So i was wondering, why collecting 5 legendaries give the same amount of AP and NO title compared to having twice the same legendary? That seems to make no sense to me

Because the others cried harder. You need to cry with more passion

Twice Told Legend is anet’s lazy way of “fixing” the issue of people having 2x the same one from back when they were soulbound instead of account bound.

I think it’s better than nothing. The lazier way would have been to do nothing.

I’d say the issue wasn’t caused by the account binding of legendaries, but rather by the introduction of the Wardrobe. There is no ideal solution and, whether or not they chose to allow some form of compensation, one party is going to feel slighted by ANet.

However the achievement is available to anyone, and the values of achievements and those to which titles are attached has always been arbitrary and inconsistent. This is no special case.

Before the wardrobe update if you wanted to dual-wield a legendary you had to make 2 identical ones. (And making the second was just as hard and expensive as the first.) After the wardrobe update you only need 1 and a regular ascended weapon to apply the skin to.

This left many people with useless duplicate legendaries. Sure you can change the stats, but most people don’t change their build often enough for that alone to justify the time, effort and money they put into making a second legendary. The achievement and title was supposed to compensate them for that.

The achievement for having 5 different legendaries doesn’t give any more points or a title because you get 5 legendaries to use, it’s a bonus on top of what you’ve already got not compensation for losing something.

Because the cases are different with the introduction of the wardrobe.

If you have 5 legendary weapons once the wardrobe system was introduced means that you have 5 legendary weapon skins unlocked with all that implies (auras, footprints, etc) for every single character you have, instead of only once for each legendary weapon.

However, people that made the same legendary weapon twice so they could dual wield, or use the same legendary weapon on two characters, would actually mean a lot of work and money wasted, because it would have been much cheaper and easier to just make it once and then use a transmutation charge to apply the same skin to a second weapon. Which is why they get a title and some extra AP.

I built 2 legendary torches recently just for the title. 3000 gold for 25 AP is totally worth it

At no point did those weapons become useless. They’re still best-in-class, as people like to bandy the phrase, and they kill critters just as readily.

As for now having two identical special snowflakes that could now be rubberstamped across their whole account…. well, frankly, they’re putting too much value in a collection of shiny pixels to begin with if they can’t congratulate themselves on their accomplishments just because they got easier with time ;D Mount Everest practically has a turnstile and ticket-taker installed, but I don’t think Sir Hillary is moaning that people have forgotten he climbed the thing.
