Legendary Legends
The rest of the legendary set got delayed so long because making the story took too much time. I wouldn’t hold your breath
Legendary Legend. Season 5 title confirmed
I completely agree with the OP.
I rather doubt the names have real depth. They seem to be more descriptive than anything else.
“why is it called Astralaria?”
“Astralaria is an iridescent axe that features the effects of stars and constellations in the night sky seeping into the world, a rotating armillary and a sextant with a moving arm on the pommel.”
Astral- of or related to the stars
Aria- that normally refers to a music. Maybe they are trying to suggest that the weapon is a ‘melody of stars.’ Or maybe they needed an ending to astral and aria sounded good.
If they don’t have depth but are chosen as a flowery/descriptive name then there’s no lore to put in a book and they’d have to make up chunks of lore and fit them into the game, as well as taking dev time to to do the lore making, the book making and putting both in the game. In addition, names that reference the real world, such as Chuka and Champawat which were two man eating tigers in India, would very difficult to fit into the lore of Tyria.

Actually, it wasn’t about story, it was about the collections which was their story element. I’m asking not for the collections, but just story…this should be much easier to do, since it really only involves developing the Lore for the legend of the weapon’s origins. It would basically just give the Narrative group a chance have some fun and interesting input into the Legendaries

I agree, but it would be interesting to see them make legendaries that have a more Lore/Story based name. Like Calidbolg (sp??), a weapon we can’t get or make, but has an amazing story to it.

I guess. Like Chuka and Champawat that name, Caladbolg, is a real world reference. It’s not something unique to the world of Tyria.

It’s related to Excalibur, King Author’s sword.
Caladbolg. (Ex) Calibur

Caladbolg seems to be generic sort of name for a mythical greatsword wielded by a hero.

I loved the precursor journeys. they were interesting, they forced you to explore places out of your way and find easter eggs everywhere. they were fun. they were creative. this new system of just “buy kitten” is cheap and insulting. i would really rather wait a year and get epic legendary adventures than this kitten where its just a gold sink.
