Legit Expansion Question
No, it doesn’t come with an extra core game code.
If you already own the game, you are forced to buy another copy of the core game if you want the expansion.

If I buy this expansion, considering it comes with the core game, will I get a brand new game code? If so, does it connect my already existing account to the HoT or can I make an alt or give the code to a friend, to play the basic version of Gw2?
PS – Why do we have to spend 50 bucks for the core game and expansion? The original Gw2 has way more content than the expansion gives and I don’t really think it’s worth 50 dollars. Were pretty much paying 50 bucks for a couple maps and guild halls, am I right?
No. Basically the ‘free’ base game is worthless to current players. Only new players / accounts benefit from this.
It’s been terribly marketed, quite aside from being a bad deal.

To get new players to pony up the $50 for the expansion today, they will get the core game for free to play as they wait with the rest of us for the expansion to drop.

truth is we just dont know. We have no idea how much content there is in HoT. There is still so much they haven’t revealed yet. We dont know how many maps there are we still didnt hear about the challenging content they’re putting in. We dont know how many masteries we’re getting. We dont know if we’re getting any dungeons / fractals / raids (though some masteries specifically for fractals might imply we may be getting some new fractals)
what we do know we’re definitely getting in addition to some unknown number of maps and guild halls is a new WvW map, adventures, masteries, new pvp game mode, a new profession, a new weapon for every other profession and a new specialization for every profession including the new profession. Additionally while not exactly new we’re getting a complete rework of skills and abilities including how they’re unlocked.
Is it worth $50 for what was shown so far probably not but like I said there is more that they havent shown which might tip the scale. I am especially curious about the new challenging group content

Just cause people are calling it paying for the game again doesnt mean you’re paying for the game again.
I mean have you people never gone to the super market and came across an offer buy one get one free ? do they charge you twice for the one item? saying you’re being forced to buy an extra item to get the one item you’re after is wrong because you’re not, you’re still paying the same price you’d pay if you bought just 1 you’re just given one for free in order to incentivize you to buy and thats with a physical object that has a cost price. Giving a way a copy of the game free will cost Anet litterally nothing.
You’re not forced to buy another game. The expansion code simply gives access to the core game as well as the expansion. So if you already have access to the core game, it will provide you with access to the expansion, if you don’t have the core game it will provide access to BOTH.
Seriously the lack of comprehension is rampant today.
