Level-80 Boost & Shared Inventory Slot

So after a bit of a break from GW2 I came back in time for Living World Season 3 to find a Level-80 Boost in my new Shared Inventory Slot. Now, both of those are nice additions to the game, however I’ve run into a very annoying issue.

I’ve purchased the Bloodstone Fen Portal Scroll with the intention of allowing my alts to easily access the new map, and I assumed I could just swap out the Level-80 Boost and have the scroll in the Shared Inventory slot. Not so. When I tried to remove the Level-80 Boost, I got a message stating that it cannot be removed until it is consumed.

Here’s the problem. I don’t want to consume it. I have a level 80 of each profession, and no desire to have another, atm. For that matter, I don’t even have a free character slot even if I did want another 80. But the only way to free up that Shared slot for the Bloodstone Fen scroll is to consume the Level-80 Boost.

Why can’t we just move the Level-80 Boost to our bank if we have no plans to use it? As it stands I’ll need to buy a second Shared Inventory slot, or buy a new character slot to have a character to use the Boost on (or delete a character), neither of which I want – or should be forced – to do.

Yes, I know the story steps to get to Bloodstone Fen are quick and easy, but that’s beside the point. The point is, the Level-80 Boost is locked into the Shared Inventory slot until consumed, when we should just be able to move it elsewhere without issue.

You can use the boost on a level 80 character and get all the stuff it gives.

Indeed, if you use it on a lvl 80 character, you gain all the material benefits of the boost. Since you don’t have a character slot, maybe that is the way to go. Or you could buy either a character slot or a shared inventory slot. Unless you are maxed out, of course.

Until you use the Level 80 boost, the free shared inventory slot is “locked” out. That is so you can’t accidentally delete the boost.

Details on what the Level 80 boost does (it’s not just a level 80 scroll like the level 20 or 30 ones) is found in the wiki.

Sure, I get that I can just use it on an 80 to free up the shared inventory slot, but that strikes me as a bit of a waste. What if I want to save the Boost, say for the next expansion and Tengu (hey, I fella can dream).

My gripe remains: the only way to remove that Level-80 Boost from the Shared Inventory slot is to use it, when I can see no reason why I can’t simply put it in my bank until I actually do want to use it.

Just not the way they implemented it. No storing of the Boost, except in the Shared Inventory Slot. Mine still sits there. Can’t really gripe about something given free of charge.
