Can’t we have a bit more serious looking hardware?

Yeah, it’s been brought up before. What do you expect, that Anet can produce an entirely new item with a new model and animations on demand? They know people want more legendary weapons. Wait.

I honestly can’t choose between the two. But then I am a girl and I love the ridiculousness of a bow that shoots rainbows and unicorns.

But I do agree that more legendary skins would be good, but it should go both ways – serious/dark/“manly” skins for those which currently only have colourful or silly ones and silly ones for those which are currently serious.

But first priority should absolutely go to a bow that shoots bacon.

Whoa whoa whoa. Unicorns are more than just mere horses!

Seriously, though, it would be fantastic if they did have more legendary types. (If they do, demand on the “older” ones would decrease a bit, and I’d be fine with that.)

While I have already transmuted over two super skins because I got sick of looking at them, the super shortbow skin (and I guess longbow since they look pretty much the same?) is the coolest bow skin the game so far, IMO. Got it on my thief. I agree that the legendary bows are terrible but again, JMO.

I’m sorry, but the dreamer is the manliest bow available to those secure with themselves, only sad sad people with insecurities about their “manliness” have any real complaints.

Totally Agree OP this game is dumb stupid legendaries or go home in my opinion..

Legendary bows look bad compared to craftable bows like Aether / Azureflame , Wings of Dwayna and Wintersbark / Wintersbite

I’m a girl and they’re too girly for me! I guess they are just trying to appeal to the female player base perhaps? Would be nice for a slightly less vomity legendary bow alternative. Actually in total I think the bows got the least love in terms of designs, shortbow particularly. Which is annoying because its my favourite weapon to play with XD.
I use corrupted bow instead, or the 8bit one, and have my eyes on wintersbark .

I use the 4500 karma Bow from the JP vendor in LA. The Undead Mermaid one. Think I will keep it until I stop playing. That is for LB, short bow changes costantly but I could go for some different Legendary skins for bows.

While I have no issues with the current skins I do not see myself going for them any time soon if ever.

Skin wise, I plan on getting the Nightmare weapons. My Sylvari ranger looks like he’s a member of Nightmare. While I grind out the tokens for them, I’m hoping to get enough gold to buy the appropriate T1, T2 and T3 culture armor to use as skins to complete the look.

I think the ‘girly’ skins are actually pretty cool, but we just need more skin choices in general.

Would be nice if they unisexed the bow.
I have no problems with Unicorns, mystical creature and all.
My annoyance is the hot pastel pink color…

Some ideas:
Darkening the pink or swapping it out for a pale Red.

Changing the pink to a light violet color to go with the blue

and removing the fkn Tramp Stamp on the Unicorns kitten #8230;..everyone knows Anet made GW2 no need to advertise it on the kitten of a unicorn

doesn’t sound too insecure to me. Sounds like he just doesn’t like the design of the bow and would rather something more explosiony. As a proud owner of the Dreamer, the best part of using it, aside from killing colossal beings with magical flying pink rainbow unicorns is when I kill people in wvw and they add me to pt to tell me how much they hate the bow… then they res, come back to the same place, and die again :P I didn’t get the bow to troll people, it was just a very nice side effect.

Arachnophobia is a pretty cool bow, but I want Rox’ bow. Screw the Legendaries.

IMO… i think the bows are awesome. Im not one of them “G1V3 M3 SP1K3ZZZ PLZZZ!” guys.. I think spikes and darkness isnt to cool actually. I want them to look good, funny, special anything! I just want people to see it and say “Oh, legendary!”

What exactly is so embarrassing about it? Nothing it’s just a preference of tastes. No need to indirectly insult those who do like those for whatever reason just because they are of a different opinion.

You two are a problem that isn’t helping to the gaming community nor to developers/artists. Let me ask you something… what makes something manly or girly? Is it because it’s flowers/ponies? Is it because it’s pink/purple? Why can’t a guy like those things? I mean pink was a boy’s color way before our culture thought of it for a women and purple was a color for the rich/royalty. Nature is not exclusive to women either and why can’t guys be considered nurturing if that’s what you’re trying to imply?

Basically what I am saying is that using those terms ‘manly’ and ‘girlie’ doesn’t do anyone any good or help to create more diverse skins that more people will like. So far the steampunk & crossbow suggestions have been the only ones that give Anet some semblance about what to they should be working on making. So as a caution for the future, not just in this case, try to stay away from creating gender stereotypes as that doesn’t help anyone, least of all you.

That being said, I like both skins for their own reasons BUT I’d love to see more variations overall to all skins (except GS those have more than enough). I really love the idea of a steam punk compact bow for a long bow and the crossbow for a short bow. They could really incorporate some Charr culture into them with their design and style. Or they could for more futuristic ancient technology that creates interesting juxtaposition.
[Edit] Perhaps I’m taking this a bit too seriously but when people throw out generics like that from an artistic standpoint all I can think of is.. “What then do you REALLY want because you’re not telling me anything useful.”

It’s a figure of speech, and/or poking fun at the stereotypical macho attitude that a lot of gamers have. There’s nothing in the post to indicate that he was serious, so why take it so seriously?

If I could use a bow on any of my characters I’d get the sparklepony bow in a heartbeat!

I can understand that for some character designs it’d be nice to have a robust looking bow, but I also think there’s a lot of people with serious insecurities to address in this game. Every week you hear people asking for mesmers to have their pink butterflies removed as people want to play one, but can’t bare to go near anything pink xD

Is it really worthwhile to get all bent out of shape over a casual comment? A few days ago I made a lame joke and someone jumped on me and accused me of being sexist or something because of it.

When someone says “that’s not what I meant,” why insist that he did mean it? Just say, ok, whatever, and get on with life.

What I like about Kudza are the golden arrows it shoots. That effect is freakin sweet.

My comment was my opinion,and you all know the old saying.I should have stated i would not use such a bow,as i am not into unicorns..They should have gone along the lines of the lore of the game.

Interestingly I am not ‘bent out of shape’ over their comment. As I said previously I am taking it as it is said in context to the thread as they are not giving any sort of indications as to being serious or not. Since the OP is being serious in their request then I can assume that unless obvious, people posting will be a response to the OP. Not to mention that if it IS a spoof then why can’t it be address publicly for those who DO share that mentality? I didn’t attack him personally or jump down his throat. I merely asked why would it be embarrassing and why it couldn’t have been phrased differently to show a difference of taste? A social statement if I may like you’re implying their comment was.

That sounds interesting and I agree they could have pulled a lot of stuff from lore to create the lengendaries making them incredibly interesting while rich with history. Any specific lore or aspect you’d like to see translated into the bows?

No, it didn’t bother me in the slightest. It’s just an example, because we are not communicating face to face the information conveyed by body language and voice is missing, so it’s easy to misinterpret what is being said. That’s why you need to be willing to let things go. When someone says he’s not insecure then assume that he means it…
