“The devs could easily create concept drawings for us to discuss and vote on… not hard to get the playerbase involved in legendary gear and weapons matters.
Like… “Hey awesome players! Dev team here with some basic concept ideas and drawings for our legendary ________! What do you all think? Which one do you like best? What changes or ideas do you have for these?”
Right?"
Right?…
You added that part after I posted and then proceeded to respond to my post asking me why I didn’t answer that question.
Good, now we are on the same page and you can answer the question right?
My original answer still stands. Not everyone will agree on what they want as they each have their own preferences. They could still take what’s discussed though and use it to create more variations of armor skins in the future. . And like my question I had asked you, such discussions could end up favoring skins that you don’t like.

Well, of course not everyone agrees, that’s not the point.
Providing player input gives the devs a better gauge of player likes and dislikes… it’s a pretty simple process that the devs have rarely used to get feedback, but when they do they get a better direction… Legendary gear takes a lot of time and energy and gold and mats… but so far the devs have gone in blind, and we end up with poor looking legendary gear.
The devs are not making variations of legendary armor. The devs are still way behind with gen 2 legendaries and just released a legendary candle holder with a pinkish Balthazar image… The devs are out of touch in many areas, and it’s obvious judging by recent legendary gears too.
And to address your “vote” thing you’re stuck on… That also assumes players had provided input to the devs and discussions took place to refine said gear… Understand how narrow it is just to make your “you may not like the vote” statement now?
More communication and involvement is always better than less. Again, maybe you are content with all the mystery the devs have to offer, but a lot of companies don’t conduct business like that, are way more transparent and connected to their players, and earn more money as a result… because more players are happier.

More communication and involvement is always better than less. Again, maybe you are content with all the mystery the devs have to offer, but a lot of companies don’t and are way more connected to their players, and eat more money as a result because players are happier.
Devs see the player feedback all the time on the forums. Nothing about some players disliking the trench coats was new to them. No discussion beforehand would have mattered. They made that design choice fully aware that some players would not like it.
They’re out of touch because they don’t develop skins that appeal to you?
Which MMO companies communicate with players more often than Anet? People even complain about the WoW dev communication and that’s the #1 MMO. Just like aesthetics, players’ perception on what is and isn’t “enough” communication will vary.

Response to bolded… that’s where you are wrong and that’s where dragging out the discussion ends.
If the devs change tactics to intentionally open up dialog to fish for and accept feedback (like they rarely do) before hand then the outcome is different. That’s what I’m talking about, and that’s what you are not mentally absorbing.

How is it wrong? They know that some players dislike trench coats but they made the choice to do so anyway. How exactly would a discussion have changed that?
Player feedback has always been welcomed. A lot of what they hear is accepted and incorporated into the game. Just because what you want doesn’t, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen. Yes, the medium legendary armor doesn’t appeal to you. The same can be said for a lot of other armor too.
It’ll also be different from player to player. I have nothing against trench coats just as I don’t have anything against heavy armor being primarily plate armor than say chain mail.

It seems interacting with the playerbase, and discussing options beforehand doesn’t always work out. The WvW polls come to mind…
ANet, I don’t care about the people bickering about your communication in this thread. However, could we get some kind of confirmation that you are/will be fixing the problems with what you have already delivered?
There’s been no responses in this thread in a long time, and it worries me that you plan to leave the problems, such as those with medium armour on humanoid males, as is until further notice.
I’m happy with light armor. kind of disappointed with heavy, especially the colors on it. Still working on medium, but it looks the ugliest.
I see a lot of comments in this topic about people not liking the look of the Legendary armor.
The devs set out to design an animated legendary armor which I would say: they have succeeded.
The way it looks could never satisfy everyone, whereas one finds it extravagant whereas others do not like certain parts of it. Others love the sets and have nothing to complain.
Thankfully, transmutations exist. so people: please stop worrying about these things. If you don’t like it, change it. If every effort from the devs to create something special results into a ****storm like this one, the reluctance of Anet to undertake such gigantic projects (let’s be honest, they took months to properly build these sets) would increase significantly (i expect).
New armor skins increase the possibilities towards making your character unique. I admire the effort Anet took to make these armor sets as well made as they could, and would like to encourage them to keep doing projects like this.
The door is opened towards animated gear pieces, and I’d expect more will come, albeit not in legendary stat form. One look will eventually appeal to you, and would fit your customization requirements.
The game is big and you release only 1 skin per 3 month
C’mon i don’t want to look like everybody else, i feel like you don’t understand what we want, give more particle effects, more alternatives, and for the love of god, stop with the crafting kitten, it is boring, please do some metrics and i’m pretty sure you’ll see the people who craft their legendary is bellow 0.0001% of player base
Legendary light armor: Very nice skin (But why there’s mask covering half of the face, I thought it’s more ‘assassin’ thing), maybe too many crystals ;o I wouldn’t wear gloves and shoulders anyways
Legendary heavy armor: Bulky, doesnt fit my style (I consider it VERY heavy xD)
Legendary merdium armor: I haven’t seen many in game because everybody transmute it, well it’s so ugly you would better wear any other random trenchcoat. Also developers talk: “we made to distinguish medium classes, make it obvious who you fight blah blah” kitten people off because there are some outfits in itemshop that make you look like warrior/ mage whatever. Headgear is some kind of a joke, medium armor should wear mask like light armor, also shoulders are childish, oversized and doesnt fit, chest is meh because of the TRENCHCOAT the only ‘legendary’ pieces that are kinda ‘OK’ are boots and pants :’(
I hope next legendary armor will be more ‘modern’ with usage of ‘smart’ materials that feel and look light (not like current heavy armor), modern armor won’t be the trenchcoat, and fit REALLY tightly (^^ maybe inspire yourself by vabbian armor or some other assassin armors from guild wars because these were very well made)
Also please do not waste 2 years (ahahaha) on producing such a ‘beautiful’ an ‘animated’ armor because you are able to make great outfits for itemshop and release it almost every month.
One more thing – you make everything look HUGE in game – HUGE crystals everywhere – takes half the screen for one character, some wings, GLOW everywhere, thousands of auras, some fancy pink balls flying around your head (aka aurora) I can’t see kitten and my eyes hurt.
When I look back there were no such a things in guild wars, there were rare things that looked good and had not such a stupid shiny glow everywhere. You make it look like some Chinese mmorpg.
(I suspect next legendary trinket will add glowy things on floor/ maybe modify footprints because in my opinion there’s no more place for effect overload)
I hope next legendary wont be ‘raid armor’ and there will be some fancy collection that won’t use any of nowdays raid materials (Obviously it will be fractal legendary armor -.-)
Just adding my two laurels after a yearkittenus. I cleared the first wing back then, but after returning i cant hekp but feel sorry for those working hard to get their armor and then it is this they get after two years and gold, lots of it. Youd think anet couldve made something more inspiring and unique than standard shallow light and medium armor skins. Im sorry but its a downright joke. I applaud the combat effect feat, but that doesnt help when it’s the same trenchcoat-looking design many have complained about previously. One thing is that it’s too thick around the users legs, but nothing resembles legendary about it – other than overused spikes animation. Such a pity, but hey, at least this aint the one be all armor so Anet still can make coin of outfits.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore
It needs a way to keep it in combat mode, nuff said.
