Legendary Weapons
The way I see it, it doesnt matter how expensive a legendary skin is because the harder it is to obtain the more it is worth.

The problem about the quest for the legendary weapon, is not how hard it is, but how it “blocks” you from playing other toons. It takes month to get (fine) but shouldnt you be able meanwhile you get the weapon be allowed to share karma points between all your characters??
I think this is a debatable thing because karma is what gives meaning to playing dynamic events. Sharing the karma between accounts will very much make you rich karma wise and less obligated to do dynamic events.
I atleast would be satisfied if for all that effort and monthly patience in getting this legendary weapon, it is account bound.
Make the legendary weapon account bound, after all the monthly sacrifice of getting it, it’s a great reward for us players!
I’m not sure about this but I think the way it is setup is that some components can be traded, but some cannot. So you can play other toons to obtain those, and I’m pretty you could run through multiple lvl 80 characters and still not have enough of the tradeables to make one legendary.
I prefer it to be this way because it shows commitment to the character with the weapon.

Wow, those legendary weapons look amazing!
Looking forward to starting up my journey to one of those!
Too much work for a skin?
Then don’t do the work. SImple.
This.
It was the foundation of Guild Wars, and is the foundation of Guild Wars 2.

Say this, you get the twilight greatsword for your guardian, but you also have a mesmer and he can’t equip such sword, but you want him to also have a legendary greatsword, then you think kitten i gotta go all over through the uber farm and do this for each character.) Don’t you think you deserve after all the hard work to get that legendary weapon account bound???
Meh, silly discussion but I won’t stop you from having it, guild wars 2 was boasted not being an item based game. Why? So those that play casual could always compete with those that don’t. Those that have the time and want to work for it can get kickbut skins and that’s some pretty cool stuff. But if that’s not for you then GW2 probably isn’t. This has been known for years now and actually debated to death. Just saying, silly for in the end this won’t change it’s not in the devs vision of the game. I for one am glad and love the pvp just for this reason.

Heading back on topic…
Do I think it is too much work for a skin? That’s a tough one… But first think of this. Is it really ‘Just’ a skin? There is no straight answer but the more thought I put into this topic the more I realise that it actually isn’t ‘Just’ a skin.
I understand exactly how you feel Daedalus.9382 and I totaly agree, but consider the statistics that aren’t listed… The weapon is a symbol of your effort. It proves to others that you really do have the skill and statistics you require. When you wield this weapon you don’t just wield a skin you wield every last bit of work you put into it. That alone is enough tell other people to keep clear (and if they don’t… well that’s where your skill comes in). It also gives power to your entire group of people, it is a symbol that your team has the better player(s) and lowers enemy moral. You’re not just wielding a weapon that anyonecan use… your wielding a weapon that can be used ONLY by those that are worthy of it.
So with that in mind I started to feel a bit better. Oh, and I was reliefed to hear that they will never be outdated aswell… So you’ll only have to do it all once.
But… It would be nice to see the slightest stat boost. Just to make you feel better :D
It is a lot of work but they are nice weapons (bring clover craft rate to 100% wink wink) they don’t make or break the game even if there was a little buff that set them apart more then custom attack graphics and 20 more attack. second socket slot maybe? a 4th stat? shooting flowers and rainbows is good enough for me but a second slot or 4th stat would be amazing. hoping to have it by sometime next month
I have been looking into legendaries since I’m almost done all the hearts and such… Wow…All of this work for a skin? The stats are not what i would of thought. Anet…you really need to rethink these. All this work for a skin=many players won’t do it and will move along to either another toon (which is fine for you) or another game (where you loose money from micro transactions and such). Yes I’m making my argument in regards to how it will affect you because I don’t think you really care about me complaining that the stats on legendaries suck. Make them better and a lot of people will do more than one, sticking around for a much longer time until an expac. I’m not asking for something so OP that it breaks the game but a little boost isn’t going to break it and will make it much more worth it.
I just wanted to respond quickittenhat the skin=proof of your skill and that others should beware of your dangerous status and such. I couldn’t disagree more. This isn’t skill. This is time. All that this skin says is that you put in the time. What requires so much skill to get? Some people already have them because they put a lot of time into it. I’m only playing 8 hours or so per day which isn’t enough time to get it done just yet. I will get them faster than a lot of players who cannot put in my 8 hours per day. It doesn’t mean that I have any more skill than any of them. It just means that I’m able to log on much more. These skins are truly nothing but skins. Someone tried to brag to me that they had one already and I just said congrats you have a very high play time! It doesn’t impress me or make me jealous like in games where only a slew of players could get these types of weapons even after months and months of trying because it was HARD to obtain.

