In World of Warcraft you can decide to have a character’s level frozen (primarily done by twinks for PvP purposes) but since you get level 80 drops even in starter zones on a level 80 character it would be more meaningful to do so in this game for the consistent mid-level gear drops. I know it takes awhile to level purely off killing things but you’ll eventually level out of the cotton and linen tier gear drops.

Even at level 80, if you go to an appropriate levelled zone, said items will still have a chance to drop. Certain tiers of materials are a pain to collect and should have their drop rates and acquisition methods looked at, but there’s no need to add a level freezing mechanic – it’s just an unnecessary band aid fix to an easily solvable problem.

I understand you wish to farm for certain items instead of collecting the gold and buying it from the TP but it is indeed just a band aid fix as mentioned above and it would be nice if they would try to fix this issue, some people sure love to go through lower level zones for nostalgic purposes and farm some.

And dont forget their are also Mounts and Dueling in WoW that we need here!

And a real holy trinity also. gw2 have to be excactly the same mmo as others on the market pls.

Sorry but i find it such a great system (in comparison to other mmos) that you can go to the lower level zones and still get your lvl 80 drops

Keyword being chance. Mounts are a great concept but unfortunately wouldn’t work with how Guild Wars 2 is designed. I think dueling is a great idea for this game. Holy trinity would be bad because it would make full zerker groups not viable meaning dungeons would last longer.

If you want level 80 drops just go to level 80 zones. Silverwaste gives loads of level 80 drops, though beware since even basic salvage kits sometimes give gossamer too.

I’m saying keep the level scaling but adjust the drops and give players more options, either a level freeze or return to area appropriate drops, not level appropriate. World of Warcraft has its problems such as stat based dodging instead of active dodging and gear being a huge factor in structured PvP. People don’t go to mid range zones for level 80 mats, which let’s be honest is all blue, green, and yellow gear are good for.

Guys (reads Zaron), just because GW2 is not “That other game”, it doesn’t mean it cannot learn from “That other game”. I mean, I’m sure you’ve learned by now that GW2 is also adding raiding, which also happens to be in “That other game”, so let’s please not give the OP a hard time and pretend as if it’s somehow blasphemy for GW2 to be inspired by ideas used in other games. It seems rather childish to dismiss an idea, simply because of its source of inspiration.

I honestly don’t think level freezing is a bad idea personally. I don’t think it’s completely necessary either, of course, because it is faster to earn gold at level 80 and buy the mats than it is to farm the mats, even at the appropriate level, but even still, it’s not like it would hurt for those who want an alternative.

Like how leather is currently at vendoring prices? Then good, time could be spent doing stuff that’s actually enjoyable like jumping puzzles, killing things in dungeons (fractals aren’t fun), and WvW and with prices lower full ascended would be more affordable. Cotton, linen and such aren’t just used for ascended mats and insignias but also insignias to level crafting disciplines.

If you want to freeze a character’s level, leave them at a JP chest. I open champ bags with them for consistent, mid-level gear drops. Other than that, you can farm the TP for those drops.
