Level 80 Boost - Gem Store

Now that we know anet is capable of this, can we expect this or a similar item to become a gem store item in the future? Maybe just the instant boost to level 80 without the shared inventory slot and additional items you receive.

I would even be interested in a level 80 salvage tool. You buy a one time item for 800 gems and use it on a current level 80 to delete the character and give you a level 80 boost to use on another character. Maybe for 1000 gems they could include a better salvage tool that includes a feature to un-soul bound your equipment (weapons, armor, accessories) and transfer it to your new character or be able to sell or salvage. The equipment would be in the bag mailed to your account that also contains the level 80 boost.

My main reasoning for this would be those of us who regret the race we made and have no way of changing the race and probably will never be able to unless you started from scratch and leveled/used tomes. Feel free to leave any thoughts or comments.

They said no.

If you want the level 80 boost, buy HoT. If you already have HoT, use your level 80 character in PvP or WvW and do dailies to get tomes to level another character.

Just to confirm, they’ve stated that they have no plans to sell the level 80 boost. That could change in time, obviously, but there are no plans for it right now.

I think it’s unlikely they’ll change their mind on it. As I understand it the point of the level 80 boost was for people who bought GW2 after HoT came out so they could play with their friends in the new maps right away. The fact that everyone else got one was just a nice gesture from them (or more likely because they knew people would complain if they didn’t).

Using that logic there’s no need for a second instant level 80. You can level up another whilst using the one you’ve got if you need to go to a level 80 map.

And if levelling them normally seems too daunting you can use Tomes of Knowledge. Even if you didn’t get any XP from anywhere else and only got tomes from login rewards it’d only take 5 months to get to level 80. You can cut that down a lot by getting additional tomes (PvP is probably the easiest way for most people, which you can even do on your new character) and by playing them any time you’re doing content that’s within their level. (I’d also recommend doing at least the first 5 levels manually because they’re extremely quick, literally 2 or 3 hearts will do it.)
