I don’t want them to mess up anything else in the game.It isn’t fun waiting around to fight a dragon I have been killing for a year now,only to be put in to a overflow server that can’t even get him to 90%.
Add expanded commander functionality, so that all people in the commanders squad can see each other, like a party can. This would help immensely on the battery phase.
Have needed that all year for a number of reasons.

Yep, once the novelty wears off, it’ll become like the revamped fire ele in the off hours, no one will bother and yet another boss off my list. I don’t want to be left with just mindless champ zerging to do, which I don’t do unless waiting for SB for a little bit.
I mean why did they add the champ boxes to bosses anyway? For those that already do the bosses or to lure in the champ zerg farmers? We’re not all there just to farm. Farmers will eventually leave for a better farming spot. Then we will be left with content out of group size range, as it has already become like with FE.

No.. needing to use a third party program and 100+ people required to “clear” content is not something this game needs more of.
What are we supposed to do when people get bored of it?
The mechanics of the tequatl fight are great but the amount of organization required is insane.

You couldn’t afk teq before the change. Thats all rumor generated by peeps that use that website to time the last 30secs of teq and zerg in for full loot then complain how easy it all was :P
I like it but I hate the whole overflow thing and not being able to get into the server the people you’re organizing with are. :/

I know Arena Net’s heart is in the right place – making difficult content. But so much of that is artificial difficulty: lag, dying because of lag, overflows, most specs/gear are useless, afkers, trolls, spawn timer, guesting (either commanders guesting off, or people guesting in looking for a kill)
All of these are a huge barrier to fun. This fight would have so much more potential/longevity if it were instanced and tuned for a full squad. But I know the community will have none of that because they’ve either killed him already, or say “This isn’t WoW”.
I probably will not do this fight again once I get all of the achievements here. The amount of time that I’ve spent attempting him does not warrant an ascended weapon or mini pet.
No thanks i want content i can pass, not content i have to hope 100 people will do many times.
And when they get bored of the poor rewards, content that sits there useless.

Also, gl making skill-based content when most of the people are doing 5 fps and can’t even see their own character.

And from what I’ve been told the rewards aren’t worth the effort. Farming champs in Frostgorge is still more rewarding.

The rest of the boss fights can stay as they are, not everything needs to be ultra-difficult.

How is support useless? Keeping people alive, condition-free, and buffed with might and stability is kinda important in a fight like this.
Because if the majority of the players aren’t full DPS builds you aren’t going to get his HP down before the timer runs out. As we found out on my server a dozen times or more before we beat him. A handful are useful, a lot will lose you the fight, and you have no control over who you get dropped in with.

Obviously, this is not what I meant and you are just trying to be clever. I would try to explain it to you but I feel I would be wasting my time.
I am sick to death of being put in overflow for Teq, Jormag & Shatterer. I haven’t been able to get into Jormag since Teq began. I am in the Blackgate homeworld & can’t even play without being put in overflow. This MUST change immediately. I have been playing only GW1 & GW2 since they came online, but that is about to change if this overflow crap continues. If players from other homeworlds want to guest on another world, they must not be able to force that homeworld’s players into overflow. I have been loyal to Anet, but they are not being loyal to me.

Well they will tell you this,nobody plays the game anymore i don’t see anyone on maps or open world anymore. Normally people are doing instance so you wouldn’t find any people on maps.So arena net doesn’t give a bird of making instanced raids.
The event was terrible on low population servers when 40 people show up. So if they can scale it for 40+ players, yes. If they can’t, then no.

I’m in favor of ANet catering the difficulty of boss battles to different demographics. I’m not in favor of them tuning every bit of group content in the game to one demographic. That hasn’t happened, yet, but the trend is clear.
I’m also not in favor of more massive group affairs with technical issues, such as:
- Lag
- Overflow issues
- Failure points that are conducive to griefing
- AoE circles that cannot be seen
- Massive particle blur
- Build choices rendered useless by game mechanic design
Fix your foundations, ANet —- before you build more events that show the current foundation’s flaws.
I’m not a fan of difficult content.
Sometimes you want to get home from work, crack open a beer, and just auto attack to victory...

