Tank Girl: Booga, that was very smart.

Here I am, a throughly happy crafter-in progress of Astralaria, the most beautiful weapon in GW2 (just mho :-) ) Hithereto, have been enjoying every step of the crafting, which has now taken me to the final level (Cosmos). Almost that I feel blue for the day when its done … The new legendary crafting system added a heap of great and meaningful content to GW2 – by tieing together very old (GW1), old and new story bits and pieces of the Tyrian Universe, and combining it all into a unique context for each weapon to craft.
Tyria finally begins to shine, in its entire depth and complexity.
During the crafting process, people are finally able to experience the whole Guild Wars Universe – my deep kudos to the devs who hatched the idea and the designers / writers who put it into the game in such an intricate way. . . .
Here I am, a throughly happy crafter-in-progress of Astralaria … until this awkward moment quite late in the process, where I suddenly realized that I have to max out ALL my Maguuma Masteries and that I have to ace almost all adventures for that (at least on silver). During the past weeks, I have now been struggling with this task, without significant success. No, I never have been interested in these adventures. To me, its just f***ing immature time killing. Time I dont have … and time I would love to spend on something much more meaningful than senselessly jumping around in an instanced zone.
This adventure crap succeeded to destroy much of my legendary crafting enjoyment, up to the point where I am on my way to either temporarily ‘lend’ my account to one of my adventure-loving nieces or just quitting GW2 for good – even if I still think that its the most beautiful MMORPG on the market.

Just sit down and relax, most of them are easy to silver, some of them are easy to gold. And only takes about 10 minutes to get used to mechanics. And just leave the hard ones alone.
Don’t stress too much on masteries, I did, but now I have like extra 20 masteries from doing map achievements. Which at that point, you don’t need most of the adventure masteries.
Besides, it takes alot of HoT XP just to max out masteries. You’ll pickup those achievement masteries along the way.

They’re supposed to be making the HoT areas easier with the April update. Maybe that will include the adventures and making the harder ones easier.

Yeah, I’d hold fire OP. At least till the April patch. See what changes that brings.
minigames : yuk.

… it not that they are ‘hard’ in the first place (they are, somehow), its their total deprivation of sense / meaning I detest … I would even rather do JP’s than these ‘adventures’.
Masterys? why would you need them now? we’re only getting 4 of the 16 legendry weapons, that seemed to be the only point it maxing masterys. guess you got lucky and they made one you wanted.
Unless I missed something, the actual Astralaria crafting process requires:
Astralaria I: The Device
1.) Timeworn Forgotten Tablet – Attained from the Fallen Masks adventure in the Forgotten City of Auric Basin by reaching a rank of silver or better.
Astralaria III: The Mechanism
2.) Pact Airship Strut.png Pact Airship Strut – Gained by completing the Flying Circus adventure in Verdant Brink with a rank of silver or better.
Astralaria IV: The Cosmos
3.) Ley-Line Hub Energy.png Ley-Line Hub Energy – Energy gathered from earning a rank of silver or better in the Ley-Line Run adventure in Tangled Depths.
4.) Exalted Energy.png Exalted Energy - Energy gathered by earning silver or better in the On Wings of Gold adventure located inside Auric Basin.
A total of 4 adventures. 3 of which are among the easiest adventures in the game. A total required masteries of:
- Legendary Crafting 4
- Gliding rank 3 (for On Wings of Gold)
- Exalted Lore 2 (for Fallen Masks)
and optional masteries in form of:
- Itzel Lore 3 (for Blazing Musshrooms)
Yes, that is certainly a very unrealistic requirement for a legendary. It’s not as though most of those masteries are earned within the first few hours of playing HoT. Not even going to comment on the adventures.
Do people even still play this game or just buy everything off the TP expecting everything to fall in their lap?

Not true. For crafting the final Legendary, you have to max out all Maguuma Mastery Lines to be able to purchase Gift of the Itzl, Gift of the Nuhoch, Gift of the Exalted and Gift of Gliding to craft “Gift of Insights”. Which means you need almost all Maguuma Mastery Points (112 out of 139). Which means you have to do almost all adventures at least at Silver. Silver and Gold gives you a Mastery Point respectively. Bronze doesnt give you any Mastery Points.

Ah yes, I did miss that. Okay, that is a bigger requirement. I still don’t think it is unreasonable. At best one can fault the new legendarys to be very HoT heavy.
My point still stands. People complain about no content, then once content is required people complain about having to actually play the game.
My guess is arenanet might ease up on the mastery requirements to purchase the gifts. Makes the 3 new legendary that less epic, but hey. Legendarys for everyone.
I love that this game has all sorts of distractions to cater to different playstyles, but I have to agree I really have no interest in the “adventures” and have thus far put off doing any of them. If I ever do them at all it’ll only be to complete some other objective – and only if I really want it badly, because I can’t stand these mini games!
Addendum: Its not about how long time it takes to craft a legendary weapon. Can take a whole year or two, doesnt matter. :-) But for me, it should make sense. These adventures doesnt make sense and I dont like that they are instanced. I would rather earn my mastery points in the open world, where I can interact with other players and do some good for the community – instead of fooling around in a dumb instance …
Also, I usually dont do PvP, Dungeons, Fractals or Raids. Would do it for Astralaria, though, if there is a good reason for it. ^^ But adventures … thanks, but no thanks.

Bolded part is an exaggeration. If you get HoT MP’s from all other sources, you only need to get 5 MP from adventures.

Wow, that totally sucks! I’m not a fan of those mini-games, either. I can only get copper or whatever it is on all but a tiny handful of them. I’m just not good at them no matter how many times I repeat them, so any content that requires me to get silver or gold on a significant number, I am completely locked out of. That’s just facts.
I recently maxed all my masteries, under the impetus of crafting HOPE. Here are the adventures I do not yet have mastery in:
Gold: Tendril Torchers, Flying Circus, Bugs in the Branches, Shooting Gallery, Sanctum Scramble, A Fungus Among Us, Fallen Masks, The Floor is Lava?, The Ley-Line Run, Scrap Rifle Field Test, Beetle Feast.
Silver: Shooting Gallery, Sanctum Scramble, The Floor is Lava?, Scrap Rifle Field Test.
So that’s 15 mastery points from adventures I did not get and still got to max. I also have not completed the achieves in Acts 1 and 3, there’s two more. (Looking at it, I wasn’t trying to avoid the poison in the grenades on tendrils part in Prisoners of the Dragon. I’ll go for that next run through. But Act 3 kills me with the Faolain beast, I don’t know that I’ll ever get all the Glint bits — might be able to take no hits in the escape, we’ll see).
Still haven’t done Chak Crusher or Jungle Totem Hunter, those seem well in the realm of doable.
Anyway, while you’ll need to do some adventures, you don’t have to do all the adventures to get your masteries for your axe. Please don’t despair!
