So, I have been thinking a lot about my game experience in GW2. How it started out from the Beta Weekends, the launch and what has happened over the past 6 months.
- I have been reading on the forum that many feels like there hasn’t happened anything at all. Well, step back and try to take a look at it, shall we?

- I don’t think it strikes anyone as a surprise, if I say that the Personal Storyline was my most disappointing game experience yet. They made a big deal out of this in the trailers and such. “No two players will have the same experience.” – I remember that being said and I thought to myself that the depth of the game had to be incredible and awe-inspiring.
- Since it is one of the core-features they talked about and were proud of, I had expected more, and some of you asked for them to improve this. It is, in fact, still being whined about and people: Enough! It failed! I think they know that by now, stop whining about it and enjoy the other aspects of the game while the PS is brought up to date.
- To redo it would take time, and lots of it. I assume that is why they have chosen to focus on some of the more “casual gamer” content such as the achievement system, the fractals and such. These things are a much bigger part of our gaming experience right now and are therefore being handled first.
They could have re-done the PS, but we might already have left the game before that was fixed. You see what I’m getting at?

Anyhow, as to what is ahead:
- ANet has a whole team working on the “Living World”, which are these one time events (OTE’s) that we will get to experience. Right now, I think the best bet is to focus on these, since they might wait to improve the PS for later expansions. It would require a lot to re-do it from scratch.
- With these OTE’s new zones will open up, and my guess is that with Flame and Frost, we might experience Primordus and Jormag making some trouble. Zones like Far Shiverpeaks, Deldrimor Front, the Woodland Cascades and the Blood-legion homelands are those most probable of opening up to us soon (the Deldrimor Front being that least probable, might come with Kralkatorrik though).

In conclusion:
- I have been enjoying the game more in these past few weeks, and while there is much to improve on, I think that ANet is going to improve GW2. I think that in about half a year, maybe a year or two, the game will have a lot of content for many different kind of players. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of Tyria’s map opening up (the Crystal desert and Ring of Fire islands especially) and the two other maps, Cantha and Elona, as well.

I believe that we have a lot to look forward to, when it comes to the future of Guild Wars 2.
- I’ll see you guys in game.

I personally look forward to all the upcoming pvp changes. If they can make the pvp in gw2 as awesome as it was in gw1 then this game will keep me busy for a very long time. It is already decent but definitely needs an arena/deathmatch game type. I know they are stoked about getting everyone to play their king of the hill type but I know that doesn’t appeal to every pvp player as much as a simple team deathmatch would. Not sure why they are so stuck on only one type. Hopefully that will change and we can see a good guild vs guild return with some leader boards and good matchmaking.

Same here! If you support Cantha and Elona coming back, you might want to chime in at this thread that the devs are following. We would also really appreciate your support on the petition linked in my signature!

I’m totally optimistic about the direction of the game, aside from that discouraging news about Cantha. GW1 only got better with each update and expansion, and I expect the same of GW2. I’m glad the devs released the “skeleton,” so to say, of the game and are improving it in a live environment with player feedback, rather than sitting on it for months longer and releasing what they considered “perfect” without the benefit of the give and take between community and developers. I enjoy the game as it is (for a skeleton, it’s kitten amazing!) and agree with their approach to making it better. It’s like an ongoing work of art that we get to watch them build…and even help them sculpt.

A Dev has spoken:Cantha is definitely not cut from the game
Show your support for Cantha’s return in GW2! Please join us in the Cantha Thread.
Many thanks to Wooden Potatoes for his outstanding lore video, a real tribute to Cantha.

This. I would absolutely love it if they finally put in a deathmatch type game.

Even capture the flag would be welcomed.

And GvG would be a godsend.

I’d definitely start playing again, as much as I did before if anything to improve PvP comes out.

WvW could use some revamps too. Some variety in the maps for each borderland would be pretty cool. Have it shuffle them or something.

The personal story had its nice moments, but overall it seemed so disconnected from the world somehow. Probably because once you got out of the instance, the world would appear as if nothing ever happened.

Prince Rurik and Lady Althea. Anyone else see the incompatibilty here?

First of all they need to complete the story in Tyria. There’s no point in rushing Cantha and Elona in here already. Mainly because they need to have the gameplay elements “fixed” in which I mean that when they have figured out the best structure of different content, designing the new continents will be easier for them.
- But yeah, I’m looking forward to Cantha and Elona, but first we need the Woodland Cascades, Deldrimor Front, Crytal Desert, Bloodlegion Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks, Ring of Fire Island, Magus Falls and the rest of the Maguuma Jungle. There is no continent or zone I prefer, since there are many memories from the Original GW in them for me. I’m just looking forward to enjoying them as they come.

- But don’t rush them on the content, or it will come out flawed.
