I hit level 80 yesterday without trying.
I feel a little disappointed. It’s kinda like a spent a few days in kindergarten playing in the sandbox and drawing stick figures, and someone handed me my high school diploma.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had fun, and I know that leveling to 80 isn’t the point, but I just feel like … well, honestly, I feel like it should have been harder to hit level cap. I don’t want it to be this easy! I want to struggle. I want to feel like the reward is worth the effort.

If tomorrow they said, “Sorry, we’re changing our leveling system and you’re now level 40”, I wouldn’t be all that upset. I think I’ve done enough content to be about halfway to cap.

What do you guys think?

You leveled to 80 organically and naturally. Congratulations and welcome to not-grinding for levels. Of course, you’ll still need to grind for mats and other things unless you buy them off the trading post.

I dont feel leveling is easy so much as its inconsequential. Experience levels have been a content/grouping limiting feature for games that thankfully isnt present in GW2.

The fact you dont care if your 40 or 80 is a good thing.

The first 50 or so levels weren’t bad. But leveling from 70 to 80 was way too quick imo, seemed like each level was only 4 or 5 events and that’s it. I would have preferred a higher xp ramp than what they did, but it isn’t that big of a deal.

That’s the intention of this game – that you should be able to level up without taking a huge amount of time to do so. There’s no sub fee, so no reason for them to make it take months to get to max level.

That’s because you’re used to having to spend hours just trying to get even with other players on a base level and gear.

Guild Wars has never been about ‘who has logged in the most hours gets the best gear that stomps everyone else’. Everyone is put on equal grounds for fairness, the only thing you should be grinding for is awesome outfits. if you wish to grind at all, I personally don’t and I don’t have the time to bother with it.

Leveling shouldn’t be difficult in PvE. The difficult part should be figuring out how to get past challenges with the tools you have available. I think for PvE the game needs difficulty in the way of enemies having more pronounced strengths and weaknesses and the environments having more pronounced behavioural effects (like the ice in GW1, remember the ice?).

Ya but spending maybe 45 minutes to an hour max and getting from 75-80 in the first orr zone is too quick no matter the reason for it.

I am all for faster leveling than most mmos, most games like wow take way too long to level. In this game the first half of the levels were just right when it came to the time per level. But once the xp per level flattened out and the events started giving more and more xp per event, the leveling got too quick. At the very least it should have taken the exact same amount of time per level not get faster.
