“When you apply an upgrade (rune or infusion) to a piece of legendary armor and there is already an upgrade in the slot you have selected, the existing upgrade will be moved to your inventory and the new upgrade will replace it. Simple as that.”

we need this mechanic for legendary weapons too.

If I have the legendary armor I can change it to any build just by putting the runes and swapping the stats, but I can not do the same with a legendary weapon that works with 2 builds I will have to have 2 of the same weapon for different builds only Because the weapon does not have the same mechanics as the armor to replace the upgrade without destroying it.

What do you guys think about it?

Absolutely. Many people already said the same, asking for this mechanic to be implemented for legendary weapons as well when the announcement was made. I really hope they will comply with our wish — we asked nicely, after all.

The second option seems to be the reason, but I hope for the first, the last one I do not think it would be because Anet makes many changes always looking at the quality of life and practicality so I think this mechanic has already crossed their minds

Fourth possibility: Anet knows that players want the feature for weapons but have decided, for whatever reason, tonot add it.

This is a bad suggestion. You pay thousands of gold for an effects and utility, how is that supposed to change now? It wasnt the case that the devs never wanted to have this added. It was the case that this need became bigger with the reveal of the armor. The armor also didnt need to have it it was due to player feedback that the came up with the rune swap system. Players that pay so much gold deserve at least that. How do ppl who buy exotics for 10 g deserve this convinience?

Giving sigil swap to all lvl 80 tiers would destroy the sigil market same with runes and armors. I meam a legendary weapon is usually 10 or even 20 times the price and effort of the asc doesnt it make sense that it saves you from the trouble of running multiple weapons? And in the end.. its just convinience its not like legendary gear make you better or stronger.

Choosing not to use something that one chose to pay for does not mean that one did not get what one paid for. It was advertised, it was purchased, and it was delivered in its advertised state. Choosing not to use it after the fact does not change the transaction.

Legendary already destroy the markets no more need to swap gear combos or do pve for new sets of combos. Why not make the sigil account bound after you swap them?

It will devalue legendary weapons if all the previous ranks should have this functionality. Why go for legendary weapons when you can have this feature with exotics and you can just have tones of diff exotics for various stats? Ppl play with getting the best gear in mind and it should feel rewarded when getting it compaired to getting an exotic. Now this whole legenary system is anti gw2 in the way that its grind that you were told you wouldnt have to do, but 5 years now in and since we went down the rabbithole keeping consistency between the existing way of things is the way to go.

By that reasoning, I take it you want anet to revert legendary weapons to exotic quality? After all, they were exotic with fixed stats from the beginning.

This is mathematically impossible. Legendary weapons had their value established without this functionality. If Legendary weapons (LW), supposedly, have a value greater than exotics (EW) then:

LW > EW

If you add sigil switching (SS) to both then the statement remains true:

LW+SW > EW+SS.

Legendaries were sold based on factors not including sigil switching and which factors would remain in place.

*Originally just the skin and rarity.
*then higher stats than exotics.
*and stat switching

None of those factors would be decreased. Everything that a Legendary player paid for would remain in place and would not be added to exotics.

I expect (opinion here) that the majority of legendary weapons were purchased or crafted after the change. Taking away what people have paid for is not something that I have suggested.

And i ask why not give that perk to the other legendary rarity items exclusively as they did with armor and instead all tier of lvl 80 armor should have that.

The product, legendary armor, was sold as having the features listed for legendary armor. Technically it has not been sold yet because the product has not been released and the final crafting cost not complete. Until this week what exactly the product was, as the cosmetics of legendaries were their original designed feature, were not even set..

They didnt have to make rune swapping happen,in the end it’s all about the skin.
Same goes for leg weapons. Most people who raid regularly already have almost every profession geared in asc armor with multiple sets. Although swapping runes is convenient, it wont have the major impact that people make it out to be.

true im saying that why not have that for legendary weapons its not gonna break everything a few sigils will drop yes but rightfully so since some prices are absurd. But im more about keeping it consistend on all legendaries

There are three possibilities:

  • ANet already plans to add this feature Tuesday (or shortly afterward). They didn’t mention it yet, as to avoid distracting from the main announcement that legendary armor arrives with the next patch.
  • It turns out the feature is more complicated (for some reason) for weapons and it’s not yet ready. Since ANet doesn’t announce features without a shipping date, they haven’t said anything.
  • It never occurred to ANet that players would want this functionality for weapons, despite all the posts about it for over four years.

Which do you think is more likely?

It’ll be number 3.

Strange, isn’t it, that predicting “that’ll be wrong” every time a statement is predicate on the idea that the anet developers are complete and utter kittens … turns out to have a hundred percent hit rate.

This is a bump (Sorry). But I’m still curious about this feature. I’ve crafted about 6 legendary weapons now, and swap em between characters… Been running different builds lately, and need new sigils to swap when ever i decide to change builds. Has Anet given any new details on this?
