List your favorite legendary weapon. I am running a survey. Also , if you don’t mind please list Legendary weapons that have disappointed you. Thank you ! Here are mine in descending order from Favorite to Least Favorite.

All the others, most specifically the “troll legendaries” such as The Dreamer and Quip.

I don’t really like legendaries, I think the effect is way over the top.

I like things like chiropodea or Immobulus. Interesting skins but not way over the top with effects.

If I have to pick, I like the frostfang or jugglenaut

Disappointing:
Frostfang .. since i most of the time play axe warrior, and don’t really like that Legendary.

Bifrost. Wish i could have a character use it as a quarterstaff melee weapon instead of pretty guardian loot stick, but that discussion is for another thread.

I don’t really like legendaries, I think the effect is way over the top.

There is no such thing as over the top effects. More particle effects are always welcome.

Personally I really like the painterly effect of the Sunrise and Twilight. The painterly trail they leave when you swing them, it looks really nice. Therefor they are among my favorite legendaries.

But what I don’t like about Twilight and Sunrise is the grip on either of them. The grip looks like it’s made out of bone. It’s so out of place, especially on the Sunrise. Why couldn’t Sunrise and Twilight have a normal metallic grip wrapped in leather? That would have been so much cooler.

I don’t much care for Eternity though. The shining crystal at the pommel looks out of place to me, especially during the day when Eternity looks like Sunrise.
Eternity could have been really awesome, but instead Anet chose to make it look like a slightly more fancy version of Twilight/Sunrise. Such a let down.

Least favourite? Tbh I like them all (I love really over the top ‘look at me’ effects) but if I had to have one as my least favourite it would probably be bifrost.

The only one I really do not like is Kudzu. Not too fond of Eternity; I turned my Sunrise and Twilight into Eternity and sold it… I have made and sold the Dreamer twice to fund other projects, both times reasoning that it isn’t worth having a legendary that only my rarely played thief will use.

Thats partly in comparison to their comparable skins. I think flameseeker is perhaps better, but the shield skins in the game have by a massive lead, the better range of quality skins imo and so flameseeker doesnt stand out as much in that respect

The Dreamer is my favorite.

Frostfang is probably my least favorite just due to unoriginal design. It’s a corrupted axe that breathes ice. That’s it.

Favorite legendary: None. They all give me a headache. Right along with the rest of all the particle effects. Besides that, I just think they all look rather bland for a supposed legendary weapon. Take away the flashy, headache inducing particle effects and there’s not much to the skin itself. (imo anyway)

Dreamer of course…it shoots unicorns. I just wish I could use it on more characters than just my thief and ranger. Mesmer needs to shoot unicorns….NEEDS TO!

Not a fan of the big swingy swords of screen blockiness or Bolt for some reason. The skin is sort of ugly. And Quip…omg I want to murder my speakers when I hear someone spamming the 1 skill over and over again. Yeah sure, my Dreamer neighs a bit…but holy kitten that honk noise Quip makes will drive me into a blood rage. The rest of the legendaries are pretty meh to me, I am in no hurry to make another.

Wish the Minstrel wasn’t so kitten ugly. Why you make it look so hideous but have lovely music notes ANet???

The spear has, in my opinion, the best effects of any legendary. Bifrost is beautiful and a lot more subtle than most. Bolt greatly appealed to me two years ago when I was making it, but is a bit too over the top for me now.

The shield has a great lore connection, and is quite elegant but is limited by how little use it would get. Rodgort’s effects are just below the “over the top” limit, and the weapon simply looks nice. It’s also limited by the low usefulness of Torch.

The Dreamer is far too over the top, and Quip’s sound effects are some of the most annoying things ever made.

Most disappointing:
Pretty much all of the offhands, but Minstrel is the suckiest by far.
Quip, Dreamer and Moot for being joke weapons.

I don’t like any of them actually and wih there was an option to not have to see their graphical/particle fx.

The only one I don’t like is Pinky Pie’s Party Pistol...er Quip.

Twilight, Predator, Sunrise.

Howered when it comes to art, ac gs hands down. Rest can’t even come close to that (shame its glows at night)

ps. frostfang has a good art too but i dislike ice weapons in general.

Why? Only legendary with some kind of lore, and the lore behind it is huge. It’s also seriously so detailed and the book is written in New Krytan, a text that can be translated, which are quotes from an NPC from original Guild Wars. The name itself is the name of the whole original Guild Wars: Prophecies game.

Why? Because everyone and their mother and grandma runs around with one. You don’t even get the “Whoa” feeling when you see them. There’s also no story behind them at all.

Too bad shields aren’t all that worthy of using most of the time.

I really like Frenzy on my Engie,.

There is a staff in development that showed up on the forums a year ago, it has a raven on it. I think that would be my favorite if it were actually released.

I dislike all of them to varying extents.

Bifrost is the one I see most often that bothers me the least, until I look at it closely.

Cheers to that love the tragically loud, over the top appearances, but even if they were being handed out for free, I wouldn’t ever use the skins.

Different strokes and all that.

Eternity is my weapon of choice for my mesmer and guardian
(I was originally just going to give one Sunrise and the other Twilight, because it suits their themes best)
In Sparkfly Fen where day and night seem non-existent, it helps me tell time :P
Then again, my guardian is a sylvari so I can tell day and night based on her glow…
I’m very fond of both swords and having both in one suits me just fine

Predator is the one I’m working on right now (very casually)
I personally just like the Hunter as a rifle and when I get it, I’d settle for just having it. But why get a precursor and go halfway when you can go for the legendary
Its got fire, whats not to like?

