The Black Lion Chest is getting a spooky upgrade for Halloween. Between October 23 and November 5 each Black Lion Chest you open has a chance to give you one of six exclusive Halloween-themed weapon skins!

I hope they made a scythe weapon skin

More curious to how the six will apply to the weapons or which weapon skin is useable on such and such weapon.

I have theories on the weapon skins that will be there. It’s only clear that well used cross-class weapons will match it. So, I’m thinking Focus (a lantern or jack-o-lantern type). A staff (don’t know how, but it’ll be there). A sword (I think that’s the chainsaw thing in the post linked above). A dagger (bone dagger?). A shield (with the face of the Mad King?). A torch (a candle?).

But, I have concerns, which follow below…
Questions related to it:

1) I’ve got 55 chests in my bank right now, will they still have that chance, or only new chests gained?

2) What’s the odds of getting a key or two out of the event(s) through participation?

3) Was the 50/50 odds of getting a new key of a chest opened by an old key dropped significantly? I’ve opened 12 chests in the past week, not a single one had a new key.

Considering we have all saved 30 dollars in monthly fees just since release I wouldn’t mind paying for vanity items! Also as it has been said there are many other ways to get the keys (looting and gold/gem exchange)

Yeah I wouldn’t mind paying for vanity items either. What I would mind though is buying lottery tickets for vanity items. What would be awesome if Anet released the weapons directly on the gemstore for maybe just 1 day (last day?). Now that would be some serious money spending.

On Topic: We’ve seen the Chainsaw which is probably a greatsword skin or something similar. I was thinking a broomstick for a staff, some nifty weapons like possibly a crossbow skin for shortbow? As they are going for the chainsaw I would think they might go for a machete or hatchet skin for a dagger or sword. possibly some really nasty looking scissors? Lots of stuff they could do… I like the idea of a Jack-o-lantern for a focus.

Now will it apply to all chests currently in existence or will it only apply to chests dropped during the event?

Im pretty sure it applies to all an any chest, opened up between oct 22 until nov 5 as it states in the write up.

And if you read the write up further, you do not get a weapon with stats- it is a “skin”. No harm, no foul. As long as its pay to “skin” and not pay to win, everything is fine.

I’m very excited to see the weapon skins. We’ve seen the Chainsaw, and I think we will get a broom staff. Looking forward to seeing them.

Back again on topic, I wouldn’t mind seeing a couple different options for the weapons…
Staff – A Crook or something similar OR a Witch’s broom
Sword – A Stake or a chainsaw
Greatsword – Scythe or Scarecrow
Mace – Skull on a stick or a Candy apple
Dagger – Boney finger or Sacrificial dagger

Just to name a few ideas…

You know what else is a weapon skin? Legendaries…

And legendaries are awesome skins =D!

But i want to see this halloween skins soon =D!

I hope that the skins are gotten from a single item, that can change any weapon…

Ie:
There is a single Halloween Weapon Skin token that can be applied to any weapon type rather than a Halloween Warhorn token, a Halloween Great Sword token, a Halloween Staff token, etc…

I would think that the % chance is probably fairly high and if they’re smart they make the skins tradeable as well.

We’ll see….first I need to know what the skins look like, because I don’t personally care for things like chainsaws in a fantasy setting, but if there are cool skins and if they were rare or untradeable, I would feel rather a bit cheated as well.

Not to say that your particular taste is wrong or anything, but the the gear and steam blade 1/2h sword skins are already basically chainsaws.

I’ve seen the same complaint with regard to the aviator glasses.

These races have invented guns, mortars, tanks, inter-dimensional teleportation, force-fields, lasers, airships, and bio-engineering. …Is it really that far out there for them to have come up with something to expedite the whole cutting down tree thing, or to protect their eyes from dangerous UV rays?

That said..I think the Priory should get wide rim glasses, the Whispers should get aviators and the Vigil should get sport sun-glasses as faction specific town clothing you can buy from their bases ^.^

Oh it’s just personal. I don’t care for those items you mentioned either, so I wouldn’t use those skins either.

I can’t and won’t stop other people from getting that stuff, nor complain about it to Anet, but I will simply state I don’t really care for that stuff.
