Thinking of working towards the “Predator” and looking at the complex requirements I decided, for fun, to approximate what I need.
Where I could I priced stuff for gold , and karma/skillpoint is approximate as the clover recipe is chance based.
basic requirements :
100s of hours of gameplay
100% world completion
level 400 in huntsman crafting
level 400 in leatherworker crafting
500 knowledge crystals(dungeons)
500 badges of honour(WvW)
320 skillpoints
925000 karma
520 gold

Heh and you can buy a weapon on the tp for like 4g with the same stats as well.

It’s not about the stats, it’s about the prestige.

But if you buy that weapon, you won’t get the amazing skin. Legendaries are all about prestige. The ability to say “I’m the only guy on the server with this thing” is what you aim for when you go for a legendary. There is nothing wrong with the legendaries requiring hundreds of hours of work, because they are the ultimate status symbols. It’s not something everyone can get.

Still think they should have a tier higher in stats than exotics, though. Nothing huge, just a lot more than the 11 points of damage they have now. Casual players could still ignore it and gear grind fanatics would have a goal after 80.

In gw2 you’re not striving for the best weapon (those can be found anywhere) you’re striving for the best LOOKING weapon. Why? Who doesn’t wanna run around holding some magical artifact that glows and shoots out rainbows when you hit something?

Nobody gives a care about legendary weapons except for fanboys, because there are already exotic items which have same stats and sometimes better skin.

This Is baffling to me, I mean are you barred from completing any content as it is now. Have you ever died and said, if only I had 200 more weapon damage!

You just want higher stats so you can see your own numbers go up. It’s literally the mmo dopamine rush to make you feel happy.

Now Valk, it’s not that I don’t agree with you, but something tells me that you’re not a very happy person and shouldn’t be playing MMOs. Escapism is bad for that state of mind.

But yes, OP, it does seem that, if I wanted a legendary weapon, I’d have to spend more time getting it if I started right now than I’ve already spent in the entire game. And that’s taking into account the fact that I already have all the badges, world completion, skillpoints, and crafting requirements. Holy crap.

I’m happy, just bored because I wish crafting a legendary was a real deal since I have nothing left to achieve in the game but a legendary weapon.

Most of the players are done with their main character and since there is no nice endgame to encourage you for leveling an alternative character, nobody really wants to play anymore.

A real shame it looks like a sniper.