Then I guess we wont be seeing you with one. These weapons have amazing skins and if you just want something so you can be a demigod then you’re playing the wrong game.
I am not asking to be a demigod. I’m asking for a slight boost in stats. Not a game breaking option. If you read my posts properly, you would of seen that I don’t want something so OP to be game breaking. Also, you will be seeing me with more than one as I have a lot of TIME.
Legendaries are fine as they are, although some need visual improvements to bring up the par with Twilight & Sunrise.
albeit we havent seen all the legendaries yet, so far i’ve only seen
Twilight, Sunrise, Juggernaught, Bifrost.
Bifrost in particular looks really bad compared to the rest thus far, Twilight & Sunrise both having spectacular particle effects and Juggernaught causes your armour to gain a silvery-metal look.
If the legendaries had a stat-bonus higher than exotics you can expect a massive outrage from the playerbase.
sometimes i wonder why people buy really expensive cars that go over 200mph but here in the UK the maximum speed your allowed to go on a motorway is 80mph, so it’s clear to me they get the car for the “skin” because it “looks good”.
Its LEGENDARY dude. They should take a long time and be hard as kittens to get.
And Anet knows how to do hard weapons. Destroyer, Tormented, Oppressor, and Envoy sets took at the very least a month of solid focused game-play to the cause for the easier ones and well approaching or over a year for the higher end stuff.
So no, there is never “too much work” for a skin. In fact, the more work it is, the more rare the skin becomes, to more the prestige of having it. This has been posted a million other places, but ill add it again since some people must have missed it:
Guild Wars isn’t and never was about players getting their jollies by having a belt buckle that gives them a stat based advantage over other players. Guild Wars is and has always been about player’s getting their jollies by being more skilled than other players…and having a bad kitten belt buckle to show off an accomplishment to all passersby.
I feel sorry for your disposition. If they follow the same trend they are known for, every content patch and expansion is just going to increase the time and investment needed to create these skins. Destroyer -> Envoy , Obsidian -> Vabbian.
Your joking right? You could easily gain any to all of those skins you listed in well less than a month, and you could do multiples of some of them as well.
Legendaries in their current state should not be legendaries, sure they look amazing BUT the only way to get them is a grindfest. Theres absolutely nothing legendary in the way you acquire them. Eventually EVERYONE on the server who continues to play this game will have one. There should deffinitely be more of a challenge in acquiring them.
If the legendaries had a stat-bonus higher than exotics you can expect a massive outrage from the playerbase.
If people cannot understand that an exotic that takes 5 minutes to make vs a legendary that takes about a month to get may have different stats, then they should be mad for another reason ;p There is already a difference of about 2% between exotics vs legendaries. I’d make that 4% for the time it takes to get. The skin isn’t something to boast about. In a month or two if you hear someone say ‘’I got a legendary’‘, people will simply respond ’’welcome to the club’’. It’s not a status item if everyone has one. I plan to do mine because it’s something to do. I don’t think having this item will give me any status at all. Everyone and their grandma can have one if they have the time.
MMOs have shown what lengths people will go for pure vanity.
As if we didn’t need enough examples from real life with luxury brands.
No, the issue with Legendaries is that the grind required to get them is exceedingly boring.

Simple question, have you played in Origin Guild Wars?
You have no idea what people will do for getting stuff which has only unique skin and nothing more.
Your statement: “All this work for a skin=many players won’t do it and will move along” – is wrong. People will do it.
If you don’t believe me, take a look at GW1.
Yes, maybe not so many will do it for Legendary, but I don’t think it suppose to be for many.
That’s why Legendary have only unique skin. So if someone, who won’t be able to get this legendary, he or she, will not suffer.
If you don’t agree with it, than maybe this game isn’t for you? In this case I suggest you to play in something else. Or get use to what we have with this Legendary.
There is only one thing I can understand. Reducing requirement a bit. But if they won’t do it, I don’t think it’s a problem. They are only skins after all.
But if they will be better than exotic, even for a little bit, it will hurt, and hurt hard.
People will think: “Man! This Legendary better than my exotic! I have to get this Legendary! I have to!”
Because it will give us illusion of “Top Weapon”. And you will think, my exotic isn’t top.
You see my point?
If not, take a look around, there are many other games.
