Legendary Grind (500 badges of honor)
find offpeak hours to jump. i get about 30 boh per hour of wvw kills and the 15 from jp daily. just keep at it!
I think they did well to give pvp-phobes a way to get their badges without having to fight other players.
Note that badges are account-bound, not soul-bound, so you can run characters to map-complete the wvw maps and do the jumping puzzle all to serve the character working on its legendary.
I think it’s fine. It’s one of the few non-eBayable parts of the legendary process and has its place in the game. It’s unfortunate that wvw isn’t better, but it is enjoyable with the right crowd.
For my legendary, I did EB jp every day on all my level 10+ chars. Then I spammed our borderland jp(fewer enemies go to the JP there) on all my chars. If I was really into grinding I would delete/recreate a char and keep doing the borderland JP on a level 2 char. It took me 3 days of about 4hours of play each day to get all 500 badges. You can get all 500 in one day if your borderland JP isn’t camped(it rarely is).
Tip: Do JP’s naked. If you get ganked, just come back later or switch to a different JP. Spamming your home borderland JP is faster/safer than the others.
It’d be rather good I feel, if badges were awarded (consistently) for actually completing objectives rather than killing players. Say, 2 for capping out a sentry (the lone charr warriors standing around). 10 for a supply camp, 30 for a keep, and 100 for the castle. therefore players are encouraged to actually do objective.
Oh and of course defence points, say 5-10 for every 3 minutes spent activly defending.
Understand your pain. Im not a wvw fan as i dont build pvp chars and consequently i usually get owned and the gain for my weap has been grindy here. However, legendaries should reward for all aspects of the game and the badges do represent that in their own way.
The way i looked at it was that these legendaries were meant to be a long term goal, therefore just doing the jps every day for a couple of months before i log, was a reasonable trade off from my perspective
I do agree with sarabi tho about rewarding objectives as well as kills
It’s really not that difficult… easier than the loadstones.
Without trying, i’ve accumulated somewhere in the vacinity of 400 and i’m not in WvW all that often.
Keep Lords usually drop 2, so join the zerg and take some keeps.
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)
EB Jumping puzzle. Wait for some one to say mesmer portal then log onto all your toons and get a free trip near the final chest. In the mean time you can flip camps etc. The keep/tower/claiming NPCs drops badges some times.
I only wish it was as easy for us that don’t enjoy PvE… vs you just not enjoying PvP : /

Yeah, did mine at random wee morning hours, about an hour a day, straight jumping. Not too bad, just tedious. GL with the rest, I still need to make my clovers. You said 245-250…of what? Guessing shards…were you suing the 1 clover recipe, or 10 clover one?
I did the 1 clover recipe i wanted to go for the 10 but i dont think i could take the bad procs to heart :P i used like 245 obi shards overall. i did a final round of 150 today to get my final 40, i didnt mind to much that it was less than 33% because i was proccing obi shards from the clover recipe at one point and t6 mats are nice to have.
the only part about clovers was when you dntt make a single clover in 10 and you are like what is this! then you make like 4 in a row and your like Aweee yeah :P
Thanks for some of the tips guys ive been doing the jumping puzzle on my main and some alts, whoever said the tip about new low levels is a genius! level 2 warrior with the warhorn is perfect spamming that now just getting as many as i can while no1 is about. getting like 4-5 badges everytime.

I think part of the idea behind Legendaries is to reward people who enjoy all aspects of Guild Wars 2, including WvW. If you enjoy it, you will get 500 badges over time, without any need to grind (which is more than can be said for MANY other Legendary components). If you don’t enjoy WvW, well, IMO you don’t deserve a Legendary (just as someone who only enjoys WvW and doesn’t enjoy PvE doesn’t deserve one, IMO).

That makes me feel a bit better Dreamer lol. I am sure if I dumped those shards in for a 10x recipe and it failed, I’d probably shut it down for a long while lol. That would indeed be a kick in the guts, or something that rhymes.
Those badges are the last thing i’m gonna go for. Like, THE very last thing. haha
That said as far as the JPs go, waving to enemy players on the JP usually signifies that you come in peace and most of the time they’re there for the same thing. Me and a few guildees were being escorted via mesmer portal and we were actually being accompanied by other players from other servers just because they saw what we were doing and our mesmer waved to them. lol
It’s a known fact that getting those badges can be a pain and I like to believe that JPs are considered “peace” areas lol
They’re actually being renamed to “Badges of Jumping”
Just do the jump puzzles once a day and you’ll get them in no time at all.

Good lord. You’re getting some darn good drop rates, then.
I’ve been playing WvW more and more lately, and despite a decent kill rate and several hours of commitment, the badges just do not drop very fast for me at all. I hit up WvW today and left several hours later with maybe 10 badges total.
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.
