Hey, I’ve been wanting to transmute my legendary weapons so I can obtain different stats, but I’m still unsure of what will happen when Anet increases the stats of legendary weapons to that of ascended items. Anet has come out and said that this would happen eventually. I am just unsure if transmuting them would conflict with the update when it would come out, as many items that are transmuted retain their original name when you unequip or equip if anyone has noticed. I’m just a little paranoid that when Anet does increase the cap on legendary weapons, people who transmuted them would keep the same exotic stats that they decided they would rather have. So basically my question is, mainly to Anet, is it safe to transmute legendary weapons so when the time comes and legendary’s receive their boost to ascended stats our weapons will still receive the boost of that certain stat set without bugs and such?

transmuting destroys 2 items and makes a 3rd one.

Also, the game retains the weapon as the stats, not the skin. You can check this by turning on “Game Messages” in your chat. When any transmute item gets damaged or destroyed, it will name the item from before the transmute (the item with the stats, not the current shown skin’s name).

Well I already transmuted mine without a second thought. Even if it doesn’t upgrade, it kinda sucks to have pvt ascended and you’ll have to get some ascended weps to transmute anyway. But if they do upgrade, we’ll be the ones laughing

Getting ascended isn’t going to be that difficult, anyways. The worse that can happen is it’ll be time-gated.
