Just saw a level 15 Engineer while I was still doing the prologue mission. He even has turrets. How is that even possible?

Since the game scales up your experience gain slightly, it makes sense that someone could reach level 15 in the tutorial just by repeating events.

But you don’t get any exp from any event during the prologue. The only way you can get any exp during the prologue is to defeat enemies.

It’s a bot. While trying out different gender/appearance/class options as a Sylvari, I created several toons over the course of several days. Each time I saw an Engineer and turrets standing near where new toons spawn in the opening instance. The first time I saw him he was level 8, the second time 15, the third time 28. He never moved, just stood there while his turrets autoattacked every enemy that spawned nearby. I reported him each time and on my fourth Sylvari he was gone.

You get like 3 xp per kill, it would take an awful long time to get to level 30 or whatever he was when they removed him, probably someone just wanted to start the game at level 80 because he thought he could breeze through the content.

Which is true to some extent, but he wouldn’t have max-level equipment (unless he had another toon to supply stuff) and his stats would be downleveled to match the area he’s in. Might be able to head straight to Orr for farming if that’s what was intended.

This one might even be the same player.

I thought they patched it so that you didn’t get XP in the prologue?

Or maybe it was just so that you could no longer get items…

Anyway, the prologue SEEMS like it’d be good to camp, since there are endless enemies that are really, really weak.

But it’s REALLY, REALLY slow. The Charr prologue got bugged for me the first time that I made one, so the Ascalon ghosts outside of the cave there spawned endlessly. I stayed there for about two hours just for the hell of it, killing ghost after ghost after ghost. I just barely made it to level 2 before I got sick of it.

I did get about 78 piles of glittering dust, 7 unknown dyes, and a bunch of random low level weapons out of the deal, though.

The Long Road
Goal: To have one character of every race, gender, and armor class combination at level 80.
Current progress: Human 4/6 | Charr 1/6 | Norn 1/6 | Sylvari 1/6 | Asura 1/6 | Total: 8/30

You get xp but not loot, except in rare cases where it seems the loot suppression is bugged but it’s not enough to make a difference.

If you set up a bot, however, and just let it shoot down the endlessly spawning enemies in the areas before the “boss” it will probably accumulate something like 1000 xp per hour.

Must be going for the “Legendary Defender of Kryta” title. :P

For those that don’t get it, Legendary Defender of Ascalon was a title that you would get in Guild Wars Prophecies by getting to max level without ever leaving Pre-Searing (or the “newbie” zone, generically speaking).

Jokes aside, that’s either a bot (highly likely) or a really bored player (less likely). I don’t really see the point at this time to get to 80 in the prologue event. That’s just really absurd.

About the only thing that makes sense to me is creating an alt to farm high level DEs and crafting mats, but he doesn’t want to take the time to do it himself and figured a bot in the beginning instance would be less visible since most people rush through to the end now that you can’t farm the mobs for loot bags.

I only noticed because he had a turret set up, and you don’t get that ability until level 5. If he’d stuck with basic attacks with the pistol engineers start the game with I probably never would have noticed his level.

Not all botters are smart…

There have been players in Rift who leveled alts all the way to max without ever leaving the starting instance. But you get more xp and loot from killing mobs than here, and you can queue for PvP at level 10 and dungeons at 15. Plus there are veterans perks like vials that boost xp and a portable bank/vendor/mailbox so you can mail things to your alt from another toon. Technically you will have to leave the instance to go into warfronts and dungeons, but you can reach level 50 (current max level until Storm Legion is released) before moving on to Silverwood or Freemarch.

Still not sure what the point is, but if it can be done, someone out there will do it, no matter how difficult it is.
