Legendary stats after Ascended when xmuted?
I doubt it, since you are not using the legendary’s stats they won’t get bumped to ascended level.
Occam Pi (Ele), Acaena Elongata (Warrior), Finja Salversdotir (Ranger),
Bytestream (Engineer), Vim Whitespace (Thief)
That’d be a pretty big issue though, seeing as how Legendaries are really all about the look since they have the exact same stats as the exotic versions. They’d be punishing everyone who essentially used their Legendary “as intended” before they were aware of the announcement. The people who left it be get free upgrades for life (they did say legendaries would always match the best level of weapons available), and the people who changed the stats with another exotic to best suit their character get hosed.
Hopefully we get an official response one way or the other before the swap.
If it’s all about the look, then you shouldn’t care about ascended stats…….you (hypothetical you) obviously didn’t care about the Legendary stats when you transmuted them off the item so I don’t see why it should suddenly seem like it matters to you, right?

Legendaries often don’t have the stats your build uses though, and you don’t get a choice in the matter (wish you did). One major reason people transmuted them.
Rest assured that you’ll be able to get an ascended berserkers weapon and transmute it onto your legendary-skinned regular exotic.

Right now if you do that with an exotic weapon, well it works but your legendary weapon becomes exotic-colored. Not really nice.

After grinding up for the Ascended weapon and paying for a transmutation stone in the gem store. While the people who stuck with the default Legendary stats will get to skip all that.
If there is a next tier of stats, this happens again. In effect punishing you because you used an item from the gem store.

But that’s exactly the point. There ARE no legendary stats. As of right now, legendaries give the exact same stats as exotic weapons. It is strictly a skin.
I don’t care about “legendary stats” because legendary stats arent a thing. I do care about spending well over two months grinding my kitten off to get that really cool skin, and then getting screwed out of the “free upgrades for life” model for actually using that skin as the developers intended.
IMO the whole transmute system is really awkward to begin with. You’re not just putting a texture on another item, you’re literally changing the whole item, name, color, enhancement, ect. Every other game with this feature simply changes the texture of the item and puts a little “xmuted with XYZ” blurb in the tooltip to identify it as not the original texture. This method guarantees that any changes to the base item in the database will carry over to transmuted versions of the item out in the wild as well. With this system, my Meterologicus is no longer a Meteorologicus, but a “Berserker’s Pearl Sceptre of Bloodlust” with the Meterologicus model applied to it. It’s just a convoluted way of doing it, and it leads to situations exactly like this thread.
Now that I think about it, I don’t know why they would make legendaries the same as ascended state wise anyway.
I doubt many actually use the basic weapon. If you have your legendary then “grind” for your ascended weapon and transmute like everyone else.
It will not matter if it was a transmuted item. Legendary is Legendary. Transmuted or not it is still a Legendary Item.

Has this ever been verified? To my understanding the transmuted item is the rarity of the item that gives the stats, and the rarity of the skin is simply discarded from the equation. This is what I have experienced when transmuting an item “up” in quality, and this is what I have heard from what happens when people transmute an item “down” in quality (such as Legendary skin + Exotic stats = Exotic item).
Besides, if it kept the rarity of the skin that wouldn’t really make much sense, because then you could have rares with two (lower) stats, or exotics with stats comparable to greens (but still considered exotics). It wouldn’t make sense.
Unless you are simply using semantics where they don’t apply that is.

From what i’ve seen you’re correct. If you xmute your legendary with an exotic and take the stats from the exotic, your Legendary stops being legendary and turns into an exotic. Which means no stat boost when legendaries get bumped unless they do some seriously obnoxious update scripts on the item databases as opposed to changing a single value in a single cell.
