I was so excited when I hit level 80 but I honestly feel like there is nothing to do anymore. I can grind champions all day….how exciting I am really disappointed with this “end game” pvp is fun but. It can get old. I just want some new content. Like the story to be honest isn’t really my thing, it’s very fun and exciting but I honestly Would rather have a feel of progression. Like I am doing something that takes awhile to do like a raid with different difficulty options not killing the same champions over and over again and dungeons aren’t really rewarding so,
Any thoughts?

Ok. I’ve seen this kind of stories over and over again. What do you exactly expect from gw2 after you reach lvl 80 ? And if there is nothing to do tell me what would you do in other mmo’s when you hit max lvl that is more fun then that you have right now ?

yes well lvl 80…

wait for the LS to come back, even if it’s not your cup of tea, it will bring new shinies
do grind dungeons, for your legendary, ascended gear, trinkets whatever.
go and do some wvw, you will need a new set of gear
enjoy your world bosses, and run the train in cursed shore just because you can.

Or do just like me and get 15 lvl 80’s and gear them, and make them nice to look at.
use half in wvw and half in pve you can actually have fun redoing stories (even though Trahearne will get to be the greenest piece of snot of all NPC’s after a while.
(no offense intended except @ Trahearne)

Oh and do not forget to hope for some extra area’s, with the upcoming release…

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Go into the WvW borderlands and buy whole equipment with badges you get from playing WvW ( armor and weapon ). Second thing is you go to sPvP and complete full track that on the end has chest with full gear reward. on the way to the end of the track you will receive a lot of good stuff.

I’ve got 12 level 80s. They’ve been there and done that. The trait system redesign has killed alting for me. And on top of that, I sure am wishing we had something to look forward to besides the occasional drip, drip, drip of living story.

So you’ve reach level 80 on 1 character ? if so, well you’ve got 9 other classes to go, and 4 races to go.

Just in case the above is the case a tip from my personal experience with guild wars 1, I used to play only 1 class Elementalist, then when I puged in underworld, fissure of woe, etc. I used to get called out for all sorts of mistakes and error, some justified and some not justified, so I went off and built every single class in the game for a better understanding of it, even if I disliked playing that class because knowing at least the basics is always a good thing.

The result was? Elementalist became my 2nd main, and my 1st became monk, I ran with my warrior, farmed with my Assassin and Ritualist.

What will I do when in Guild Wars 2, I’ve kept the above mantra when (and quite soon) all I have all my classes to 80? well, then I’ve got to properly gear them all and that will take long time.

Enjoy… the game.

During development the game was advertised to not have either of these things. PvP is this way so that it isn’t about the gear like WoW and PvE isn’t supposed to be about having to constantly chasing that carrot just to play content. It sounds like you want GW2 to be something other than what it was designed to be.
Raids are actually coming but they aren’t going to have a gear progression. We definitely need new content but it sounds like you want something out of this game it is never going to have.

What’s really missing for me personally is an endgame character progression system that’s not gear based.

Your character only has 1 body and 1 head so once you got the look you wanted, that’s pretty much it for that character.

The fun factor never really carries MMOs that far because ultimately, a MMO has only so much content and thus inevitably, things will end up being repetitive eventually.

Major problem(or not) of Gw2:

  • Player is given a game full of attractions and stuff that makes you say that 24hour day is not enough for all of it. A game that doesn’t tell you what you have to do. A game where player decides what he wants to do, what he’ll do, and how he’ll do it. Player has acquired an ability to choose and decide what’s his next goal in game.

OP reminds me of those Korean MMO grinders, who cannot play games that do not enforce and show a goal that one does have to reach. Including frequent patches that right before he’ll reach a goal he’ll have a new one.

I call those games

Everyone(I mean every fanboy) will expect you to use the game to the “fullest”, which means doing dungeons, doing fractals, getting all races and all classes (so 40 characters to level up), complete the world map, make all legendaries, create ascended set for each of your characters…
It’s ridiculous.

The fact is, there is not much to do in the game for level 80s who don’t enjoy living story/grinding that much. I think that should be worked on.
New classes, new races, new weapons, new traits, new maps, new mini-dungeons. Those things would certainly help.

I miss Super Adventure Box. I have no idea why it’s disabled most of the time.

I don’t think repeatedly going though 80 levels of stuff you just went through, and then dump the new character to do it all over again is most people’s idea of ‘stuff to do’.

I was so excited when I hit level 80 but I honestly feel like there is nothing to do anymore.

So your goal was to get to level 80, and now you’re looking for a new goal? Luckily, there is a ton more to do in game than reach level 80.

How about going for a special title ? Been there, done that? Dungeon Master? Master Crafter? Champion Hunter? Fashion Collector? Respected Achiever? Acolyte of Dwayna? Honorary Skritt?

“Endgame” is what you make it. This game doesn’t dictate the kind of content that’s meaningful at endgame, it gives you a wide array of choices and leaves you to pick whatever you enjoy. As such, you’ll also find that if you strive to “compete” with others, you won’t be able to compete with just any player, since they may care for totally different parts of this game than you do.

Personally, I took the first few characters to 80 and world completion just to get to know the game. Now that I have a good grasp of this game’s basic and advanced subjects (including 11 characters to 80 and 5, almost 6 to world completion), I find myself more into what I would’ve considered endgame in other games, like mastering my (7) classes to the point of low-manning (and eventually soloing) dungeons, being able to take other players through the world (open world, dungeons, WvW) and explain the world (and game mechanics) to them, aquiring an in-depth knowledge of as many parts of the game as possible.

Go ahead and dive into the world of Tyria. Level 80 is only the beginning, and the end is nowhere near in sight .

this game is in a weird place between themepark and sandbox. For a themepark MMORPG, it lacks the “hamster wheel” of keeping people engaged with chasing after new gear/power. For a sandbox game, actions don´t really have any consequences. GW2 celebrates mediocrity on all levels and does not want to leave anyone behind. Which is a solid business model as mediocrity is the new religion of the west.

Actually the thing that is likable about this game is that there is so much you can pick and choose. It is not “Go out and kill five of these and come back”. You can WvW, EOTM, pick your zones, and even just stay in down leveled zones to turn 80. There is a lot to do at 80, but some would argue it isn’t as exciting as the leveling experience. It is, actually, just a whole different mentality. The appeal of this game, for me, was always that it is not “rigid”. Having played a lot of the rest, it is really set apart in that way.
