Leveling Guide Please :)
Thieves are -the- successful WvW class. They’re squishy in PvE (I speak as someone who mained a thief for a long time, and still does ICly).
As to leveling, this game is one you don’t want to rush that. Everything you do will level you, there is no leveling curve after level 10. Explore, find things, gather nodes, do events, rez people. By the time you’re 80 you will be quite glad of the exploration because you’ll want all the waypoints so as to get to stuff asap.
The only things higher levels get you are: more skill and trait options (most useful if you’ve played your class enough to know what is helpful, plus you’ll need them in WvW), dungeon access (and there’s time, the dungeons aren’t temporary), and the ability to see all the zones on the map (Orr will eat you alive if you’re not high enough). Cooler looking armor, too, except with transmutation you can put any look on you want, if you have the stones/crystals needed.
That’s all very nice, but there’s no need to have it -now-. You’ll miss a lot of the game.
There isn’t much in this game that doesn’t get you XP and in turn help you level. In fact it seems if you venture out of main cities and even sneeze you get XP, LoL. Explore, harvest every node you run across, do events you run across, do hearts, do dailys, do personal story and so forth. Really it is hard not to gain XP in this game. I tried it with my mule alt and still leveled. haha
My advice is do not rush to 80. There is no reason to and you will enjoy the adventure more if you don’t.
Almost everything gives you exp. I made it all the way to level 80 within 6 days and I wasn’t even powerleveling. You should really focus on the things you like to do and try to enjoy these days as much as possible. Thief is a rather hard class to master anyway so you can use all the learningtime you can get.
I leveled up by 100%’ing zones. I go in this order: Major Cities, then all the 1-15 maps, then the next level maps and so on. Chances are you will be 80 before you get to the level 80 zones.

The meta is changing at an alarming rate!
if you’re new player, please refrain from joining the Queensdale Champ Train,. It is the most toxic way of leveling up. skill-less, simply spam skill 1.
go open maps on all races, do events, and do personal story line. you’ll appreciate it when one day you decide to make a legendary weapon, or when you want to join guild mission.

My leveling guide (signature) is for mesmers, but it also explains general things like buff food and stacking of boosters. Might be of some use.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Don’t use crafting to level before 30, even if you somehow manage to afford it. The game is designed to unlock skills at intervals up to level 30 so you aren’t overwhelmed and actually learn how to play your class. Besides this, the starter zones are some of the best ones, and you get slightly less proportional experience for them at higher levels.
As others have said though, the game gives you experience for basically everything. So do what you enjoy
My suggestion on the theif class is use “sword pistol” for multiple enemy “dagger dagger” for single enemy or moving faster.
Try to get the signet which move faster as soon as possible it’ll save you some time.
if you have trouble killign enemy just switch to sword pistol and spam the blinding skill “I believe it is the 5 skill”.
Thanks everyone! great help!
Leveling guide? Patience. You’ll feel like leveling is a pointless and artificial limit by the time you hit 35 or so. It is, now you get to grind out 45 more levels. You can keep unlocking skills that you won’t use to try and alleviate some of the boredom, and some of the traits are nice, although you have to wait 20 levels between seeing new traits. Crafting is good for spamming through a few levels quickly. If I recall correctly, it’s about seven levels you gain leveling a crafting discipline up to 400. It will cost more gold than you are going to like to do so. I suppose, if you have a ridiculous amount of gold, spamming every crafting discipline to 400 would net you 56 levels or so in a very short amount of time. Unless you enjoy playing the trading post, or find and sell a precursor exotic item(used to craft a legendary) you will not have enough gold to do so.
In my experience, the fastest leveling that doesn’t cost you a bunch of gold is to do map completion. Just pick an area and start filling up hearts, completing skill challenges, uncovering points of interest and way points, and viewing vistas. Continue doing so until you finish every one in that area. Then move on to the next one, and then the next one, and then the next one, and then the next one, etc. I usually do them in order. I do all the races starter level 1-15 areas, then all the level 15-25 areas, and so on. I also do my personal story as I hit the level requirements. I have successfully leveled to 80 in three days grinding out areas like this, but that was playing almost non stop.
