So I read the upcoming changes on Legendaries and wonder what is going to happen to those who are just short of finishing their legendary? My only missing item is the actual precurser. Will the legendary recipes change along with the ability to build your precurser? Is it just the precurser crafting ability itself or does this affect the gifts as well? I hope they have kept this in mind. If they require these new crafting materials as a part of the gifts and a crafting level of 500 how is this fair to those who have been grinding for several months farming, making the gifts required, that are just sitting in storage waiting for that elusive precurser to drop? This was not explained well enough in my opinion and has me nervous that 6 months of work is going to turn into a year. Please Anet, explain how this will affect us more.

They’ve already said existing methods of obtaining precursors will not be removed. You still have the same ways to get it; Mystic forge, TP, random world drop and anything else they add with this new crafting to 500 method.

They didn’t say Legendary acquisition would be changing. They didn’t say anything about a new recipe for Legendaries.

You’re introducing issues that weren’t even brought up.

I think it’s a very valid question.

Making the precursor will require crafting level 500 and lots of new materials.

Then to actually make the Legendary (with Ascended weapon stats) will only require crafting 400? I’d like to see that confirmed as well ‘cause it seems odd to allow making an Ascended level weapon with ’only’ level 400 skills. Especially if, as they have stated in the past, precursors will continue to drop in loot.

I have my precursor and am slowly grinding my last materials… do I need to panic-finish it or not?

They will be happy I guess because, while they can still wait for their precursor to drop or get lucky on the mystic forge, they will also be able to work towards it in other ways.. what’s the downside?

From the post: " Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.", so it will take time and money to get a precursor, not just luck, it’s not like the precursor patch hits and suddenly the next day everyone has a precursor.

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

Yeah, people were telling me earlier that I should dump my precursor now (working towards Meteorlogicus, have everything but 1/2 the T6 mats and Charged Lodes basically) because they’re going to drop in price like rocks. I just laughed and said I wasn’t selling. Do people really think the crafting recipes for precursors are going to be cheap? It’s not gonna be “Ancient Wood Scepter Casing” plus “5 globs of ectoplasm”… it’ll be something outrageous. They already said in the blog post that new crafting would requires lots of account bound materials that could only be acquired once per 24 hrs (or something along those lines). I don’t think crafting a precursor will be too terribly easy or cheap. Somehow, I think the current precursors on the market will be just fine…

If the sum of price of the materials needed is higher than the current price of PCs, I wonder if they would adjust to match that, if they are TP-able in the first place.

Well you just have to think about what kind of materials are going to be involved. You KNOW T6 fine mats will have to be involved in some way (whether straight up, or as a once per 24 hr converted format, like the Charged Quartz). And we know Anet’s penchant for recipes requiring full stacks of 250. I can’t imagine a precursor crafting recipe totaling up to less than 100g (just 250 Vials of Powerful Blood would be something like 75g as it stands now, and demand for these things will only increase if they really are used in the recipes). So yeah maybe the crafting will be cheaper for expensive precursors like Dusk, Dawn, or The Legend… but cheaper than Venom, The Bard, or even something like Storm? I highly doubt it.

I would really like to know if the overall recipe will change. I’ve been solidly working towards The Bifrost for 3 months straight now, I’ve finished Gift of Mastery, I’ve got more than half of all my T6 Mats and like half of the requirements for the Gift of the Bifrost. So I can assuredly say, i’m around 50% of the way.

I’ve decided to wait out on the new Legendaries, because the more than likely thing is that something I like more than Bifrost will pop up, and I would regret finalizing the Bifrost if something I DO like more comes out…

So for now, i’d just like to know if the new Legendaries will still require G. of Fortune, G. of Mastery, G. of Specific-Legendary and Precursor (which will require more gifts by itself), or will it be like “New G. of Bullkitten! Now requires 250 of T7 mats” leaving us all like “uuuuuuuuhhhhhhh”

I kitten love kittens! :3

Not only that, but we know (and it’s confirmed) that they’re updating the existing Legendary skins (which could only mean the remaining underwhelming ones like Meteor or Minstrel)

Making investing in precursors like Storm a worthwhile investment (I have two)

I think it’s reasonable to expect changes to Legendary skins to happen before the new ones come out.

I feel like you don’t actually know how Legendaries are made OP… there is no reason to even suspect that this would be an issue.

You are essentially creating a non-existent issue for no reason other than to make an extra thread.

Given how I read the blog post, I don’t think we have to worry about this. It seemed – to me – like the only thing that will be changing is the fact that you’ll be able to craft a precursor, in ADDITION to getting it through RNG or mystic toilet. I certainly am not going to rush finish my Meteorlogicus. Why would they change the parts of the system that no one has complained about? Everyone has been fine with the system of the various gifts.

Just theorycrafting and guessing here, but do you think that the Precursor for the new Legendary Staff will still be the Legend? Or will there be 2 Staff Precursors, one for each staff…. If there’s even a new staff. It’d be a bummer to wait so long to see new Legendaries and then see there’s no new legendary of the weapon you like :P

Anyways, I do hope they use the same Precursor, meaning there’s only 1 staff pre, 1 Shortbow pre, 1 dagger pre, etc..

What do you think? Will there be a new Legendary of each weapon type (Except GS, since there’s already 3 <<’)

It’s entirely reasonable to expect a new precursor. I just don’t think we’ll be seeing another Greatsword precursor considering there are two.

I hope we don’t see any other Greatsword Legendary for 3 years to come. I’m so sick of them, everyone and their moms have Sunrise/Twilight. ENOUGH GREATSWORDS! They already have the overall best skins in the game, completely contrary to Staff, Maces, etc, where all skins suck .

Preach. Greatswords get all the love. And you’re right, when I see someone with Sunrise/Twilight I’m not at all impressed. I’m just like “oh, that overused skin.”

They have to make it really hard to craft precursors or legendary weapons will be easy to get and won’t be that “legendary”.
I’ve bought my precursor for 600g from tp, then if they want to reduce precursor prices to make them easier to acquire, they have to give some extra items or gifts to existing legendary weapon owners to make it fair. (cause we’ve paid much more)
Also they have to fix existing legendary weapons’ effects before adding new ones.
Legendary weapon aura effects need to be fixed first, my aura is not visible in many situations. I have to switch weapons to make it appear again.

I don’t think they already told us yet whether the method they are adding to obtain precursors will include the precursors that are already in the market or are they new of precursors for the legendaries they are adding. I won’t be surprised if they do this to preserve the integrity/rarity of current legendaries while giving players who already have legendaries as well as people people who don’t have them yet both reasons to make the new ones at the same time. I won’t be surprised if the new ones will be account-bound on craft also.