I do not think ArenaNet should revamp other things to this level. Maybe half this level or 3/4 this level.
Too much of this level will split the playerbase.
I can say that after the progressive negative changes to WvW seeing a change in action that I actually enjoyed was a very welcome feeling.
Banding together with my server to overcome this battle was probably the best experience Guild Wars 2 has given me – especially in PvE since up to this point it has all been of bad to mediocre quality.
That said, I would not expect them to bump up other bosses to this level. I believe there should be variety to the bosses and their difficulty. Turning every boss into an elite raid is not something I would approve of. In my opinion, low level bosses should remain relatively easy, with the difficulty increasing depending on the area level and the type of boss. I would say that dragon bosses should be the most difficult – Claw of Jormag should eventually have the privilege of being the toughest or at least even in difficulty with Teq.
These bosses should offer unique cosmetic rewards and titles, but players in servers incapable of finishing fights should not feel they are losing out on lots of money and BiS gear. I think they should be designed to be badges of honor for a server – a matter of pride, not of money.
Not that Teq was without flaws… as it exposed the weaknesses of overflows and the current system rather clearly. The game should not encourage animosity over spots on a map.
I’m fine with the Dragons being of enormous difficulty. However, I wonder if it would be better if they were an occasional event that happened every few months or so rather than a constant presence. I’m worried about what happens once the novelty wears off. Are the rewards really good enough to bring people back in a couple months?
As it is my server hasn’t defeated him yet as far as I know. And the several times I’ve tried haven’t been… great experiences. Invisible enemies, lag and sudden death for no apparent reason. I’m sure it has been fun for some but not particularly fruitful for me, I think I may have already lost interest. If me defeating the dragon depends on the Henge of Denravi server to get its act together, the one time it does kill the dragon I’ll probably be stuck in overflow. I don’t know, I don’t really see the point. I would rather play the game then camp out at the dragon all day hoping the next time people on the server will get organized enough to take it down.
I honestly don’t know how to appease the people who want super hard content that requires the coordination of a hundred people to complete with the needs of people who feel like they’ve been left on the outside because they’re not a part of one of the T1 servers. I would hope they figure that out before they change the other two dragons.
Just my opinion:
We do need more personal difficulty (combat should occasionally feel challenging).
We do need more design to encourage teamwork (multiple objectives for players to attack/guard/use in unison, to succeed).
We DO NOT need more encounters balanced to require optimum map/server participation.
Yes we need more bosses like Teq. I would increase his spawn rate though just to let people try him more often. This will also help move the players along, to reduce the overflow problem.

I absolutely do agree that there should be difficult content in this game, I just strongly disagree that existing content should be changed to this difficult content. I could only agree to existing content being changed to difficult content if ALL content in the game is changed in that way, not just parts of it. So it shouldn’t be just the parts of the game that I regularly play be changed, but the content that you play should be changed too.
I mean, I already play difficult content, I spend a lot of my time with temples. World bosses I do as it takes less people to do that content when temples we usually need a lot of people to do them. You guys, many/most don’t do temples, you run off to do dungeons or something when you want content for less people, but I prefer open-world stuff. So instead of a few groups running a dungeon (in their own instances), we have a few groups running a world boss, it’s our existing game play. So either do it to everything, or do it to nothing …other than to new content.
This game is crying out for an expansion, not this temporary content. We need level 80 content but on a new tier of content or difficulty (not speaking of gear). The direction of this is fine, but not by removing the existing game play for some and not others.

this is the way anet rolls, money sink and time sink. What have they added in the last patch? Nothing but this time sink (not to mention the joke loot when you beat teq). So they’re giving you this unrewarding time sink that has no impact on the economy because his chest contains trash a level 1-15 zone can drop until another time sink comes out and that’s another ‘revamp’ of a dragon or ascended armors that are a time sink AND money sink. These guys so fun!

But we already have temples that often remain contested. You run temples often?? It can be challenging content. Do most people in this game run temples consistently? Oh heck no! This is content mostly forgotten by the majority of gw2 players. But people do run world bosses consistently, and for those that don’t it’s just a novelty to do a little before returning to their regular stuff.
They are not just changing the dragons, they already made some low level bosses harder, did you even know that? And now those bosses sometimes are as useless as a door stop, or we manage to get the pre done and just stand around waiting for a farming zerg to come by so we can actually play this game.
You know? Some of us actually do the pre events, then do the bosses, then sometimes even do post event stuff like with FE restoring the power grid. We don’t just zerg in at the last 10% of the boss, whack it a few times, collect the reward then stand around complaining how easy it was until we WP to the next 10% boss. I’d say a good 85% of people that do bosses do it that way.
They need to make the pre events count into the final loot of the boss, and not for everyone but at the individual reward level. Just like in some dungeons, you need to actually participate to get the rewards, this should apply to open-world boss events. And not just how hard you whack-a-mole, but by pre participation as the recognition system for such events are is already a part of the system, just not added up yet. Then it won’t be so easy any longer, will it? Then complainers can find something else to complain about, and as they do it skipping most of the existing content as they already do.
