Let's make Legendaries account bound?
That’s how it should have been right from the beginning. Unfortunately it’s too late now.
^ I guess they did that to allow people to turn their gifts of battle/exploration/clovers/whatever into a profit but I think given so few people actually makes Legendaries for a living and how it wrecks their image and feel of prestige. Taking that method of money-making away is a worthwhile price to pay I think.
I’ve actually never understood why people sell Legendaries anyways. Every time I do the maths and check against prices, after tax you either make a loss or so little profit relatively that I don’t think it’s worth it given the risk of your item not even selling.
You should probably read the news.

In the upcoming April feature build, we will be converting all legendary and ascended equipment to be account-based. This means ascended equipment will always remain account-bound and will not soulbind to a character when equipped. Legendary weapons will continue to be tradeable until equipped, at which point they will become account-bound (rather than soulbound). As part of this change, we will convert all the existing ascended and legendary equipment that is soulbound to be account-bound instead.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.

OP was talking about making them account bound on creation, not on equip.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.

They’re talking about making Legendary items account bound on creation. As in, not sell-able.
I think it would have been better to make legendary weapons account bound on creation, I feel like it would have legitimized them more. The only way to have one (or more) would be to actually do the work yourself. I feel like its too late to make a change though.
Right, that’ll teach me to make assumptions from the title.
To my credit the title was misleading, and a previously brought up topic, could of been more specific in the title :p

don’t worry I do the same, especially when the topics on the forums are always the same predictable discussions
The only reason they won’t make them account bound on creation (contrary to Ascended items) is that some rich guys who are willing to pay thousands of gems for gold will buy them. It’s that simple.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
It should be that way, but it won’t because this is a F2P game.
at $700+ per legendary it is one of their key money makers. I personally know 6 people in my guild who have bought legendary weapons with a credit card.
If you want a game where you have to earn status symbols through skill and hard work then you’ll want a P2P game.
I do not want my method of money making taken away!
I would’ve absolutely loved to have seen this from the beginning. Legendaries are imo way too common now, and fairly easy to get with grinding/real money. Who needs badges, karma, world completion?
Making them sellable was a mistake to begin with.

I made the same assumption, so you’re good.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Maybe I should have put untradable instead but my post did elaborate on what I meant.
As a proud seller of The Moot I can assure you there is a nice profit for selling your legendary. Clovers, with some luck you get 1/6th of the tier6 materials needed for fortune. Upgrade cores—>lodestones saves about 30-50%. Upgrade t5—>t6 can yield 20-25% discount on fortune gift for the cost of skill points. Bid for your precursor can save you 100g.
All in all I crafted The moot for 1080g and sold it at 1980g. (1980*0.85)-1080 = 603g profit…. well profit its basicly selling 1mil karma, 50% map completion, 500 badge of honor, 500 dungeon tokens and roughly 440 skill points.
As for legendarys being so common…. well duh! the game is out for over 1.5 years. LEGENDARYS ARE NOT PRESTIGE ITEMS, NEVER WERE, NEVER WILL BE.

Poor misguided soul. The very reason Anet made legendaries the grind they are right now to begin with, is so that people won’t just go along making them and selling them off for their own prices. I remember a discussion or an except of text in particular about Anet’s intention being that legendaries were supposed to be something of pride and honour, to show that you went to all the trouble to make one.
Then they went and shot themselves in the foot (bad habit of their’s) and made legendaries and precursors tradable.
I suggest you do some homework before shouting ludicrous and uninformed remarks. And you should be ashamed of yourself for exploiting Anet’s poorly-made decisions.
“Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats…
Not luck and credit cards.”
