sense to aquire them to be ‘progression proof’.
Considering ultimatly how many players will be aiming for these weapons, a larger diversity in style + stats needs to be in place or we will all be using the same selection of obvious weaponry. As these items are long term objective that all have differing recipe goals then if there are changes in the future can there be a guideline to consistency or patterns of item aquisition. I’d hate to have worked for say the predator being partly keen on the look for a far more appealing legendary rifle to be released but requiring different dungeon element or lodestones than those i aquired, or worse still not having gifts of exploration left for newer legendaries.
Perhaps a system could be designed so that if you’ve already gotten yourself a legendary (say, Quip or Kudzu, which do look sweet, but on a male char? really?) and if/when new styles are released, you could “trade-in” your existing legendary for a different one, so long as it was of the same weapon type?

Have you see the dreamer? Much worse than Quip and Kudzu. :P
They could do a similar recipe to Eternity such as: Precursor to the new weapon, Old legendary weapon, 5 T6 mats, and a bloodstone shard. And have a separate recipe to make the legendary from scratch.
LOL, no, i didn’t check out the Dreamer — don’t have a char that uses a shortbow often enough for me to even consider it … but haven’t checked it out now, I don’t even know if I would toss that one a female char … well, maybe an Asuran one … but that’s my point exactly — I have no issue with the immense amount of collection involved in getting the materials, gold, etc., to craft a legendary, and fully expect it to take me months since I’m only playing 2-3 hours a night, with a few “marathon” weekends here and there, but if there’s only one shortbow available, and I’ve got a male thief, i really don’t see myself investing the time/effort/money in getting something that looks like it’s been torn off of a merry-go-round.

they will no doubt add more Legendaries down the line, especially with the possibility of new Weapon types being added.
