Legendary Armor - raid bound
If you want the reward do the content – simple as that.
But gold isn’t soulbound. Can I have those?
We know that the armor would be bound to raids before the first raid wing even came out, why is this a surprise?

Who cares about stat swap. 99.9% of players will put it on Berserker’s/Vipers and leave it there. Even if it’s something like a Warrior that wants to be able to play Burn warrior or PS warrior, you’d still have to replace the runes and you still would have to change runes each time. It’d be cheaper and easier to just get an ascended set for each stat type you want.

If making legendary armor is comparable to legendary weapons but restricted to the raid it would probably be quicker and easier to make regular ascended armor with all the stats you want to use.

If legendary armor isn’t raid bound, many raiders will probably stop raiding. So Anet is putting the time to make this content and people dont’ do them.
But if legendary armor is raid bound. You’ll have many angry players. Some even might be out for good as the OP is saying.

It wouldn’t make sense to offer something as prestigious as legendary armor through WvW either. Why? It is literally the most mindless content unless you are commanding. That would be like throwing out legendary weapons for HoT meta event content.
I would not be against legendaries being partially gained through high level fractals (75+) but this is the way MMO’s go. If you want the best, you need to play the best. Raiding is really not that difficult in this game. Optimize your character, find a guild/group, clear content. Sorry buddy, looks like you’re out. You can only buy so much of your “soul” with real life money. Some things in this game need to be earned.

You may not know that PvP gear is like work clothes. Maybe your opinion will not be pleasing the dedicated sPvP players, who, I’m sure, like shiny stuff too. But, because eSports, the legendary skin will show up sometime in the PvP Reward Track, maybe.

Thank you for trashing the WvW game mode and his community. OP I understand what you are saying but you have to admit you are very much In the minority. Very few people transmute their legendary weapons to something else, and acquire a legendary weapon just for the QoL features that come with it. A majority seeks legendaries not for this QoL feature (which is still very much undermined by the lack of sigil saving ability) but for the actual skin.
Unfortunately the QoL feature with legendary armor will be vastly undermined because of the rune issue. Rune effects are even more important to a build than sigil effects. And it would be much more cost effective to create multiple sets of ascended and transmute it to the legendary skin, rather than using the stat change feature on legendary armor and buying/switching runes out constantly. I’m trying to understand the logic behind throwing away gold constantly on runes to switch them out.
You’re argument is based on your strong desire for the QoL feature legendary armor brings but this rune issue is rather a strong argument against this QoL feature being viable. I don’t want to say this feature is useless. But outside changing your build, armor stats, and runes like once or twice a year is a waste of money. If you are going to be constantly changing these out like on a weekly basis, your best bet is to go with another set.

Besides Strength and Perplexity, the other runes are cheap or not so performant. I have already a spare ascended armor set with condi stats. But, you know, in wvw, you may face different encounters: you’re roaming, need burst, you may equip Assassin, you’re in the zerg frontline, you may need Soldier or whatever. You don’t have to change runes.
But do you know which is the main, the largest, the only reason why you need to change your stats?

If you aren’t worried about optimal builds by changing runes out then why don’t you just use an exotic set. When you have berserker ascended and want to frontline in WvW, use an exotic set with the right runes and you’re going to be better off than in a legendary set with the wrong runes. There are other MMOs. I haven’t found much that I like about them. But if you have the resources if I were you I’d try some of them out. Maybe you’ll find something you enjoy more.
I complain since anet told us that legendary armor is bound to raids only. It still seems 99% of players still don’t even know/understand this.
It’s the worst HoT decision anet made. Anet should just remove this totally failed s——- they call raids. The whole idea is wrong and totally missplaced in gw2! Anet should go back to their gw 2 release roots and let all little raiding kids stay in WoW or some of the other kitten —-- mmos.

Having unique rewards being pushed out of content because a subset of players complain isn’t fun for everyone either.
That said the option to participate in raids is always there for players who really want to get that new shiny toy. So technically no one is disenfranchised from getting it.
Legendary Armor has the same stats as Ascended but has the bonus of free stat changes.
There has to be a unique reward tied to doing raids to encourage repeated raiding and that’s pieces toward crafting the armor precursors.

I’m not trying to be offensive and this is a genuine question OP… Why do you play GW2??
I mean, WHY do you want Legendary armor? No one over the age of 16 gives a RATS what your character looks like so if you want legandary Armor or Weapons to look cool, there is absolutely no point.
The only REAL reason to get a legendary (or any achievment or goal in a game) is to COMPLETE the legendary. I am about to finish luminescent armor with my girlfriend, I have no intention of ever wearing it, I just like doing the collection.
Same with legendary (going to craft Sunrise I think), I want to craft it, I want to do the farming and the legendary journey. And yes I will use this skin but it’s getting it that interests me, not having it.
After that I will absolutely be going after legendary armor, I hope it’s bloody hard and takes me a while, because then when I get it, I’ll have a big ole smile on my face.
To me saying a goal in a game that has SO many different goals you can work towards, is too hard totally defeats the point of playing!

