Level Up Animation
Really? Huh.
I mean, it’s nothing wild, but I always thought it was appropriately flashy without being over the top. I feel good when I see it, but I also see it pretty often, so it’s good that I don’t get tired of something longer or bigger.
I’ve always felt the level up effects were overly weak in GW2.
As OP mentioned, it doesn’t need to be like Wildstar, but it needs to be more obvious.
“Catchy and memorable” would still get old really quick when you have one or multiple stacks of Knowledge tomes. Because then you’d have people who’d just rather stand around and level watching the same animation 80 times over.
Maybe if they disabled or reverted to actually forcing people to level up without tomes or time gating it, then that might help. Otherwise I don’t see how it’d matter much.
Not a lot of people have tomes. I myself played since 1st year no tomes and still leveling two more alts. Plus there are so many new players to the game. Leveling up should be a great exciting thing marked by its notification in some sort of display beyond plain text you leveled up.
Honest question here -- we all get tomes just for logging in, let alone other potential sources. How do you have none in three years?
As for the topic: I agree that it’s pretty weak visually, but it does knock anything around you away. No other level up does that, as far as I am aware.
Leveling up now pops up all these new chests and shiny fun stuff in the bottom right corner that wobble around enticingly. I say that’s sufficiently catchy, especially since I have to click through 80 of them when I power level alts up. Doubly good because no one else gets distracted by your flashy leveling animations.
