Leveling with style
No. The character I started 2 days ago is already level 52. :-x just can’t justify wasting any resources on gear when they outgrow it so fast. I’ll buy him something pretty when he hits 80… or plunder it from an underused character now that ascended gear is transferable.
It’s too costly to change the looks of gear on characters under 79 now, since they level fast. Before, the 1-79 stones were obtained through zone completion, so it was nice and easy to keep a character looking nice through leveling.
Now my 80’s only get to use them.
Anyone else putting fancy skins on leveling gear?
Not me. I level my alts so fast it isn’t worth it to use charges to make them look decent. I can wait until they hit 80.
Well, I got like 30 free charges from PvP rank, so just decided to put them to use as I have nothing to transmute on my lvl 80 characters right now. Also I’m gonna get some charges on my way leveling anyway
Now with the wardrobe online, I can finally level up my characters without being shamed of their look \o/.

it’s been the other way around for me:
before, normal transmutation stones were useless and i had 100+ of them so i used them without hesitation while levelling.
now, i mainly use HoM-skins and the cheap skins from WvW.
Gunnar’s Hold
Between tossing my regular stones a long time ago and misunderstanding how the wardrobe worked, I only have enough charges to dress up my main.
Crafting is designed for gear accessibility, not profit.
I bought my lvl 80 Asura Ranger the Magitech skin and he looks badkitten in it With the tier 3 culture longbow skin. I also bought him the Dreadlocks hair style.
Yep…
I can’t level a character that looks awful.
It’s nice being able to save charges by just slapping a costume one them too. The Executioner outfit looks cool on my Charr alt im level’n, and Chef outfit is just epic on Sylvari.
Other than that I just use the free-use skins like HoM, or only transmute chest piece and sometimes pants to something special.
If I can ever decide on a character to make…I’ll likely go this route – although it was possible to level with style even before this happened (although not to the same extent). Personally, I may go with a swordhorn charr warrior or something. It’s not really set in stone though.
