Less ecto's from Rares?
RNG is RNG. I’ve not noticed anything different.
how many times have we seen this kind of post…
salvage 500 rares, and if you get noticably lower results, then let us know. 30 rares is not a large enough sample size to indicate anything. i just salvaged 10 rares an hour ago and got nearly 20 ectos. does that mean that the ecto rate is higher? nope, just means i got lucky
If you think it’s low, don’t rely on your memory, because most people remember the bad RNG rolls and forget the good. Keep a record of it and if after 500 ectos it’s still bad, then come and say something and post your results.
40 ectos from 30 rares this morning… RNG is RNG.
how many times have we seen this kind of post…
One billion times. I wished the forum search worked just so we could keep a list with all topics made when someone who doesn’t get what RNG means makes a topic accusing ArenaNet of having nerfed the ecto rate.
…sorta smell a stealth nerf in the background cause i do notice it too…or i just got horrible (compared to my usual) rng luck since a week or two…
I kind of felt this way too. Don’t know if there was a stealth nerf, but I wouldn’t be shocked given the amount of rares we get from Silverwastes. Yes, it’s probably RNG. But I’ve also stopped salvaging rares and started to just sell them on the Trading Post.
Just made more sense.
A few days ago, I must have melted 4-5 in a day and gotten 2-3 on each. I was thinking they must have increased it. Today and yesterday, it felt more normal with some ‘none’ rolls and 1s. As you’d expect with RNG. Very streaky.
Funny, I feel like I’m getting more than usual, too.
It’s RNG, like some people have gotten half a dozen precursors by now and I have looted and forged exactly zero. Nooo, I’m not bitter, just mentioning a fact^^

A game-wide downturn in ecto salvaging results would no doubt be reflected in an increase in ecto prices due to less supply. Ecto ask prices have been trending down rather than up, arguing that supply is increasing. Also, sell prices ahve been dropping, and the gap between ask/sell is smaller than usual. Sure, SW farming can generate lots of rares. Also, demand may be down. Absent a large enough sample size to generate a more accurate prediction, I’d say that there is no proof of a drop rate reduction.