And from what I’ve gathered of the raid mechanics, you will have to make multiple ascended sets to get through it. Meaning that you obtain the Legendary Armour by proving you don’t need it. Unique skins might have been a better reward, with legendary armour being linked to collections/quests somewhat like the new legendary weapons.

Shouldn’t the reward be… you know… the FUN of doing the raid?
I know, I know. It’s easier to say something like that than it is to design something everyone would find fun. Still, I worry that it’s designed backwards, rewards first and fun second (or third, or fifth, or whatever.)

Truly, I understand that GW2 is much different in certain aspects of the game and this is good, really good and I am really happy for it but there are few flaws like everywhere.
There are people that have lots of alts, they have time to play and to level up, equip those alts.
There are people that have one or two characters, they don’t have that much time to play or they just don’t enjoy playing with more characters due to immersion with just one (I do this).
An example:
When I had my fun time back at WoW, I could roll any class and be viable in EVERY SINGLE PART of ALL raids and all raid wings. I had a paladin and I played it for 3 years straight, no alts. I could fit any role, and it was on par with everyone else. It was just a matter of skill, equipement and a way of playing (druid, shaman, priest, paladin… there was a little difference between those classes in healing aspect but it was irrelevant, they all were viable).
Now! GW2 raids force you to have a wide variety of alternative, equipped (best with ascended) and mastered characters which is quite a stab for I guess… rather significant ammount of players.
I know that this is a special dish served by Anet, but it feels discouraging after you find out that due to certain reasons (PvP) your class is nerfed and you can’t do raids unless you spend time and gold to learn to play and equip a new character that is in the “beloved” META (gosh I really dislike this word).
Now if I wish to do raids with my guild, I have to level up a few characters to be flexible and I am certainly (due to IRL stuff) not going to get them leveled up, equipped and mastered anytime soon.

Then why raid at all, as the only reason to raid seems to be to get armor. The prestige is already ingame. you are 163, I’m 161.

Then again I am okay with my 6 , but nearly 10 characters in Ascneded equipment… Most of all I’m really wondering If you have 3 weight classes will you ppl need to do 3 full armors???
And they’ll all be inflexible due to runes as weapons are through sigils? Well GG. In the end this is only about a legendary skin and maybe adding or subracting a bit of toughness or vitality in power builds.
And ppl are really questioning here why do this only for the rewards, if it’s not FUN…
Cause if it’s only for the rewards ppl will leave after recieving their pre’s as they have no more reason to do raids.
If this is so Why are we having ppl spend so much time on this???

Legendary armor is like ascended armor, it’s a meaningless carrot on a stick for people who would complain otherwise.
And dont forget you can buy thousands of gems and convert them to gold and pay for the raids runs to get legendary armour,very very expensive,but it is an option and a potential nice little earner for anet.
I am actually disappointed with this decision. Legendary Armor would have been perfectly acceptable being acquired outside of raids, as a game based around cosmetic looks the benefit of the Legendary Stats is a bit less important (but still important enough) compared to what the skin means to you as the player and how everyone perceives you.
It would have been fine to have a unique look of Legendary Armor from say…Crafting across all of Tyria versus the Legendary Armor gained in raids. And I know I have always advocated for its acquisition option outside of raids. As a person who likes to raid, but as a player who likes many aspects of GW2 this leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Oh, if you want to suggest that not only legendary armor, but also legendary weapons and backpacks should be accessible using alternate means in every gamemode (PvE, Raid, sPvP, WvW), i’m all for it. There will be definitely more happy people around that way.

The legendary armor collection description says as a prerequisite train in tier yada yada legendary crafting and talk to Mr. So and So in LA to unlock. Ofcourse after training in tier yada yada of legendary crafting and talking to Mr. So and So, suprise nothing unlocked for base armor collection.
That should be the first clue that the armor collection isn’t as easily obtainable as it first seems.
So, one has to ask themselves: Where did I go wrong? Is armor, future content? Is my account bugged?
Upon research, beat Raid X as another prerequisite. Ask again, If I then have to beat raid X to unlock legendary armor collection (again not stated in prerequisite), what else do I have to do to after to begin this journey?
Armor should be a hard earned, time consuming prize. But it shouldn’t be hidden behind the guise that one simply walks into LA and begins crafting. List all prerequisites in the description so people will know firsthand before getting their hopes up.
