The number 1 problem that kill GW1 according to Anet is that GW1 spread the players base too thin with its many expansions. This is the reason that is given to why the producers are so reluctant in adding new maps and expansion.

However, with its 24 servers in NA and over 20 world bosses events plus WvW and sPvP. One could argued that Anet is already spreading its players far too thin.

Most players tend to aggregate to the most populated servers. This makes the top 3 servers in WvW very popular and result in Overflow and long waits. Where as, the bottom in WvW servers feel like ghost towns I often find myself guesting on BG and TC just to do events because there is no one around on my server and everything is permanently contested.

I have no idea what the active player base is but my guess is around 500k regular plus 400k who play sparingly. My hunch is that there are far too many servers for far too few players.

This is a problem that only Anet can fixed. The simply solution is a servers merged or look at how ECO is designing its servers where there is no designated servers and players are assigned to where their friends are.

Server merge for longer queue time? Sounds good…

I think Anet is doing a pretty decent job of directing traffic. Some of the world will be emptier, but most people are doing event stuff in PvE. I don’t have any problems finding people to do things with.

And since guesting is free, it’s an easy solution to not having people on your server.

What I wished they could have done, was have people chose a server name for WvW but otherwise just have one big server for PvE. That they have an overflow system where new maps are created as they get filled up. That way the PvE maps would have all the players from the servers in them and would be a lot busier that way.

Errrrrr…. FYI, GW1 only had 1 expansion (EOTN) I don’t know why people can never get this right. Proph, Factions, and Nightfall are all stand alone games. And I agree if you’re PVE simply guest, it’s free and the prob is solved. I guest frequently and my server is 1 of the “very high” but all they want to do is champ zerg, though that has it’s rewards there is more to the game than that. GAME ON

Noble Dragons (NOBL) rocking GW’s since 2005 now rocking the Sorrow’s Furnace Server!

They were both standalones and expansions.

Actions, not words.

It’s probably a tech-related problem that lead to this

The only problem with ESO is that I have a lot of concerns over how their servers will fare in WvW/RvR. I’m not a tech-savvy man so I’m not sure if GW2 has serious server problems or something but I can’t imagine the lag if you got every server WvWing in one map…
