“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”
Greetings everyone. I want to discuss about a topic that defenitly everyone of us has bothered.
Image the following situation: You wear 2x 1h weapon and 1x 2h weapon. You got plenty of weapons in your inventory, normally in an invisible bag. Now you get to a content where you have to switch your weapons, well, now I use 2x 1h weapons and 2x 1h weapons.
What just happened? Right! There is now an empty slot in the inventory invisible bag. But what does it mean? I kill a few mobs with that setup and now I look another weapon. Oh content changes again? Lets swap again to 2x 1h and 1x 2h… Where did my offhand weapon go!? Somewhere in another bag of course!
I think it’s terribly annoying that you can’t change your weapons easily. I sometimes use 2 weapons, sometimes I use even 4! The empty inventory slots getting filled with junk and annoy me if I want to change my weapons agin!
Solution 1:
Let us lock a weapon to an inventory slot. This slot gets blocked as long as the weapon is in our possesion (equiped / inventory). This prevents that new junk will fill up the slots.
Solution 2:
Simly let the invisible bag just fill up with soulbound stuff. This way the loot will fill up in other bags first. If everything else is full, they take that space too ofc. This will also prevent junk to fill up the spaces.
Has anyone else too those problems? I suffer with my Mesmer, my Thief, even my Engi … What do you think???
There is a solution its called equipment box. It still requires little management but its far less painful than searching your inventory for item. And if you have to find it quick there is a search function for inventory.
I mostly switch weapons with the inventory, so if I switch out 2 1h weapons for a 2h weapon, I can see where the off hand weapon goes and just put it back in the invis box.

Equipment box? You mean that box that gets filled with equipment too? O.o Or what did I miss? I can’t see a solution in there :s

And that’s the annoying part.
Wait for it, its coming exclusivily at gem store, the bag that now unnequiped weapons go directly there!
You could always right click your equipment slot and find the exotics and equip from there.

Wouldn’t be exclusive if you can buy just that right off the BLTC.
Since all i wear and weild are exotics, I use a 20 slot exotic box from FOTM as my last bag. Everything I take off / change (armor / weapons) automatically goes there and since I so rarely find exotic items…it usually remains empty of new stuff until I run out of space in all my other 20 slot bags.
First world problem: Just got ascended stuff O.o’’
There is an extremely simple solution to the problem, but this will not get implemented because GW2 just wants to be as different as possible from GW1.
In GW1, even if you had a Longbow equipped, you could also have a Shield equipped, but your Shield would have a ‘no’ symbol on it, meaning it does not give stats or meet skill requirements while a Longbow is equipped.
Even if you swapped weaponsets(GW1 had 4 weapon sets!!) to your Scythe, your offhand weapon would not leave your equipped slot as long as you had saved that weaponset as Scythe/Shield as well.
In GW2, due to the extreme need of being as different as possible from its predecessor, you can only have your Greatsword equipped. You cannot have a Shield with a ‘no’ sign on it while having a Greatsword equipped at the same time. So if you have Sword/Shield and equip Greatsword, the Sword swaps with your Greatsword but the Shield just flies to the next open slot in your inventory(go look for it, good luck finding it).
The solution is simple, make offhands equippable with 2-handed, but do not give skills or stats. However, this solution is impossibly difficult to make into a feature in GW2.
The next best thing you might want to try is to have a 2-handed in one weaponset while having 1-handed/off handed in the other weaponset, and only swap like weapons when equipping(Greatsword for Hammer, Sword/Shield for Axe/Warhorn).

I have exactly the same problems as the OP. I do not want my good weapons mixed in with all the junk. None of the available boxes solve anything as there is junk of all types to contaminate any bag you might want to keep as your permanent store. My preferred store bag would be invisible bag.
My solution would be for the offhand weapon to be put into the bag that the 2-handed weapon came from. If that bag is full it goes into the inventory as normal. Simple.