It just seems so…boring :/

I’m not a hammer fan and I’m yet to find one that makes me go: WOW, I wanna play with a hammer
I’d rather just stick with my Ascalon Catacombs hammer then work on this thing..

Favorite:
The Predator – it’s a sniper rifle that looks awesome and still fits the theme.
Bolt – it’s electric.
Kamohoa’li Kotaki – shark theme, nice look, spirit sharks.

Meh-tier:
Greatswords – too common, the effect doesn’t always look good.
Incinerator – only fitting for a fire-focused elementalist, because seriously, what kind of a stealthy fighter like a thief would want a blowtorch as their weapon?
Flameseeker Prophecies – looks blocky, blocking with a book doesn’t feel right.

Least favorite (Anet-please-create-some-alternatives tier):
Quip – ok, so my towering Norn Engineer finally gets his ultimate weapon with no equal… it’s a party pistol. Hmmmmmkay.
The Moot – ditto.
The Dreamer, Frenzy – no comments.

I thinnk all the other ones are ugly, TBH. I guess The Bifrost is ok, but I don’t play guardian or mesmer and it would look ridiculous on my necro. Overall I find the legendary weapons to be too silly, oversized, or “froo-froo” (sp??) for my taste. At least Predator looks like a weapon. Bolt doesn’t look like a real sword, but then maybe 3% of the swords in this game actually look like swords.

I’ve made 2 out of 5 so far, i doubt i’ll make all of them but these are my first picks. Dislike the greatswords cause i feel like many people have one of the 3 swords now, and all the greatsword skins look waaaay too similar. Which makes it seem like even more people have them.

Bifrost, nice tip of the hat to Norse mythology with the name and the rainbow theme, while not being massively over the top with an obnoxious trail and glowy crap like other legendaries.

Kraitskin is in fact the only legendary i like (the weapon skin) that my characters could use…

Rest, I think are not so noteworthy.

I like the Dreamer though! I even made it hoping one day I can use it on my Mesmer.

Unfortunately, I craft legendaries for their functionality and made Bolt, Bifrost, Sunrise as a result. I am very close to Meteorlogicus though, just need the mats and the clovers.

Flameseeker Prophecies, hands down. The flavor and the esthetic are incredible. It’s too bad shields are the worst.

My favorites and why, in no particular order:

Meteorlogicus: There’s a lot of detail and moving parts, from the planets, to the stars, to the sun, to the clouds, to the glow effect, which all gives it a very cool look and feel. It looks like a lot of thought was put into it and it manages to stand out without being eye blindingly flashy.

Bolt: I mostly like this one because of the design of the sword itself. It’s very detailed and intricate, with the dragons going up the blade, a cool hilt and a generally awesome design. Even if this had no particle effects, I’d still like it.

Rodgort: The only reason I haven’t crafted this one is because torches in general are pretty useless. Aside from that though, this is easily one of the best looking legendaries in the game. I mean, it moves and breathes fire in a way that makes it look alive. That’s pretty cool right?

Incinerator: Again, a cool design for a dagger that stands out without being too eye blindingly flashy. It’s also easily the biggest dagger model in the game, which at least gives it some hope of being seen on an Asura thief. XD

Cool, but not necessarily cool enough to go through the effort to craft:

Bifrost: I like this legendary, but mostly for the design of the staff itself. What does put me off a bit is the overuse of rainbows. It would be nice to have a darker legendary staff alternative for characters who don’t want to look like they were sent down to Tyria by the Care Bears.

Eternity/Twilight/Sunrise: I get the idea, and these legendaries certainly stand out, but aside from the particle effects – which are indeed flashy – there’s not much to the design of these legendary. It’s really just a flat blade with a sky texture popped into it. From a sword blade point of view, I much prefer Bolt’s detailed design to the greatswords’ flat design.

Flameseeker Prophecies: I actually really like this shield. I like how the pages light up and turn when you draw it. What I don’t like is that weird glow barrier around the edges of the shield, which detracts away from the detail a bit. I think the shield would look cool without that. It would also be nice if shields were useful enough to consider crafting this.

Kudzu: A cool design with lots of detail, but also flaws. The way the string shows on the bow completely breaks it’s aesthetic feel and theme, so I really thing it would be cool if they replaced the string with something else that suits Kudzu. Also, the flower footprints look like someone threw up their vegetable dinner from last night. I think it’s just the colour choice of the footfall that makes it look a bit insipid as opposed to colourful.

Downright awful legendaries:

The Minstrel: Easily the most uninspired, boring legendary in the game, with no close competitors for the bottom spot. Even as far as foci go, there are many others that look aesthetically superior to or even more flashy than the Minstrel, so I really don’t see a point to crafting it. It would be cool if they changed the model to create a humanoid or angelic figure built into the harp, and when you draw it, its hands move and pull the strings, causing them to light up and play musical notes.

The Dreamer: Okay, so this one is not exactly “aweful” from a design perspective (it’s very detailed and all), but my main issue with it is that the only class I’d dream of using a short bow on (no pun intended) is the thief, and having a bow that shoots rainbow ponies on a thief with a dark theme just seems meh.

Frostfang: Compared to Rodfort, which really moves and looks alive, Frostfang seems rather dull and lifeless. Just the lower jaw moves with a bit of ice breath coming out the mouth, but aside from that, it really doesn’t feel legendary at all from an aesthetic design point of view.

Kraitkin and bolt. Made Kraitkin and will wait until I get zap, not really in a rush though.
